‎"No. You are not going to be out there spending any more of the energy you're supposed to be saving."

‎Zia scowled, and tried to shove past him again, but Carter held steady.
‎She growled.
‎"Carter, just because you're pharaoh doesn't mean you can boss me around like some sort of your personal slav-"

‎"I'm not bossing you like a slave," He frowned. Gods of Egypt, she's really stubborn.
‎Then his hands found their way to Zia's back and pushed her towards him until she bumped to his chest. Her amber eyes glowing with indignation and annoyance.
‎She gripped her staff tighter, and a small flame appeared at the top.
‎"I'm trying to keep the girl important to me safe." Carter finished.

‎Cheesy? Yes. Effective at making fire elementalist girlfriend stop and listen? Also yes.
‎Zia's mouth opened and closed like a fish, and her throat turned somewhat red.
‎After she got over that really unnecessary comment, she rolled her eyes and tried to get past Carter again.

‎"Listen, Kane, they need me outside and-"

‎"Sadie's outside." Like that was enough.
‎Then from outside came an explosion which caused the two to turn their heads to see a serpopard fly off the ground, followed by the unmistakable voice of none other than Sadie Kane shouting another spell (probably another Ha-di).

‎Carter turned to Zia again.
‎"I'm not saying you aren't helpful -- You are very, very much one of the most powerful magicians I know, All I mean to say is that you need to rest up. You collapsed earlier after using up your magic. Again."

‎"I've rest up now, surely you'd-"

‎"Zia," He's using that tone that he only uses on Sadie whenever she gets reckless (which is a lot of times, by the way).
‎"Please."

‎Another explosion blew up, then a few noises followed which Carter identified as penguins (Felix is at it again).
‎Then Walt's yelling from where he's probably throwing another amulet.
‎"Sadie!"
‎(It was either Walt or Anubis yelling. Probably both).

‎Finally, Zia sighed and relented.
‎She won't say it out loud, but one part of her was relieved. Carter is right though.
‎She still felt exhausted, and she still felt involuntary shivers running through her.
‎"Fine. As long as you come back. Preferably in one piece and still alive, Carter Kane."

‎He grinned and hugged her, and started to rush to assist at the fight.
‎But before he could go far, Zia called back.
‎"Carter!"
‎His head whipped to her, and she gestured for him to come over with her eyebrows scrunched together and her ‎amber eyes sparkling with irritation.
‎She jabbed her finger at Carter.
‎"I repeat: come back alive and whole. That goes to the others too, but you especially."

‎"And I promise to return as you request, and hopefully not too exhausted, and-"

‎She silenced him by tugging him by his shirt's collar and pressing her lips onto his.
‎Carter's eyes widened in surprise, but only stayed that way for a second before he kissed back.

‎Then Zia pulled away and raised her eyebrow at him.
‎"Are you going or not?"

‎It took Carter about three seconds (maybe longer) to come out of his daze, but he nodded and walked back to the door, only nearly tripping once.
