Chapter 1: The Meeting

Chapter Text

In an unsuspecting castle, still in use, a historic castle to the general public. However, within the outskirts of a small town lay a hideout
for the most dastardly organised crime syndicate.

A Syndicate that was so organised that they were dysfunctional when all in a room at once, that's the amount of organisation they have.
"Meeting!" The voice of a particular well-spoken, yet theatrical, secretary, though it seemed all roles did not matter in any case or scenario.
"Yes, I am very WELL aware the gathering was today. I am here, you absolute baboon." Hissed the member behind the conveniently large steel door to a Luxurious and royal-like decorated basement, with jewels, nice quality of life objects, a lot of expensive and ornate furniture, and most importantly, art, busts, and armour stands!
"Now now Ing, what have we said! Do calm down, I don't bite~" the voice of Halvor jousted playfully through the door. Seems Halvor has no concerns or worries about the hatchet Ingrid has at home.

"You are perhaps the most ludicrous bastard I've ever met. Allow me entry!" She ordered. Of course, a dysfunctional syndicate full of...
*"friends?"* or foes.
"Hal, please for the sake of me seeing tomorrow and you not losing any limbs, please let her in." Pleaded the voice of Cynthia, Cynthia was quite logical in her own way, more logical than the others put together of course! It's a miracle how the squad has not decided to kill each other yet, and she wishes to keep up the... diplomacy that is the harmonious feelings the group had.
"Oh, why should I care? It's funny! Look at her!
Getting riled up over no entry, sad I dare say." Halvor huffed and allowed Ingrid her entry that she needed.
"Took you long enough." Her long dress followed behind her as she went and took her seat around the table of 7.

All chaos and bickering soon finally died down as Fredric stepped to the head of the table; the six had their attention on Fredric, aside from Hal, who was more focused on his nails rather than Fredric. All peace had temporarily returned for Frederic to continue his speech, which he wanted to present.

"I do appreciate that everyone could attend, despite the major inconveniences with how and where it's scheduled. I do apologise for disrupting your schedules. However, you must trust me on this." Fredric began walking back and forth at the head of the table, almost addressing a crowd like a nobleman conducting a grand speech, which, in most eyes, is rather true. Fredric did have a noble background. and a seemingly large fortune!

"Oh, your majesty, I sure hope it was worth it." Halvor sneered, sitting sideways and resting their legs over the chair's legs, sassily. They flicked their nails. "Don't you just love causing pandemonium in everyone's plans for a day, you villainous scoundrel?" they accused. "Oh, believe me, i have way better things to be doing than be gathered here with you lot. ouhh, waste of my amazing free time."

"Hear hear!" Hynter called out, agreeing with Halvor, Hyn was more of a quiet yet deadly foe, easily manipulating others, almost a shadow walker, snake-like, venomous yet poisonous. They stamped their unneeded walking cane, used for fashion rather than mobility reasons, always there to remind people that they are rich, and important. Hynter always had a smirk on their face, even in the most sorrowful times. Yes, unfortunately for them it does get them rather rude remarks since they think they're incapable of any sympathy whatsoever. For those people, they are slightly right.

"OH FINALLY!" Exaggeratedly, Hal sighed, almost like Hunter provided him with all the necessary tools to keep him alive and thriving. "At least one has common sense!~" he smiled evilly. Fist bumping the gloved hand of Hynter, and for Hynter, he let off a proud "hmmph" at Halvor.

Cynthia rolled her eyes and adjusted her outfit, a black suit followed by a corset and cloak. "As if you two fuckwits are worse than each other."

"Us??" Hal and Hyn exclaimed almost in perfect synchronisation, but a scoff of complaint from Hyn disrupted the synchronisation.
"As if I am worse than that thing", they pointed at Halvor. almost shifting all of the accusations to Havor.
"Hey now, buddy. Watch your finger." Halvor almost seemed offended by his greatest buddy deciding to betray him. His trust in them would never be the same  in Halvor's perspective. "you dare say I'M worse?" almost shocked at Hynter.

"You are all a bunch of morons!" Cried a desperate Jakobsen, a man of great expression. From pure calm, to a sea of panic and fear, to extreme sadness, to complete apathy, to raging anger. Almost demonstrating the vast array of emotions on the spectrum of feelings. "You two! This is why we are NOT getting anywhere." They had accused, out of breath from their quickened breathing for no apparent reason.

"Oh, why please, can everyone just relax?" Fredric calmly just asked,  of course, this was at least a very occasional situation that comes up in one form or another.

Soon enough, the table of dysfunctional friends did go back to the sea of calm, apart from the panicked Jakob, who was rocking back and forth in their chair.

"As I stated, the situation we face is fine. We have not one thing to worry about. Regarding our scheme, it is all together." Fredric optimistically pointed out, full of hope and something related to happiness.

