Aria and Yuki are learning magic at Cadence university. One day, Yuki finds an old history book at a bookstore and buys it. When Yuki and Aria get home, they start reading it.
In the book, there are many legends and myths. One particular legend, The Legend of the Fallen Angel, caught both of their attention. Not only have they heard of this legend, they have also seen the symbol described in the book. What will they do next?

Chapter Text

No one’s POV

“Long, long ago, celestial beings known as the Harmonizers created Harmonia. The leader of the Harmonizers was known as the Conductor. The Conductor was the one who created the Harmonizers and together, they created the world’s first melody. After creating the world, the Conductor knew that they couldn’t maintain the balance of the world by themselves, so they created The Music Strings System. The system was a type of magic that the humans could use to cast spells and make melodies to create unique sounds and spells.”

“But everything always has a dark side to it. While creating the system and the world, an error occurred in the code. The code was scrapped, but the angels in charge of disposing error codes forgot to properly dispose of the code, and the code mutated. Code 001, also known as Morris, escaped the disassembly angels and went down to the world without being detected. One day, Morris decided to make a move on a city called Notain. Since Morris was born from a celestial code, the entity had powers that rivals the Harmonizers themselves.”

“After a few days, Morris had completely taken over the entire town of Notain. The citizens of Notian were all terrified of the entity, and when the angels arrived to try to free the city, Morris killed almost half of them. The rest of the angels were held as prisoners of the entity. The situation got so bad that the Conductor had to step in and try to capture Morris. In the end, Morris was finally caught after 10 years, and the cities affected were free. The capture of the entity took a toll on the Conductor, so they had to rest.”

“Ever since then, no one had seen or heard from any of the Celestial beings. Morris was locked in a chamber in the Celestial City, and humanity was thriving,” said the history professor, Mr. Gowan. He was rambling on and on about the history of Harmonia, and half of the class wasn’t even paying attention to what he was saying.

Aria sat in the back of the classroom, doodling on her lined paper. She was one of the students who were doing other things while Mr. Gowan was talking. Today was the first day of the first semester of university, and she was thinking of a way to convince her parents to let her stay at the student dorms. After a while, class ended and all the students started to head down to the auditorium for a quick welcome speech. She wondered why they put the welcome speech at the end of the school day.

As the students filed into the auditorium, the staff were making sure there was no chaos.Aria picked a seat in one of the middle rows so she could see better. After all the students sat down, the principal started her speech.

“Welcome everyone to a new year at Cadence University! I hope you all had a wonderful summer! We will now begin the expectations presentation!”

“Now then, let’s talk about the expectations. This school is a magic school, so all of you will be expected to follow the magic user guidelines. The guidelines are in the student handbook.”
After they finished the expectations speech, the principal said “That’s all for today, I hope you all have a wonderful semester!”

As the students started to leave, Aria called her parents to ask if she could stay at the student dorms. Surprisingly, her parents said yes this time.

“Aria, me and your father had a talk, and we decided that you should choose where you want to stay now.”

“Really?”

“Yes honey, you’re 19 now. You can make your own choices, but please visit us sometime.”

“Okay, bye mom, bye dad!”

“Bye sweetie!”

Aria hung up the phone and started walking towards the office. When she entered, there weren't a lot of people there, so she walked to one of the front desks and registered for a dorm room. Once she got her dorm key, she went to the dorms and started looking for her dorm. Once she found it, she went in.

As she opened the door, she saw another student in the dorm. The other student looked up from their book as she entered. She quickly closed the door behind her and started introducing herself.

“Hello, I’m Aria.”

“Hello, I’m Yuki.”

Aria looked around the dorm and saw that there were two rooms. One with a ‘Do Not Enter’ sign on it and another with nothing on it. “Oh yeah, your room is over there,” Yuki said as they pointed to the empty door. “By the way, my pronouns are they/them.” Aria nodded and headed towards her room.

When she went into her room, she got a notification from her phone. It read ‘Yuki: This is my number in case you need to tell me something.’ Aria texted ‘ok, thanks for letting me know.’ After that, she started decorating her room with the stuff she had on her. She made a note to visit her parents on the weekend to get her stuff from her room.

After a while, she finished setting some things up, and walked out of her room. Yuki was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and they heard Aria come out.

“Hey Aria, I made dinner, if you want some you can have some.”
Aria looked at them, and then asked “really?”

“Yeah. I made a little too much.”

“Ok, thanks!”

Yuki smiled as Aria went to grab utensils for both of them. “Man, she’s kinda cut- WAIT, what am I even thinking about right now. She’s your roommate, you just met her, CALM DOWN. She’s probably not even interested.” By the time Yuki had calmed down, Aria noticed them panicking.

“Hey Yuki?”

“Hmm?”(they tried to sound like they weren’t panicking a few seconds ago, it’s not working btw)

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah? Why wouldn’t I be?”

“It’s just that… your face is kinda red and you looked like you were panicking-”

Yuki stared at her for a few seconds, before they processed what she said.

“OH UMM- I think my face is red from the heat, YEAH TOTALLY FROM THE HEAT!”

Yuki fanned themselves while Aria stared at them.

“Oh, that makes sense.”

Yuki breathed out a sigh of relief, and headed over to the table where Aria was sitting.

The two ate in silence until Aria suddenly said “This is really good. You’re a great cook Yuki.”

Yuki felt their face warm up when Aria said this.

“Oh, thank you Aria.”

After they finished eating, Aria insisted on washing the dishes. Yuki gave in and let her wash the dishes after a while.

When Aria finished washing the dishes, they sat on the couch and started talking about their personal lives.

“Aria, were you born in Cadence?”

“Nope, I was born in Melodia and I moved here when I was 3 years old.”

“Oh, my parents were from Melodia too…”

“What are your parents like?”

Yuki shifted in their spot. The topic of their parents was always a sensitive one. Aria noticed their change in demeanor.

“Oh, I’m sorry, is that a sensitive topic?”

Aria looked worried and a little guilty.

“Yeah, it’s okay Aria. You didn’t know.”

The two sat there in silence for a few minutes before Aria broke the silence.

“So, umm, Yuki.”

“Yes?”

“Umm, can I ask you a question?”

“Sure, go ahead.”

“Are you, like, queer?”

Yuki almost spit out their water.

“Umm, I’m non-binary and bi, why?”

“Oh, umm, because uhh, nevermind.”

“What about you then?”

Aria started playing with her jacket sleeve.

“I’m pan.”

The two sat in silence for a while, until Aria broke the silence.

“ANYWAYS it’s getting kinda late, we should go sleep,” said Aria.

“Good idea.”

“Goodnight Yuki.”

“Goodnight Aria.”

The two students went to their rooms and got ready for bed. As Aria was drying her hair, she started thinking of what to bring to her new room. Yuki, on the other hand, was still having bi panic (me core). After a while both of them finished what they were doing and went to sleep.

In the darkness of the night, an entity was planning an escape plan to get out of the Celestial City’s prison chamber. No one knows what it was planning, as everyone was asleep, and the chamber was strong enough to contain the entity. “Ah yes, this plan will work. All I need to do right now, is wait for the right moment. When I escape, they will all regret locking me up in this dark hole…”
