Pokemon meet up

Summary:

A Pokemon Au story about how the girls met their first Pokemon.

Chapter 1: Rumi and Mimikyu

Chapter Text

Rumi kicked another rock.

She was bored. Celine had told her she was busy and to go play, but play with who? She wanted to play with Celine or Entei, but Celine said she needed him.

She kicked another rock.

She was too young to have a Pokémon herself, and Celine had all her Pokémon with her. No one else was even around the sanctuary, it was practically cut off from all civilization. Even when people and Pokémon showed up it was only to meet with Celine.

She kicked another rock.

She was alone. She had no friends, no Pokémon.

She kicked another rock.

It hit something. The sound caught Rumi’s attention, because it didn’t sound like dirt or anything else that should be around.

She followed the rock and moved some of the tall grass that bordered the path. She gasped in delight. It was dirty, chipped, and scratched up, but it was a Poké ball.

Celine never let her near the Poké balls, both the empty ones and her personal ones. But Celine couldn’t take this one away, finders, keepers. Right?

Unless this one wasn’t empty.

It would be wrong to take someone else’s Pokémon. If they lost it, they might be out looking for them.

Rumi carefully picked up the Poké ball. She examined it closely. It wasn’t anything special. It was just an average Poké ball, not a master or primer like she had seen Celine with. It felt heavier than it looked. She gently tossed it and hoped she wasn’t wrong.

The Poké ball sprung open before it hit the ground. A red light shot out and landed on the ground taking shape. As the ball landed back into her hand the light turned into a Pokémon she didn’t recognize.

“Mimi-Kyu!” It spoke.

Rumi tilted her head as she looked at it. It almost looked half Wobbuffet, half Pickachu.

“Mimi?” It asked looking around. It sighed when it didn’t find what it was looking for and turned to Rumi.

Rumi had done her homework about Pokémon, but she also knew there were way more than the ones she knew.

“Oh, Hi. My names Rumi, what’s yours?”  she asked. It was good manners to introduce yourself first, at least that’s what Celine had taught her.

“Mimikyu.” It squalled with delight. Its head, or at least Rumi thought it was it’s head, flopped around.

“Do you know how you got here?” She asked.

“Mimi-Kyu.” It shook its ‘head’.

“Oh. What about your partner can you tell me their name?”

“Mimi.” It said happily.

Rumi sighed in thought. “I don’t know anyone by that name.”

“Mimi.” It sighed.

“Oh but that doesn’t mean we can’t find them. I mean I don’t know a lot of people. But I’m sure Celine knows. She knows a lot of people.”

“Mimi?” It asked.

“Oh yeah, Celine is my guardian. It’s like a protector.”

“Mimi. Mimikyu.” It said.

“I don’t think it’s the same Celine. She’s really nice especially to Pokémon.” Rumi said.

“Mimikyu.” It hissed.

Rumi puffed out her cheek. She wanted to help but Mimikyu didn’t want to meet Celine and Rumi wasn’t sure if she could help without Celine. Suddenly an idea popped into her head. She held out her hand to Mimikyu.

Mimikyu slightly moved back unsure of what she was doing.

Rumi then held out her pinky. “How about I promise to keep you safe until we find your partner.”

“Mimi?” It asked.

“A promise. It’s like a vow. I will keep you safe until I can return you to your partner.

The two black spots on its chest widened. From under the body a black claw like hand emerged and carefully took Rumi’s pinky.

“There. It’s a promise.” She smiled.

“Mimikyu.” It cheered.
