Work Text:
"That's all for the briefing. Please don't forget to pass this on to Fushiguro. And please give him the tablet with the data on it as well. Do you have any questions?"
"No, I'm fine!"
"Alright then, I'll be counting on you on the day of the mission. That's all for today. You're dismissed. Good work."
Ijichi-san pushed up his glasses with a quick motion.
"Yes, thank you very much!"
I got out of the passenger seat with its high-quality upholstery, closed the door, and bowed deeply. Ijichi-san's car drove off into the distance.
My name is Mob-yama, a first-year at Jujutsu High. Though I'm a student, I don't have a cursed technique, so I'm studying to become an assistant manager. Lately, to get used to being in the field, I've been accompanying Ijichi-san to observe missions. After an observation, my routine is to get a ride back to the dorms and be briefed in the car about the next mission. He said the next one was for a fourth-year, Fushiguro-senpai, but he's a brilliant upperclassman, so there shouldn't be any problems.
Just as I was thinking that and about to head back to my room, Ijichi-san's car, which should have already left, came speeding back.
"Mob-yama-kun…! I forgot to tell you something important. There's one thing I must tell you about Fushiguro. You must never go near his room on the night of the third Saturday of every month. The following Sunday is off-limits, too. Do you understand?! Make sure you give him the message and the tablet before then, okay?!"
For Ijichi-san, who was always so calm in front of an assistant manager trainee like me, to be speaking so quickly and in such a fluster was unusual, and it startled me a little. "Uh, y-yes…" I managed, my reply lacking conviction.
"Okay, I've told you," Ijichi-san said, then drove off again.
What on earth was that all about? I'm not supposed to go near his room on his day off, not on a weekday when he has a mission…? Does he not want his privacy disturbed? Does he go to bed incredibly early? My mind raced with possibilities, but no plausible answer came to me.
Well, luckily, today was the third Monday. There was still time until Saturday. The next mission was on the fourth Monday, so as long as I handed everything over sometime this week, there wouldn't be a problem.
"Guess I'll go grab some food for now."
I stretched with a grunt and headed for the dorms without giving it another thought.
"I… I forgot…"
It was currently 10:00 PM on the third Saturday. I had completely forgotten to give Fushiguro-senpai the message and the tablet… My talent for being a background character in a fanfic is terrifying… He has a mission first thing Monday morning. I could send the briefing details in an email as a last resort, but he'd probably need to check the tablet packed with confidential information beforehand, so handing it to him on the morning of the mission was out of the question.
"Ten o'clock, huh…"
It was borderline rude to show up this late, but if by some chance my upperclassman was out all day tomorrow, Sunday, we'd both be in a bind.
"You must never go near his room on the night of the third Saturday of every month."
Ijichi-san's voice echoed in my head, but this was an emergency. It couldn't be helped. Besides, tomorrow was a day off for everyone. There was a chance he was staying up late… maybe. I'm sorry, Ijichi-san. This is the first time I'm breaking a promise to you!
Wracked with guilt, I headed to my upperclassman's room. As I stood before the door, I heard what sounded like sobbing from inside, and I froze in surprise. What?! Is Senpai… crying…? No, no way. It must be the TV or something, right? With that thought, I knocked on Fushiguro-senpai's door. Knock, knock…
"Sorry for the late hour! It's about the next mission, I absolutely have to give you a message…"
The next moment, a loud thud came from inside the room. I could also hear hushed whispering.
Fushiguro-senpai…? And is someone else in there?
As I wondered, the door clicked and opened just a crack, and Fushiguro-senpai peeked his head out. But the sight of him made me freeze solid…
"…Ngh, Mob-yama…? Wh-what is it?"
His shirt was disheveled in a way I could never imagine from my always-put-together upperclassman, his eyes were moist, his skin was slick with sweat… and his slacks, which he must have just hastily pulled on, had a loose belt… He was radiating an incredible, sexy pheromone… Could this be…?
"Senpai, by any chance… is your girlfriend over?"
"?! …Huh?! No, it's not like that…"
My upperclassman's flushed cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red as he mumbled in a fluster. The door wasn't even halfway open, so I couldn't see inside, but his reaction was unmistakable. If that was the case, then I was being a massive third wheel.
"I'm so sorry! To interrupt your precious rendezvous… Here, this is the tablet with the data for Monday's mission! I'll email you the rest of the details…"
Just as I was about to hand him the tablet, a white arm shot out from the darkness and dragged Fushiguro-senpai back into the room.
"Wai—Nngh—!"
With a slam, the door shut. Through the single plank of wood separating us, I could sense Fushiguro-senpai desperately trying to stifle his voice. And there was some kind of… rattling sound… Also, I feel like that arm came from a really high position. Is his partner… a model? Or a foreigner?
"What do I do… The t-tablet… I couldn't give it to him…"
As I stood there, stunned into silence in front of the room, someone suddenly spoke to me.
"Huh? You're a first-year, right? What're you doing? I don't think Fushiguro's available right now."
"I-Itadori-senpai!"
I explained the situation from start to finish. "Fushiguro-senpai's girlfriend is super passionate, isn't she!" I added excitedly, and my upperclassman scratched his head with a troubled look.
"Mmm, well, she's definitely passionate. Anyway, your timing was just bad. The third Saturday night is, how do I put it… it's just a no-go. I'm heading out now anyway to pull an all-nighter playing games with some of the alumni. If you really have to talk to him, at least wait until tomorrow, uh, let's see, maybe the evening, okay?"
