The night was still young, the battle with Grom had just ended a hour ago, Luz and co had spent the rest of the night drinking punch, taking corny photos with filters that made your eyes look sparkly, and over all running around and having fun.
But sooner or later Luz had gotten painfully bored, I mean school dances where never advertised as being super exciting, but Luz wouldn't had known that as she was banned from attending anything her old school hosted since the 4th grade, any other knowledge was from sappy rom com movies. Where the main character and love interest end up dancing together and maybe even a bit of smooching too, oh and fanfics but uh other things would happen there.
Luckily for co, Luz was determined to make this night unforgettable.
Luz groaned as she exited the girls bathroom and clutched her abdomen "Ughhh, why does my stomach hurt so much tonight? I made sure not to grab the glantcakes dipped in griffins milk this morning, but maybe I was mistaken..."
She looked inside the gym and saw about 8 kids inside, two of them where her best buddies Willow and Gus, and at the moment Gus was making an illusion which depicted a ballon dog in a clown costume riding a skateboard upside down. Luz doesn't waste any time making her way to them, the two noticed her and waved her down "hey Luz, we thought you went back to the owl house, if we'd known you were still here we would have saved you some snacks."
"Oh it's fine guys, in my state I probably shouldn't be eating anything else tonight"
Luz said humbly, as she looked around the huge room, she noticed how empty it felt after the fight "ha, I guess Grom was the main event tonight Huh?"
Gus pipes up at this "oh yeah I guess it is, no one usually stays for the actual dance, after the Grom showdown people usually flee to a after party or something. Willow and I are still here so we can get some free munchies."
He stated proudly while putting a finger to his chest.
Luz stood there and pondered for a bit "a after party huh, that sounded like a fun idea"
Luz exclaimed with much enthusiasm while pumping her fist up "that's it! A after party, that's what this night is missing." Willow and Gus looked at the human quizzically, Willow spoke up for the two "what are you getting at?"
Luz now had a huge grin on her face that was beaming with energy "We could have our own after party guys, a great big and fun party for ourselves!"
Unfortunately that quizzical look never left the two witchling's faces, Willow spoke up once again "Luz the last time we were alone at the owl house, it got animated and we almost died!" Willow ended her emphasis with shaking Luz around like a ragdoll.
Luz puts her hands up in her own defense "Okay, ok I know our past hang outs have been more than eventful, but I promise this time it will be uneventful... or less eventful but still packed with action!"
This time around Willow and Gus actually looked like they were pondering the offer before looking at each other and making a face at each other only best friends of years would understand , Willow put her hands on her hips and finally agreed "ok fine, this party is getting a bit boring anyway we just have to stop by our houses to tell our dads where we're going and then we'll come over."
Luz literally jumps from excitement "yes, yes, yes, you guys will not be disappointed, just come around 8 and everything should be in place."
"Alright Luz see you until then." The two waved at Luz as they walked to the exit door of the gym. Luz pondered once again "on the topic of parental figures I need to find Eda and tell her were having company Tonight"
Luz starts to wonder around the school looking for her guardian, around corridors, halls, stairwells you name it but no matter how long or far Luz walked she just couldn't find that slender witch, Luz started to think for a moment that she must have bailed on being a chaperone and started partying somewhere and drinking apple blood.
Luz was still lost in thought, walking aimlessly around the school when she accidentally bumped into someone "hey, idiot watch where your going." The person spat out coldly
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry." Luz apologized profusely, at the same time she took a glyph out her pocket and activated it to see who she bumped into and as the light and color entered her eyes she could see that it was her new friend and ex enemy.
"Amity! Just the person I was looking for."
Luz said as she helped her classmate up off the floor, frankly Luz isn't entirely lying when she said she was looking for Amity, she just kind of forgot she was one of her friends, it's only been about a month or two since they officially became acquaintances. As the two stood up amity quickly pulled her hands from Luz's.
"Oh, it's just you, sorry Luz." The witch looked a tad bit red and uncomfortable, luz looked at her sympathetically "it's totally fine amity, I should have activated a glyph a long time ago, uh what are you doing here in the dark?" Luz said as she squinted and looked around, Amity had been sitting in an eerily quiet hall with no one else around.
Amity stammered which was odd for the type of person she was "well it's not that dark for me...do humans not also have mild night vision? "Luz starred amity blankly, Amity decided that was a no " oh well I just wanted to have some alone time after the fight and all, you know recollect my thoughts before Ed and Em take me home." Luz lit up at this statement, this meant she could invite Amity to her after party and potentially mend their relationship even more!
"Hey Amity, I mean if you want to, I'm having a after party at the owl house, only if you want to come that is." Luz said as she sheepishly scratched the back of her head, Luz really hoped Amity would say yes, maybe they could even stay up and talk about the Azura movie trilogy.
