Work Text:

You know those days where you just feel like everything is crumbling around you, and nothing and no one is able to change that? Yeah. That’s where San is today. An onset of depression that seemingly came out of nowhere. All he’s done today so far was wake up, use the washroom, and go back to bed with the blankets hiding him from the world.

Wooyoung is worried. Like, scared shitless. He’s never seen his boyfriend this sad before. And over nothing? He had to find a way to coax San out of this state. He wants his Sandeoki back ASAP, and he won’t take ‘go away’ for an answer.

After his morning run, Wooyoung comes back into their room to see San in bed. He decides to snuggle up beside him, still in his sweaty workout clothes. “Sannie-ya... you’ve been here all day...!” San unamusedly groans, “mmm... No ‘m not...” This elicits a sigh from Wooyoung. “It’s noon, baby. Please get up.” San, not one to be told by his baby boy to get out of bed, says “make m’...”

Wooyoung sees this as a challenge. He’s decently well built, but nowhere near the absolute beefcake of a man laying next to him. But he could hold him in his arms when they first started dating 8 years ago, so this couldn’t be that hard, right? So Wooyoung pulls the sheets off of San, and before he can replace them, wraps his arms around the hunk’s torso and pulls towards himself. ‘Fuck, he’s heavy’, Wooyoung thinks. After 15 minutes of pulling at him, San hasn’t moved much. But it did get his attention.

“Jagi... what are you... doin’...?” San mumbles. “Trying to wake you up! Let’s go!” Wooyoung says, his voice straining from the exertion of moving a man not even a year older than him. “Fine... b’t... careful...?” is the next thing from San’s brain. “Of course, Sannie. Careful.” Wooyoung responds, then continues to pull his boyfriend out of bed. It takes another 30 minutes to pull this buff baby out of their bed and stand him up, but once that’s achieved, they saunter on down to the living room.

“Sannie. Hyung. Talk to me. Why are you like this?”

“Don’t... know...” San sniffles, on the verge of tears.

“Are you hungry? Do you want a strawberry shortcake?”

San nods weakly.

Wooyoung gets up from the couch and gets a slice of the older’s favourite food from the fridge, grabs a fork and brings it to his favourite man.

“Open wide, hyung!”

San does as he’s asked, and chews the cake, smiling as he swallows it. This, Wooyoung thinks, is the perfect tile to lean in for a quick kiss.

“Better?” Wooyoung asks.

“Bit better...” San replies.

“Baby. Tell me what’s up.”

“I feel like shit, Young-ah...” San’s actually about to cry now.

“I know, I know. But why? I don’t want my mountain like this all day.”

San melts his head into Wooyoung’s chest, and starts crying hard. “I feel like everything I do ends up badly...”

The younger’s arms find their way around his head. “Shh... shh... it’s okay, Sandeoki... Do you wanna tell me about it?”

“I keep trying to talk to people, but there’s always something I do which makes them feel uncomfortable... Is it me that’s the problem, Young-ah...?”

“Sannie. Look at me.”

San looks up into his boyfriend’s eyes, hoping what he says next won’t hurt more.

“If someone doesn’t like you for being you, that’s their problem. I love you more than anything in the world, even when it seems like no one else does.” Wooyoung leans down to kiss San again, this time slow, tender, and filled with all the love in his heart.

Once Wooyong pulls away, San stops crying and smiles a bit. “...love you too, Youngie...”

Wooyoung retrieves the plate of strawberry shortcake and gives San another bite. “Feeling better now, hyung?”

“Better... but I would feel even better if I had something else...”

Wooyoung looks over mischievously at his now much higher-spirited boyfriend. “And what could that be, mountain?”

“More cake.”

Wooyoung looks at San with a fake shocked expression, as if that was the last thing he was expecting him to say. “On its way, love!”

The two of them spent the rest of the day not really doing anything, aside from reaffirming their love for each other. Even all these years later, San can’t believe he has such a perfect other half.
