Work Text:

I gaze into your pupils… It’s dark around us, and I really hope you find me at least a little bit attractive. You can’t look up at me, smiling, and I’m about to cry from how much I want to kiss you.

You don’t want to say goodbye, and I play with your hand for a long time, not wanting to let it go. Finally, you look up at me, freeze in place, staring at my face. I lean forward, spreading my arms wide in an embrace. Something like “Goodbye” escapes your lips. We have to meet again.

Next time, you swear to take me to the cemetery, and I agree without hesitation.

It’s quiet there, only the grass rustles under our feet. It’s so easy to talk to you so naturally. I wonder, if our bodies had been dried up by the years somewhere down there underground, would my soul still belong to you? You suddenly smile, as if you’ve read my thoughts. I feel awkward, and we’re silent for a while.

“Do you bring all the girls here?” I joke.

“You’re the only one who agreed.”

And then you look at me as if I really am the only girl in the world for you. My palms start to sweat, and I secretly pray that our first kiss won’t be in a cemetery.

You notice the wrinkles that have appeared on my forehead from the tension, wave your hand, and invite me to keep moving.

Beyond the cemetery, a view of a lake full of green water opens up. Your eyes, even greener than they are now, look at me.

I notice your pupils dilating. My lips part on their own, but before I can say anything, you lean forward and gently kiss me.

Frogs are croaking all around, but all I can hear right now is your warm breath against my lips and my own heartbeat.
