Work Text:

“do you want to sleep with me, souta?” kousuke asked absentmindedly as he ran his fingers through his boyfriend’s soft, honey-colored hair. his boyfriend startled and looked up at him with wide eyes. his face flushed a pretty pink color, a color kousuke could never tire of seeing for as long as he lived.

“what are you talking about?!” souta yelped, detaching himself from his boyfriend’s grasp. “i… i have to go home.” he fiddled with a button from shirt, fingers trembling as he tried to calm himself down. “i just wanted to ask if you want to sleep at my house tonight. it’s pretty late.” kousuke asked again, his lips threatening to curl into an amused smile. he tried his best to keep the humor from showing on his face, but the poorly contained mirth swimming in his eyes did not go unnoticed by souta.

“what’s so funny? i told you i need to prepare my heart before you say things like that! besides…” his boyfriend pouted, his voice trembling as his eyes briefly teared up. “i don’t think i’m ready to do that just yet..” as his voice trailed off, his cheeks flushed again, this time a dark red. kousuke watched his boyfriend in confusion, until a lightbulb went off in his head.

“souta…” kousuke breathed out, taking his boyfriend’s hand into his own. his beloved’s hand was soft and a bit cold, but still heated enough to fill his whole body with warmth. “i just meant to sleep. if you don’t want to, i respect that. but i truly meant just to sleep in my bed together.”

souta's eyes widened larger, if that was even possible, and let out a shriek of embarrassment. his face alternated between a pretty pink color and a dark, maroon color. a tear fell down his cheek as he hiccuped out, “oh my god, i’m so embarrassed! why didn’t you just say that more clearly!”

god he loved him so much. he looked so effortlessly beautiful right now. flushed, wet, breathless, and shaky. his pupils dilated, fully blown out as his eyes trailed from souta's cherry red lips to his teary, glossy, caramel-colored eyes. kousuke let out a winded breath as he tried to calm himself down. as much as he enjoyed seeing his boyfriend’s over-the-top reactions, he couldn’t bear to see souta hurt anymore.

“hey, it’s okay don’t be embarrassed. i’m sorry, next time i’ll be more clear.” kousuke brought his boyfriend into a hug, wrapping his arms tightly around the shaking boy. “and speaking of doing other things, i’ll never force you to do something you don’t want to do. let’s just go slow together, okay?” he felt souta nod his head as he nuzzled his face deeper into his strong chest.

"in that case... i would love to sleep over, kousuke." souta mumbled, keeping his face flush against the expansion of skin before him. kousuke was immediately endeared. god, he was so adorable. he was so in love. he was glad his boyfriend hadn't looked up at him yet because he was certain the mushy emotions he felt at the moment were glowing on his face.

"let me get you a blanket. you can wash up while i prepare it." he whispered, leaving a chaste kiss on his boyfriend's head. he caught a whiff of his shampoo, noting the smell of lavender. kousuke very much loved that scent now, committing it to memory. souta mumbled in agreement, still looking down bashfully as he made his way to his boyfriend's bathroom. in the process, he almost fell flat on his face.

kousuke snickered quietly at the sight, trying his best to keep quiet to not further embarrass souta. laying down the blankets on the comforter, a surge of anticipation ran through his bones. they had held hands, hugged, hell, they have even kissed. but this was the first time souta had slept over. he couldn't help but feel so excited at the thought of cuddling up with his lover, surrounded by the warmth of their arms and blankets.

not long after, souta entered his boyfriend's bedroom, a look of heightened nervousness etched onto his features. he tentatively laid beside kousuke, sneaking bashful glances at his boyfriend. he flipped over to view his adorably nervous boyfriend, a soft smile curling onto his lips. "i'm so happy you're laying down next to me." he blurted out, apparently swept away by the tender feeling in the air.

souta startled at his boyfriend's sudden honesty. soon his initial shock melted into a fond look in his eyes. his lips quipped into a little smile as he whispered, "you're acting like such a sap right now." he giggled a bit and kousuke vowed he would store it away in his heart for the rest of his life. souta fully turned his body to face his boyfriend and asked teasingly, "just how happy are you that i'm here right next to you?"

"i'm so happy that the world could end right now and even that wouldn't take away my happiness." he knew his line was incredibly cheesy but the way it put that familiar pretty pink color on his boyfriend's cheeks made it all worth it. "that was so cheesy!" he laughed softly, scooting closer to his lover. "just so you know... i'm happy too." kousuke moved in a bit closer too, so close that he could see the freckles on his boyfriend's cheeks. they looked like bright stars in the dark lighting of his room.

he could see bright eyes look into his, every golden spec in them gleaming brightly. he could see the bright red of souta's lips. lips that always looked so inviting, warm, soft, and familiar. he faintly smelled that lavender shampoo again, the mere smell of his beloved making him a bit lightheaded. he was completely and utterly smitten by the boy right in front of him. he truly did not know how crazy he made him feel.

"can i hug you?" kousuke breathed out, his eyes intently focused on his boyfriend's face. the blush dusted on souta’s cheeks deepened, however, he nodded slightly. kousuke did not have to be told twice. he closed the distance between them, encasing his boyfriend within the warmth of his strong arms. he inhaled the lavender scent once again, softly groaning as he did so. god, he smelled so addictive. this was home. nowhere else would do if souta wasn't there.

"you smell nice," souta whispered, nuzzling his face into his boyfriend's defined chest. "you smell like cinnamon." kousuke's heart stirred at those words. he was hopeless in his boyfriend's arms. he felt like putty. "you smell nice too. you smell like lavender." he complimented back, pressing a lingering kiss onto his boyfriend's golden hair.

souta hummed in response, clearly drifting into slumber. the room became silent and the only sounds heard were the soft rise and fall of their chests. kousuke began to feel as if he were floating. in his sleep, souta snuggled closer against his boyfriend, throwing a leg over. they were completely connected at that point, as if they were one being. kousuke really liked that idea - becoming one with his beloved.

"goodnight, sweetheart." he mumbled drowsily, drawing circles onto his boyfriend's arm. "i love you." and with that, he was welcomed with the sweet warmth of sleep. with his lover flush against him, the sounds of their relaxed breathing, and the warmth radiating between them, there was nothing more kousuke wanted.
