Rodger was always quite fond of investigating, and today he decided he would do a little research on the toons of gardenview. He already tried to get information on the mains, but it didn't work very well, so why not try the commons just like him? Rodger was studying in alphabetical order, with most of the first toons being quite boring, he quickly got to Connie. Now, Rodger was always very interested in the ghost’s mysteries, so he was very excited to start her research. The magnifying glass ‘borrowed’ the toon's creation and additional information files from Dandy's room; he would return them after he finishes his work; Anyways, looking through Connie’s folder, he quickly wrote down the most important parts, until he found a rather interesting report:
“Boolinsky Connie
Character files:
Personality- A charismatic, mischievous prankster, has a ‘cool girl’ attitude, sarcastic at times, enjoys teasing others
( Things I will not bother to put, because I'm too lazy)
Additional character information: Is phonophobic (specifically gun sounds) Because ############################”
“Interesting….. the cause is blurred out with ichor. But I did not know that Ms. Boolinsky was phonophobic. I need to organize this better”
And with that Rodger ran out of his room leaving the door open to get better supplies.
Vee was walking down the hallway, heading to Rodgers room, she needed his help to find out who was leaving so many paper scraps in the game show stage. As she got there, Vee did not find the detective, but actually found notes about various toons, she did not pay that much attention to what was in front of her, so she went back to her initial goal, find Rodger.
“BOO!!”
Shouted Connie, as she jumped from behind a wall
“AHH!, Urg, CONNIE, STOP SCARING ME LIKE THAT”
Angrily responded Vee, that almost fell on the ground from the scare
“HAHA, you should have seen your face! HAHAHA”
“ Oh, one day I'll get you back, you little stupid-”
“ And how do you plan on doing that? I'm scared of nothing! No way you are gonna get this old ghost!”
“just you wait….”
Mumbled Vee, walking away from Connie.
“Hey girl! You really caught that TV head in the spot! It was so funny, hehehehe”
Gigi said as she approached Connie with Flutter by her side. They were doing a prank speedrun, they wanted to prank as many toons as they could in one day, and it was going good; maybe they would prank Vee again, who knew she had such a great reaction!; Now, who would they scare next?
“ Heya Connie, what about we do a prank on Brightney? Her reaction is gonna be priceless!”
“Brightney?..... I don't think it would be a good idea.”
“ Why not? Oh yeah, ya won't do it because you like heeeeeeeeeer”
“N-no I don't! Shut up, imma show you what I can do!”
As Brightney was walking down the hallway, she struggled with a couple books from the library. It was a big pile she was going to give the members of the book club to choose what to read. Connie was preparing to scare from behind a corner, but was starting to regret this decision she took in the heat of the moment.
“She isn't gonna do it, will she?”
Whispered Gigi to Flutter, hiding her mouth with her sleeve
“...!”
Responded Flutter, agreeing with Gigi
As Brightney passed from where Connie was, the ghost gave up on the prank she was going to pull
“ Hi Connie”
“H-hi-Hello Br-Brightney, hehe…”
“HAYYYYYYYYY Brightney, how ya doing girl?”
Shouted Gigi, since Connie had given up on scaring the lamp, she would do it herself. But because of that, all the books that Brightney was carrying fell on the ground with a loud
BANG!!!!!!!
“ AAAAAAAAHHHHHH”
Shouted the ghost as she sprinted directly through the ceiling
“What was that?”
Asked the lamp confused, she never saw Connie act like that, didn't she say she was scared of nothing? Well, that never could be true anyways.
“Dang it. I need to get going now, uhhhh, bye Brights”
Said Gigi, grabbing Flutter by the wing, and running away.
Vee analysed the scene carefully “ to someone that said they were ‘unscarable’, this is very surprising” thought the TV as she walked away.
“Interesting… I didn't think Connie of all toons would have that much of a reaction. I might want to check up on her” Mumbled the lamp. The situation got her quite intrigued.
“This can wait, I need to find Connie” said Brightney, as she left the books on top of a box for now.
With a bit of searching, she finally found Connie. She was doing nothing, just floating around , leaned into a wall.
“Hey Connie!”
“Wha…? Oh! H-hi Brightney. What are you doing here?”