He flashed a refreshing smile and said, "See ya! Don't stay up too late!" before leaving.
I see. As expected of his best friend, Itadori-senpai. He's being considerate and leaving the adjacent room empty for Fushiguro-senpai tonight… Thinking about it that way made me regret my tactless actions even more. Still, if he was having his girlfriend over, I wish Ijichi-san had just told me instead of being so vague.
"Can't be helped. I'll do it tomorrow. I'm getting a little hungry anyway."
And so, I headed back to my room for a late-night snack.
It was now Sunday. The time was 3:30 PM. Last night, Itadori-senpai had told me to wait until evening if I had business with him, but here I was, unrepentant, standing in front of Fushiguro-senpai's door again.
I had completely forgotten that I was supposed to have a hot pot party with the other first-years today. We still had to go shopping, prep, and cook, and then by the time we were done eating and having fun… it would be the middle of the night. I had to avoid forgetting to deliver the tablet at all costs. It was a little early to call it "evening," but I figured I'd get my errand out of the way first. The moment I was about to knock, the door opened quietly with a click.
My eyes widened at the unexpected person who appeared before me.
"Go—!"
I was about to shout "Gojo-sensei!!!" at the top of my lungs, but I managed to hold it back when he put a finger to his lips in a "shhh" gesture. Still, why was Gojo-sensei coming out of Fushiguro-senpai's room? He was a god-like figure, so much so that my classmates and I would normally make a huge fuss just seeing him, shouting, "It's the real Gojo Satoru!" let alone speaking to him. This was the first time I'd seen him this close, and his aura was incredible. And today, instead of his usual blindfold, he was wearing sunglasses.
"You came by yesterday too, didn't you? What's up?"
"Ah… y-y-yes, sir, sorry. I forgot to give this tablet to Fushiguro-senpai… Um, is Fushiguro-senpai…?"
I was so overwhelmed by his presence that my voice cracked.
"Hm? Oh, sorry about that. Megumi can't get up yet, he's still sleeping in bed… I'll give this to him. Thanks."
He took the tablet and ran a hand through his hair. "Anything else?" he asked. In that instant, through the gap in the shirt he had thrown on, I saw it.
A massive number of hickeys.
"Ngh… Satoru… san?"
From the back of the room, I heard Fushiguro-senpai's voice, and my heart skipped a beat.
"Megumi, sorry, did I wake you? Want some water?"
The way he said "Megumi" was laced with a sweetness that someone like me had no right to hear, and in that single moment, I understood everything.
(I-I am so sorry!)
I bowed my head repeatedly in a silent apology, and I saw Gojo-sensei give me a slow wink from behind his sunglasses. Unlike last night, the door closed slowly and quietly this time.
I couldn't hear any voices, but an unbelievably intense atmosphere was radiating from beyond the door. Overwhelmed by the cloyingly sweet mood, I finally collapsed to my knees right there.
Ijichi-san, Itadori-senpai… I'm so sorry for not listening to you…
That night, for a rare change, I couldn't taste the food at the hot pot party through my excitement, shock, and confusion.
……………………
"Was someone here…?"
Megumi, wearing nothing, propped himself up in bed. He looked a little sleepy, probably because their reunion had been a long time coming and Satoru hadn't let him go until dawn. Gojo got a bottle of water from the fridge, loosened the cap, and handed it to Megumi before sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Yeah, that first-year kid. He came by last night, too…"
He passed the tablet to Megumi, who seemed to know who he was talking about before he even said the name.
"Eh? Mob-yama? The tablet… Satoru-san, you know the rule is that it has to be handed directly to me since it's confidential information, right? You should have just called me."
"Ehh, no way. There's absolutely no way I'm letting anyone else see you looking all sexy. I told you to ignore him last night, but you went out there looking like that."
Gojo pouted, grumbling.
"…Honestly. What are you talking about? And they'd be shocked if you suddenly came out of my room… wait, you went out dressed like that?!"
Megumi, finally noticing Gojo's attire, grabbed his shirt. Through the gaps of the completely unbuttoned shirt, the evidence of their night of lovemaking—a massive number of hickeys—was on full display. "Huh? Yeah, I did," Gojo replied with a feigned innocence, and Megumi's face grew redder and redder.
"Like this… they'll know in a second…"
His reaction was so adorable that Satoru couldn't resist planting a soft kiss on the space between his eyebrows.
"It was just for a second, it's fine ♡."
That was a lie. He had actually shown off the hickeys on purpose, thinking about the future. Besides, he figured the kid already knew they were in the middle of something the moment Megumi went to the door looking like that last night, but he kept that to himself, lest he be denied entry from now on.
As jujutsu sorcerers with extremely busy schedules, it was rare for the two of them to have the same days off, even on weekends. That's why they arranged to take a vacation together at least once a month. The fourth Sunday was their day off. Therefore, the time starting from the night of the preceding Saturday was time for just the two of them, a time when they wanted no interruptions. He had arranged for Ijichi to notify everyone (in secret from Megumi, of course)… That kid deserves a good slap, he thought to himself.
"Faaah… I'm getting hungry. Come to think of it, the first-years said they were having a hot pot party today to get to know each other."
"Heeh, that's nice, even though it's gotten pretty warm already. Ah, to be young. Should we have hot pot tonight, too? We can invite Yuji and the others."
"That sounds good. But…"
Megumi leaned in, and their lips met.
"I want to be alone with you for just a little longer."
"Since we finally have the day off," he whispered against Satoru's lips. This time, Satoru initiated the kiss, gently pulling Megumi into his arms.
