It was a beautiful day! The warm sun sucked down upon the Brave Olivine as it effortlessly glided through the open blue sky! Days like these were Liko's favorite! Everything was just so nice and warm and just sooo….relaxing. She had nothing to stress or worry about. On days like these she could just chill and have fun with her friends and Pokemon.
Currently, Liko was sitting on the stairs near the observation deck and the battlefield. She was writing in her digital diary. Liko started writing in it ever since she moved to Indigo Academy to basically record her experiences there. It was just a little habit that she gained. Though ever since she joined the Rising Volt Tacklers she now uses it to clear and organize her thoughts, more or less. She even doodles little pictures in the corner of her digital diary, they weren't as good as her Father's painting obviously, but they still had their charm and Liko was proud of them nonetheless. Usually, Liko likes to write her diary inside the comfort and solitude of her room, but again the weather was so nice outside that she just had to sit under the cool air and warm sun while writing. Also…she also wasn't alone.
Sitting beside her on the stairs was Roy! Again, Liko usually liked having privacy when writing in her digital diary, but she trusted Roy. She knew he wouldn't try to peek over and see what she was writing, he wasn't like that type of person. Roy respects her privacy so he wouldn't do that. So Liko wrote in her diary about her day so far. About how warm and nice everything felt, about how stress-less everything was, and happy to just have a day where she could just relax and hangout with her friends. Every once in a while she would lift her head up and gaze at what was happening in her surroundings. She saw Fuecoco and Sprigatito playing around with each other at the ship's battlefield. It was honestly just sooo cute seeing the fire croc and grass cat playing with each other like that! They had a pretty close friendship with one another, just like Liko and Roy do!! A part of her believes they only got so close because of her and Roy's friendship with each other, though that's just a superstition that Ann had told her about like once or twice, so perhaps maybe not. Anyways, seeing the two starter Pokemon play and chase was just such a cute sight that Liko decided to doodle them in the corner of her diary!
Liko turned her face to the right of her towards Roy. She was going to ask him about how his day was so far. He was honestly a bit quiet. Which was REALLY unlike Roy. Sure he did probably just wake up so perhaps that could be a reason as to why he was so quiet, but it's like. It's Roy. The boy who ALWAYS had something to say, and constantly talked about whatever was on his mind. So to have him be so quiet was…a little worrisome truth be told. Especially since Roy talked to Liko the most out of anyone on the ship. So that added more worry to the worry pile that Liko was already carrying. Although, she could just be over-analyzing and over-thinking everything like in usual Liko fashion. It was…a bad habit of hers. Roy could just be enjoying the moment like she was and perhaps that's why he didn't want to talk right now…still a little worry never hurt anyone.
So as she finally faced Roy she opened her mouth to ask a question…but stopped. Her teal blue eyes fixated on his face. He looked…bad. Not like in a 'wow he's ugly' type of way. Definitely not, Liko would NEVER think like that about any of her friends, especially not Roy. No. It was more so in a 'wow he looks rough' type of way. Like, Roy was leaning his chin on his right hand. He had what she assumed were bags under his eye. He also just looked extremely tired, both mentally and physically. Like he keeps trying to fight his eyes closing and just dozing off. What was he not getting enough sleep?? Did he have a bad nightmare or something?? Was he sick?? See! This is why she over-thinks and worries a lot!
"Roy?" Liko called out to her friend. "Are you okay?" She spoke with a slight tone of worry in her voice.
"Huh?" Roy perked up at Liko's question. "Oh uh yeah! I'm fine!"
Liko obviously didn't believe him. "Are you sure? You look kinda…rough." She gestured at, well, Roy's entire appearance.
"Uh…" Roy intelligently uttered. "Well…I didn't really get much sleep last night because of Feucoco and Wattrel fighting each other." He explained.
Ah. That makes sense. Both the fire croc and electric bird did have the habit of always fighting and bickering with one another, much to Roy's dismay. "I see…in that case maybe you should go back to sleep then? You already look pretty tired, and you're obviously trying to fight off dozing away." Liko suggested. The last thing she wanted was for Roy to just fall asleep here on the stairway, it would be uncomfortable and bad for him! Mollie said it was important for growing boys and girls to have a good posture while sleeping.
"Nah I'm fine, don't worry!" Roy brushed off Liko's suggestion. Liko always worried too much about him honestly. "Besides, how can I sleep when a beautiful day like this is here!" Roy exclaimed with joy. He flashed Liko with his iconic bright grin. Roy could light up even the darkest caves with that smile of his.
That's a good point. This day was just sooo amazing and breathtaking! Everyone should be out to enjoy it! Plus Roy has a way of just saying things in such an overtly optimistic and assuring way that you can't BUT help believe him. It was like this gift he had. "Well…ok!" Liko believed him…for now at least. She took one last glance at Fuecoco and Sprigatito playing before going back to write in her digital diary.
Liko spent the next half hour writing in her diary. Every once and a while she would look up and check in on Roy to make sure he wasn't asleep. He was…about the same. One time he yawned, and Liko told him that maybe he should just lay down inside the observation deck, but he insisted that he was fine and didn't want to miss out on this nice day. If Liko's bad habit was her overthinking then Roy's was always pushing himself when he didn't need to. But once again Liko begrudgingly left him be.
She began doodling in the corner of her diary. It would be a picture of Feucoco and Sprigatito playing with each other, that she had mentioned before. Though currently the two starter Pokemon were now sleeping side by side with each other. Again, just sooo cute!! Liko had to resist squealing like an Oinkolonge, that was how adorable it was!! Anyways, as Liko began drawing away she suddenly felt something slump against her shoulder. Turning towards the right she saw what was slumped against her.
It was him.
Roy.
He was snoring softly.
He was sleeping.
Right there on Liko's shoulder.
