Summary:

"A kid made this? For me?"

or

a 100 word drabble inspired by the Nimona Week 2026 Day 1 prompts "little Nimona" and "memories"

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

"A kid made this? For me?"

Almost reverently, Nimona touches the drawing of herself — surrounded by hearts with the words "We love Nimona" scrawled at the top.

"Is that so hard to believe?" Ballister asks gently, and she hastily swipes at the sudden moisture at her eyes.

"Just... Kids always wind up pointing swords at me. Even when I make myself small."

She sees Gloreth — golden hair lit up by flames — then a scared child struggling to lift a knight's discarded weapon.

Ballister ruffles her hair, bringing her to the present. "There are few things as terrifying as little girls."

Notes:

Thanks for reading! Please check out Nimona Week on Tumblr!

Note: This is not intended as Demon Baby or genderqueer Nimona erasure — "little girls" is just referencing their first meeting and the shape Bal's seen Nimona take before to attempt de-escalation (in addition to the shape in the scroll).