"Way to go on making us sound like petty people doing useless stuff," Ingrid commented. Not exactly moved or convinced by Fredric's rather optimal speech on the group's scenario. "How can we separate fact from fiction?" She calmly queried, making sure people were listening.

"Bullshit! No difference!" Flynn announced that they were focused on zoning out, thinking about what to do later. They have no fear whatsoever with their grand announcement that kicked off the others.
"Fact and fiction can easily be manipulated." Hynter, with a slight twinge of malice, implied, adjusting their gloves, almost seems that they're targeting Halvor with the same glare they always seem to stare at Hal with.
"That fact is more important and appreciated by worthless fiction." Cynthia regarded, logically putting her point out there.
"That neither of the two matters?? Thought that was obvious, but look where we are!" Hal sighed as they moved to sit properly in his chair, his feet now in front of his chair
"That both are useful in their own ways? Fiction can be stated to mislead, and facts can also be used to reinforce a statement. Blatantly obvious, isn't it?

It seems the entire table seemed to be at a standpoint of different views, a major factor that contributes to their atmosphere of nonsense and Dysfunction.

"You're all pissing me off." Jakobsen grumbled, sighing into his hands. "We've moved so far from the meeting. This is... just WORTHLESS." He pointed at Halvor. "You're a moron," then pointed at Cynthia. "You think you're above all of us combined." Then, pointed at Hynter. "You, you are MERELY just a shadow of Hal, you're just as bad, if not worse." Jakobsen must admit, he has nothing he can say to Ingrid, Fredric, or Flynn. The others seemed to have paused, each member seemingly shocked at where this came from.

"Excuse you?" Hal seemed to gasp in betrayal. "I have been nothing BUT an angel so far! Your accusations do hurt me, betrayal I say..." They flopped back into their seat, sighing as if they had been on a massive tangent, which they had not.

"Hey?? i am my own self, thank you. Just because I act similarly to Halvor does NOT mean I'm just a... 'SHADOW' of them?"  Hynter seemed to take that statement with more than a pinch of salt; they took it with the entire red sea's salt content.

"You're blaming the only logical person in a room full of people as 'Above us.'  Yes, ok fair! But you do realise I'm probably the only one here who hasn't sank this syndicate from my logic?" Cynthia argued that, unlike the other two, she did not get petty and defensive, only justifying her actions. displaying her sense of reasoning, rather than pure bargaining. \

"oh? Why, please do continue, it is getting interesting. ..." Flynn amusedly commented, snacking on some sweets they had brought with them. This, however, gained a glare from Ingrid as if she was trying to silently ask "why are you so amused??" though Flynn was not bothered whatsoever. "ooo!!" Flynn had always been extremely easy to amuse and entertain.

"as if that is not, simple-minded, entertained by pure chaos. I do question what occurs within your head, Flynn." Ingrid, with a hint of concern, asked Flynn, and to her question, Flynn did not hear it.

Fredric? Yeah, he just sat back in his seat, grabbing his glass of wine and taking a rather large swig to drown out his sorrows in spending his precious and lovely free time with all of these fools. "Are you done?" he asked, the bickering between Jakobsen, Halvor and Hynter seemed more interesting than whatever Fredric had to offer. Ingrid just watched with her arms crossed; she didn't know what to even think at this rate. It's always been chaotic, sure.

"I feel... we need a break? meeting adjourned for a bit?" Cynthia requested that her request, directed at everyone, be unanimously agreed upon. She would love a walk outside and be away from these people for at least ten to fifteen minutes.

"For once, I agree with you, Cynthia. I know we may not see eye to eye in many circumstances, but we finally agree on this." Ingrid sighed, the snide remark of "eye to eye" was true, Cynthia was shorter than Ingrid. that did gain a scoff out of Cynthia.

"Yes... Perhaps a break would be best for everyone's greater good." Fredric announced, reflecting on everything. "Take thirty, be back in 30-35," he called. That gained a cheer from Halvor, who elegantly left the room with Hynter, off to either cause pandemonium or chat shit about people elsewhere.  Yet, their actions always remained a mystery to everyone. Jakobsen seemed to hurry out of the room, paranoid that he'd be followed by something or someone, either that or to get coffee.  Cynthia and Ingrid then left the room together after Jakobsen's Olympic sprint out. They walked slowly out, in comparison to Jakob. Therefore, leaving Flynn, who was zoned out eating sweets, and Fredric. who sipped his wine. after a long sip, he then sighed.

"Meeting temporarily adjourned," Fredric called out to no one in particular, before staying within the room itself. He did love his group of friends, though his sanity may not be able to cope if absolute chaos and anarchy are prolonged for more than 4 hours.