“Well, I just wanted to see if you were all right, since you got quite scare-”
“SCARED? I wasn't scared, I just, i- I just forgot something on the top floor, that's all!”
“ Ok…. If you say so. Oh! And Connie, could you help me carry some books? I need to get them to my room before the book club starts”
“ Oh Yeah, yeah I can help, don't worry”
Responded the ghost, with a shine in her eyes.
Connie and Brightney spent a good time together, they talked a lot, and both had quite fun, even hanging out a little bit after they got all the books in Brightney’s room!
“ Would you look at the time! It is almost time for my book club, I need to go. And if you want, you are welcome to join us!”
“R-really? I need to think about it, I gotta head out now. Byeeeee”
Said the ghost, rather nervous from the sudden invitation, she wanted to accept it, she would, but later, it was too much information for one day.
And so, the two headed to their rooms to do whatever they needed for the rest of the day.
“ I'm telling you! I asked her about what books she likes the most, and she said horror and romance, isn't it super cool?! Her taste in literature is awesome”
Gigi, Flutter and Connie were in the ghost’s room, they were talking about what happened yesterday.
“We get it already! You looooooooove Brightney and everything, tell us something new!”
“!!!!!! ♥ !!!!”
“ No, is not that! Is just, she's so cool!”
“ Face it, girl, you've got feelings for her!”
“I- . Maybe just a little
*Knock knock knock *
Someone is at the door
“Come in!!”
Said Connie, curious to who was on the other side
“Hi Connie, good afternoon!”
“ Hiiiiiiii, B-Brightney, what do you neeeeed”
Connie started freaking out Internally, Brightney appeared right when she was talking about her, and talking about having FEELINGS about her, really hope she didn't listen!
“ I came here to ask you to help me with something, I see you are with your friends right now, so you don't need to come if you don't want to”
“ It's okay Brights! Connie can go with you, we don't mind”
Said Gigi, with the biggest grin on her face looking at Connie.
“!!!!!”
Said Flutter, saying basically the same as Gigi
“ Well, if you guys say so. Connie, do you want to come?”
“ Oh! Yeah, totally”
The pair headed out of the room. Brightney needed to fix some circuits on Vee, she could do it alone, but having Connie by her side made her feel a little different, something she couldn't quite describe, but she knew she was happy to have her company.
The two got to the backstage of Vee’s floor. Vee was sitting on top of a table waiting for Brightney.
“ Hello Brightney, it was about time you arrived.
And why is Connie here, exactly?”
“ She's just here to help, don't worry”
“ Hi to you too, Vee…”
“ Well, let's get to work, shall we?”
With everyone in their places, Brightney started to work. She opened Vee's Back; Where the wires should be; and took a good look at it.
“ Connie, I need to get some new batteries in the storage, and I want you to place the wires correctly in Vee's system"
“A-Ok, what do I need to do?”
“ You just need to connect the red wire in the left entry, and the blue where the black one is. After that, put the yellow one in the last spot and the green where the yellow one was originally. Got it?”
Connie didn't understand a thing, but she couldn't look like an idiot in front of Brightney! It looked like a simple thing to do, Connie just was too dumb to catch it
“ Yup, I understood everything. Go get the batteries you need, I can handle it here”
Lied the ghost, a little bit nervous
“ I will be right back, bye”
“ Ok, bye. Well, Vee, are you ready?”
“ Yes, I am, but if you mess up, I'm killing you”
“ Great, cuz I'm already dead”
Said Connie, as she got to work.
“ What did Brightney say again? Red in the left, blue were the yellow is-”
“BTZZZ. CONNIE, WATCH OUT”
“ Ops, sorry Vee”
Fixing Vee was a pain. Connie kept making little mistakes in the process, and it didn't help that Vee was always complaining!
“ Where did I need to put this again? The green in the last entry…?”
As Connie connected the wire, that simple, but drastic, mistake caused the wrong amount of electricity to force itself into Vee, and cause a shutdown on her, but not without a painful shock
“BZZZZT KZZZZTZ, VEE VERSIon one shutting down “
“OH MY GOD, WHAT DID I DO?!?!?”