...Huh
"Uhm…" Liko lamely uttered. She was flabbergasted. Her face started to heat up and turn slightly pink. This was so…embarrassing! She hasn't had someone this close to her, let alone sleep on her shoulder! Liko wasn't like Dot where she hated physical contact. No. If anything she was more than fine with stuff like hugging or fist bumping. But this?! This was just too…intimate for her!! The fact that it was Roy who was leaning on her shoulder made it worse somehow. Her insides started to flutter around like Butterfree. She told him he should go back inside and rest but he didn't listen did he!!
'Ok ok! Just calm down and take a deep breath Liko…' She took a long deep breath. It helped calm her nerves whenever she started to panic and stress over something. She turned to face the now sleeping Roy on her right shoulder. What should she do? The obvious answer would just be to nudge him awake but…that would just cause more embarrassment towards her. How would she even explain that? 'Oh hey Roy you accidentally slept on me and I got really embarrassed by it. Oh and also please ignore me blushing like an idiot ok thanks.' Yeah not happening.
Well that just leaves the other option which is just...leaving him there. It's not that bad of an idea. She's just letting her friend sleep and relax, and honestly she can't blame him. The warmness of the sun and the coolness of the air really does give everything a comfy and chill vibe. If she had to sleep somewhere it would also be here, and besides Roy does look like he needs the nap so if she had two she is more than willingly to be his pillow. Sure there was the whole thing about Roy waking up and seeing that he leaned on her but…they'll cross that line when they get there. Now that she thought about it wasn't really that embarrassing. It's just helping a friend was all that it was…still she can't help but feel a little fluttery at the situation. Well at least no one else was here to see this.
"Yo."
Nevermind.
Liko turned her head over her left shoulder, towards the voice behind her. It was Dot and Quaxly! They had just come out of the observation deck.
"D-dot?? What are you doing here??" Liko asked her. She whispered as she really didn't want to wake Roy up right now.
"Eh. I was just editing down in my room, so I decided to take a break and come out for some fresh air. It's a nice day after all." Dot said as she leaned over the railing near the stairway. Quaxly went to go talk with Fuecoco and Sprigatito. "It was your advice after all." Dot then added as she stared at the Pokemon chatting.
"O-oh right of course…" Liko did tell Dot to go outside more, and she's glad that the shut-in actually took her advice instead of brushing it off…but did she have to come at a time like this!? REALLY?!? Is the universe against Liko or something??
"So uhh…" Dot trailed off. She took her gaze off from the Pokemon and towards Liko and Roy. The position of the two were in, finally clicked inside her brain. "What's going on…here?" She finally said as she gestured to…whatever was going on in front of her.
Liko's face began to heat up again. "Uhm…well you see Roy was tired and he uh…d-decided to just…do that.". She stammered out. It was a bad explanation of the situation but Liko was just too embarrassed to fully articulate the whole situation.
"Did he now…" Liko couldn't see it but a small almost sinister smile began forming on Dot's face. Many did not know this side of the shut-in did but she did have a very small, but sinister side to her. A side that liked to torment others for the sake of her amusement, and it was coming out in full now. Which didn't bode well for Liko. Dot took out her Rotom Phone and began tapping on the screen of it.
"Uh…Dot? What are you doing?" Liko cautiously asked. She didn't like the look on Dot's face. Not one bit.
"Ahh nothing. Nothing at all. Just sit still for a second…" Dot continued to tap on the screen of her Rotom Phone for another couple of seconds before suddenly putting it away. "Alright, I did what I needed to do. Let's go Quaxly. Enjoy being Roy's pillow." Dot and the water duck then walked away inside of the airship. Liko wasn't sure but she swore she heard a slight chuckle from Dot after she said her last comment.
Liko didn't know what exactly the shut-in did but she had an extremely bad feeling about it. She went back to drawing in her digital diary hoping to at least take her mind off the whole thing. 'Maybe it's not as bad as I think.' Liko thought to herself. 'Dot's not evil, she wouldn't do anything to torment me. I'm probably just overthinking it like always. It's nothing bad-'
DING
Her Rotom Phone went off. It was a notification from the Rising Volt Tacklers group chat. She clicked on the notification, thinking it must be an important announcement or something similar. However…as the group chat finished loading she realized it was anything but.
Oh.
Oh no.
There it was.
A photo of Roy sleeping on Liko's shoulder.
Liko's face went full blown red. She wanted SCREAM but she didn't as she definitely did not want to wake up the still sleeping Roy. So she just did it internally instead. 'KYAAAAAHHHHH!!!' Unfortunately that wasn't the worst of it.

Murdock: That's so cute!!!
Mollie: Adorable.
Friede: Well isn't that nice.
If it was possible, Liko's face became even more red. The tips of her ears burned at all the comments from the crew. She was SO going to kill Dot for this later. Liko buried her red stricken face into her hands. It was a good thing Hatenna was in its pokeball or else the poor thing would have been running around panicking all over the place. Liko quickly closed the group chat, each new message dinged but she just decided to ignore that for now. She reopened her digital diary and tried, hint word tried, to go back to doodling in the corner. But she was still too flustered to pick up her pen. That was the most embarrassing and humiliating thing that EVER happened to her in her life.
Liko sighed as her blush started to slowly die down. She turned her head towards Roy, who was still slumped over her shoulder. He looked like he was in complete peace. Y'know seeing him at peace and softly snoring like this made him look pretty…cute. Liko softly smiled at the sight of her sleeping friend beside her. She was definitely going to get teased relentlessly after, but all things considered sitting under the gaze of the warm yellow sun, the gentle breeze of the cool air, and having a cute boy sleeping on your shoulder while you're drawing is a very nice feeling. Honestly, things could be a lot worse for Liko.
She was still going to kill Dot later on though.
