A First Second Chance

Summary:

For Rook she has gone by many names long before she was known as Rook. She has spent most of her life running from one thing or another. Whether it would be a so called prophecy or the gods who would use her for one thing or another. When she went through the eluvian it was supposed to take her to somewhere new so she could start again. Instead she finds herself back in time and facing someone she did not think she would ever see again. Since she was the one to kill her at Morrigan's behest. Now Flemeth has an offer for her and it might just be too tempting for her to turn down. Especially since it's a chance to do everything all over and maybe do it right this time. Then again knowing her record it might just go wrong once more. Only time will tell. Still she can't help but wonder if Flemeth has her own reasons for being helpful and just how high of a price she might have to pay in return.

Chapter 1: Why Does This Feel So Familiar Oh Because It Is

Chapter Text

There were many times Rook thought about what she would do differently if she could go back in time. She just never thought the option would be given to her until the eluvian she went through brought her into Flemeth's hut of all places. Something told her that the witch may have meddled with her eluvian to bring her at this place at this particular time even if she could not prove it. The next thought that came to her mind was that she wondered what time she was actually brought to and if the blight was about to begin or if it already happened. How much of Flemeth's meddling possibly changed things or if they would remain the same. Instead of asking one of the million questions that came to her mind she chose a seat across from Flemeth and let her speak for what felt like an eternity. But more then likely was probably about an hour at most. Rook has lived long enough to know making a deal with what she now knew was a goddess would probably bite her in the ass but she had a chance to make everything right and she was going to take it. So she cut her hand and murmured a spell watching as a mark appeared on her arm. She was now Flemeth's champion and something told her she would probably be called to fight for her in time if certain events happened like they occurred previously.

Growing up among the dalish Rook for the longest time felt like there was something different about her compared to her clan. She would look at her skin and notice how she was much darker then the rest along with being much taller. It wasn't until she reached the age where she would get her markings that she was told the truth about her past. Well as much as they were told when a stranger left her with them as a baby. How they believed that she might be a child of one of their gods and that they were entrusted with her until she was strong enough to travel on her own. By the time she left her clan behind she learned how to blend in thanks to using a glamour and decided to travel a bit more trying to find out if she could learned about her true origins. One day while deep inside her dreams a voice spoke to her and told her to travel to a place where people frequently used magic and the gods walked amongst regular people quite often. During one of her travels a dragon was slain and she absorbed it's essence along with it's knowledge and she learned a little about her past. Along with a prophecy that she wanted to make sure it would never come to pass. A warning about not only the coming blight and how it would destroy everything in it's path but also that she would kill the one she loved the most.

Silver eyes close and she clenches her fists hard enough to draw blood remembering the day everything went horribly wrong. Before relaxing her grip telling herself this time she would make better choices. She just needed the wardens to trust her so she could fight along side them once more. A part of her wondered if the same wardens would survive or not. All she needed to do was make up a perfectly good excuse in order to make sure she would be at the right point at the right time. Duncan would be the perfect person to convince and she knew where he might be right about now. Closing her eyes she murmured a spell and was pleasantly surprised when a old friend was standing right in front of her. Since she wasn't sure if it would work but for once she's glad to be proven wrong.

"Ready for an adventure old friend?"
"I would be mad if you didn't bring me along Rook."