“Connie are you okay I heard all that screaming and i- WHAT HAPPENED”
Brightney dashed through the room, quickly running to Vee and fixing her as fast as she could. Thankfully, Vee woke up fine, but enraged at Connie
“ Vee, thank God, are you-”
“ THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, YOU DID IT ON PURPOSE DIDN'T YOU?!?!”
The tv shouted, pointing directly at the ghost
“ WHAT? NO I DIDN'T, WHY WOULD I DO THAT?”
“I DON'T KNOW, BUT I KNOW YOU DID IT BECAUSE YOU WANTED IT”
“Guys, guys, let's not fight, I'm sure we can find a solution”
Connie was angry with that accusation, she didn't want to hurt Vee, but the tv had every right to be feeling like this, and Connie did not want to fight right now, so she just decided to get out
“ You know what? I won't argue with you, Vee, you won't change your opinion anyways, I'm out!”
“Connie, wait!”
Said Brightney following the ghost, passing through the door
As soon as Brightney closed the door behind her, Vee was thinking about all the ways she could get back at Connie for messing up her system.
“ I'm gonna show her. I need to get her back, but how?”
She thinked, and thinked, until she finally connected the dots.
“ Wait…. Yesterday she got scared because of the books that fell down, and it was a big scare. I think I can learn more about this with Rodger, last time I saw him, he was doing a report on all the toons of gardenview, wasn't he?”
As soon as Vee got this brilliant idea, she sprinted to Rodgers room, she didn't have any time to waste. As soon as she got there, she knocked on the door. Rodger opened
“ Oh! Hello Ms. Vee, what are you here for?”
“ Hey Rodger, I heard you have a personal report of the other toons, yes?”
“ Oh, yes, I do have them”
“ Do you have one of Connie?”
“Yes, but may I ask why you are asking me this?”
“ I need it for my new game show trivia”
“ Understandable. Let me get it for you”
Rodger found the said files, and handed them to Vee, who was fast to thank him and walk away.
“Oh! And Ms. Vee, after this, could you answer some of my questions-”
“No”
And Vee walked away.
As soon as she got in her room, she eagerly opened the folder, reading every detail carefully.
“AHA, just what I need…”
Who would have thought?! CONNIE, the ‘unscarable’, being scared of a little sound. Her reaction would be incredible, Vee was gonna show her who she was messing with.
The plan was simple: Find Connie, blast a super loud audio of a shooting, and laugh at her face. Vee was totally prepared, she turned the sound up to maximum, and chose an audio clip of a shooting. The only thing she needed to do is find Connie.
Brightney and Connie were sitting in the tv area in the toon rooms, talking about what happened to Vee earlier today, and certain someones just happened to be watching them from afar.
“ I'm sorry, Brightney, I messed up really badly that time with Vee… I- i really didn't want to hurt her, I swear!”
“ Don't worry Connie! I know you didn't mean it, accidents happen. Thinking about it now, it was my fault, I shouldn't have put you to do such a complicated task. But now is all in the past and we can move on”
“Yeah you're right, let's not worry about it”
“ Look Flutter! The two love birds are getting along so well!”
Whispered Gigi, from behind a corner, spying on Brightney and Connie.
“!!!”
Flutter was enjoying the view, but suddenly she catched something from the corner of her eye…
“.....?....!!!!!!!!!!!!”
It was Vee! She was approaching the lover pair quickly. Flutter was fast to warn Gigi
“ What is it, Flutter? What?... What is she doing here? This can't be good, I'm gonna talk to her”
Before Gigi could even step a foot forward,
CRASH!!!!!
POW!!!!
BANG!!! BANG!!!!!!
!!!BOOM!!!!
BANG!!!!!!
Vee blasted from the top of her speakers, a terrifying shooting audio. As soon as the sound echoed through the entire room, Connie jumped so high from her seat she could've touched the ceiling. She screamed so loud, the entire building could hear her. She bolted to the other side of the room as quickly as lightning, she was terrified, shaking. Her pupils were as small as little dots from fear.
Air.
She couldn't breathe, she gasped for air desperately. SHE NEEDS TO BREATHE
“ NO, PLEASE NO *HIC* I-I CAN'T *SOB*”
Connie broke down, sobbing loudly. She couldn't form full sentences, her mind was racing. She covered her head with her arms, crawled up in a ball, crying her eyes out on the floor. She couldn't find the strength to float anymore.
