Work Text:

Every day was the same. Scotty’s dad got pissed and took it out on him or his mom, and Scotty would be left to try and sleep on his own. It wasn’t the best, but he was used to it. There weren’t really any other options.
Except for this night. Billy and Craig knew all about his dad, and after school one day, when they were all piled in Billy’s garage, they posed the question.

“Why don’t we all sleep here?” Billy asked, a grin present on his face. “I wouldn’t mind. My room’s big enough.”
“Yeah!” Craig added. “It’d be easier, I bet.”
Scotty laughed softly, but he was seriously considering. “I mean, it’s better than what I’ve got. I’ll try it.”
“Woo!” Craig shouted, making the rest of the trio erupt into laughter. “This is gonna be great. I haven’t had a sleepover since I was a little kid!”
They all hung in the garage for most of the day. Eventually, though, they did retreat up to Billy’s room. It was slightly smaller than expected, but large enough to give them all space.
“I have extra blankets for you guys.” Billy chimed as they entered.

However, those extra blankets were not needed.
At first, Scotty and Craig had opted to sleep on the floor. Those blankets came in handy then, sure, but not when Scotty began struggling with sleep. He wasn’t exactly used to this. The soft snores of his friends were more comforting than his silent bedroom, but he couldn’t help but be lost in thought anyway. He still worried for his mom back at home without him; how could he not?
“Scotty,” someone murmured. He turned to face Billy, who had crept to the edge of the bed. “Are you.. able to sleep?”
“Nah, not really. No big deal, though,” Scotty whispered back. Billy frowned.
“Come up,” he said, shifting so Scotty could join him. And that he did; he clambered onto the bed and sat next to Billy on the edge.
“Craig!” Billy said, as loud as he could without waking anyone else in the house. Craig poked his head up from the other side of the bed, before climbing up himself. Billy nudged Scotty between the two.
“Aw, what’s this all about?” Scotty asked playfully. In response, Craig hugged him, bringing them both into a lying position. Billy joined them, wrapping his arms lazily around Scotty, who had his back to him. He began peppering kisses along Scotty’s exposed shoulder, wherever he could reach. His lips were cold; it sent shivers down Scotty’s spine.
Craig, meanwhile, moved his hand upward to gently rub Scotty’s jawline with his thumb. This, too, made him shudder.
“You’re safe here, dude,” Billy hummed into his skin. It was actually strangely comforting. Being able to receive affection like this from his own best friends was certainly something new, but he would never complain. He enjoyed it.
The warm, rhythmic sensation of their breath against his skin was enough to lull him into sleep. It was probably the best sleep he’d ever had.
