"A kid made this? For me?"
Almost reverently, Nimona touches the drawing of herself — surrounded by hearts with the words "We love Nimona" scrawled at the top.
"Is that so hard to believe?" Ballister asks gently, and she hastily swipes at the sudden moisture at her eyes.
"Just... Kids always wind up pointing swords at me. Even when I make myself small."
She sees Gloreth — golden hair lit up by flames — then a scared child struggling to lift a knight's discarded weapon.
Ballister ruffles her hair, bringing her to the present. "There are few things as terrifying as little girls."