“VEE, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND, YOU PSYCO!!!!!”
Shouted Gigi from across the room. She was one of the only people who knew about Connie’s phobia.
“ WHAT?!, IF CONNIE CAN'T HANDLE A LITTLE SCARE, SHE SHOULDN'T BE SCARING OTHERS!!”
The sound of Gigi arguing with Vee was muffled. Brightney was distressed, what should she do in this situation? She looked at the TV and gachapon, and then at Connie, totally terrified. Connie needs help.
The lamp sprinted in the ghost’s direction and fell to her knees.
“CONNIE,Connie look at me! Are you okay? No of course not, why did I ask?!!?. Oh, what do i do?????”
Brightney didn't now what to do, so she did the only logical thing.
“ It's okay, it's going to be okay, d-don't worry, I'm here with you, focus on me”
“*SOB* *HIC* DON'T LEAVE, *SOB* S-STAY, I-I. i'm scared…Please *hic**hic*”
Brightney gave Connie the tightest hug she could ever give, and Connie didn't dare to let go. She was holding Brightney like it was the end of the world.
“ Let's go to my room okay? There is quiet, you'll like it, I promise, just relax…”
“ o-Okay….. *sob*”
Brightney carried the crying ghost in her arms, still shaking from the shock, her tail wrapped around the lamp's waist as they walked. They got to the lamp’s room and sat on a bean bag
“ It's okay now, don't worry, Vee is gone”
Connie cried softly on Brightney's shoulder, Brightney caressing the ghost's back. She was starting to calm down. They spent some time together until Connie got back on track.
When Connie finally calmed down completely, the two ended the hug that lasted for so long. Now just sitting in silence.
“ Thank you”
“ No problem, Connie….. huuum, I wanted to ask you, If it's not a problem, could you explain what exactly happened? But only if you want to! You don't need to say anything if you're uncomfortable!”
“ I really owe you an explanation, don't I?...
Well, basically, as you could see, I'm deadly afraid of gunshots, I can't stand it…The sound terrifies me, just talking about it makes me shiver. The cause for that is my character. I'm made like this… I'm born to be afraid of it.. And i- I hate it so much.. i-”
Confessed Connie, on the verge of tears. She couldn't explain it. It was just so frustrating to be in this position, she hated being afraid.
“ Hey, hey, I can see you're not comfortable, let's change the subject. What about I get something for us to eat, and then we can read a story together?”
“T-that…would be very nice”
“ Well then wait here, I'll be right back”
And so Brightney left the room to get a snack for both, and Connie stayed. She decided to choose a book to read. One with a simple story, just something to wind down.
When Brightney got back with a jar of cookies baked by Cosmo, the pair sat down and read the chosen book by the ghost. They sat there for god knows how long, until it was late. Both could feel a warm feeling when by each other. Brightney never actually noticed how she was always kinda nervous and stupidly happy when Connie was around. It was a funny feeling, and that was happening again, with Connie so close.
“ It's night already? Wow, time flies. I guess I need to head out to my room”
“ Oh… Yes, it is pretty late”
Responded Brightney, slightly disappointed. She did want to stay more in Connie’s company. But she needed to go.
Brightney accompanied the ghost to the door.
“Bye Brightney, it was super fun spending time with you. And thank you again for helping, and everything”
“ Bye Connie. Oh! And before you go”
Connie received a good-bye kiss on the cheek from Brightney, her cheeks were a whole new shade of blue. She was totally shocked, she couldn't even process what happened.
Both headed to their rooms, totally in disbelief of what occurred just a minute ago.
“ B-b-Brightney kissed m-me”
Connie’s ghost tail was wagging fast, she was so happy she could explode! She flopped on bed and laughed into the pillow, hugging it tight.
Now with Brightney. She couldn't believe that she had the courage to do that, but she did, and was very, very happy.
“ Oh my, what did I do?... It was completely in auto pilot. Did Connie like it? Does she even like me back? She didn't seem to complain. Do I even have a chance?”
Even though Brightney was very happy, she couldn't help but question everything. Her light bulb was shining so bright it illuminated the entire room.
The couple could just wonder what tomorrow could be.