Amity started to think about her potential consequences with her parents, but at the same time it would be very nice to be alone with Luz for a night..." Amity finally responded after a few seconds of thinking" yeah sure just need to go tell Ed and Em to cover for me tonight."
Luz gave her a thumbs up, but then she remembered why she was even in the hallway in the first place "hey Amity, have you seen Eda around here? I can't seem to find her after we came back to the school." Luz said this while putting her hands on her hips and slightly looking around the hall.
Amity thought for a moment, she had been so caught up with the crowd surfing earlier and the attention her and Luz had gotten that she hadn't noticed the infamous owl lady never coming back inside the school." sorry Luz but I don't think she ever came back inside the school last I remembered, I think I saw her stopping near the front door. Maybe she's still out there?"
Luz kind of felt like an idiot at this moment, of course... Luz was only looking inside the school. Why would Eda go deeper into the school where no one else was? it didn't really seem like the type of thing Eda would do at least not to Luz's understanding.
"Oh my gosh, thank you Amity, I don't know why I didn't think of doing that in the first place, I guess I'll see you later at the owl house!" Luz said while walking away and waving at amity, leaving amity once again in the dark with her own thoughts.
Luz started to backtrack through the halls and corridors in the in the school, she went down at least five different staircases, and doorways to finally get to the front entrance, where she saw her beloved mentor and parental figure, Eda chatting away with principal bump.
Luz stood there for a moment before the two adults noticed her "oh hey, there kiddo I didn't see you for a moment, what do you need? Did one of the Jackalope or Kraken escape their cages?" Eda said this with a weirdly hopeful smile, Luz knew that she was a sucker for some action, but it was still kind of weird that she had said this. Luz knew the night was going very slow, but she didn't think it was going that slow.
"No Eda, I'm pretty sure those cages are indestructible, Anyway I was wondering if I could borrow the owl house for a few hours so me and my friends could have a small party of sorts." Luz then put her pleading puppy dog eyes on to try to convince Eda even more. "Ughk, OK kid I get it. You don't have to put on those terrifying eyes. All I ask is that you dorks don't animate the house like you did last time." Eda said the last thing sternly, which gave Luz a shiver in her bones "how the hell did Eda know about that"
But alas as soon as that thought came, it also went. Eda had just given confirmation that Luz could have a party at the owl house and she was ecstatic. "Okay Eda I promise that we will not touch even a single dust particle in the house tonight." said Luz, innocently.
"Ok kid, scram me and Bumpikins are trying to discuss some of the new classes we could include into next year's curriculum, I'm thinking about a Hexes holdem class." Eda gave a small wink to Luz while bump just shook his head.
"Edalyn, you know we do not allow gambling on the school premises." Eda just rolled her eyes and motioned Luz to get going.
Luz had finally got to her destination, The Owl house, after a few minutes of jogging all the way from the school, it was so bad that she barely even had any air left in her lungs to say hi to Hooty as she entered the house.
She looked around the house that she had come to call her own after the few months of being apprenticed in the demon realm. The house was only disheveled by a tiny bit, It was obvious that Eda and King had made a rush to get out the house this morning, but this was practically nothing to Luz, She has spent hours at the animal vet when she was younger, just cleaning cages and refilling bowls, So a bit of trash here and there with a few pieces of loose fabric around the house was nothing to her.
She quickly found the broom and dust pan and began to work away, while thinking of all the activities her and the others could participate in later "hmmm maybe I could borrow Eda's crystal ball and we could watch some action packed movies or whatever was popular right now, maybe we could have a small arena while practicing our magic, actually scratch that Eda probably kill me if I tried something like that without her being here, hm I wonder if they like role-playing, that would be interesting and probably very funny as well, especially in real life, where I've only done it online on chat rooms."
Luz kept thinking about all the things that could transpire tonight while finishing up sweeping the last pieces of... well she actually didn't know what she was sweeping, it kind of look like a dust bunny with bones and some blue liquid which she hoped wasn't any type of blood. she shuttered at the thought of what that used to be or what it could have been.
Soon she made her way to Eda's kitchen, Luz didn't really know what was actually tasty to witches, as she was not one and she could only eat a very select options of food here. "I wonder if there's delivery services in the demon realm" she wondered "maybe something equivalent to pizza?"
She decided to scratch the thought of snacks for now, she could worry about that later, instead she went into the hallway, heading to her room which used to be a storage closet that Eda just shoved her various trinkets inside of. but before she could reach the halfway point of the dark and kind of creepy hallway of the house. She heard a knock at the door.
Her heart stopped for a moment, I mean, she was just a teen girl inside of a house all by herself in the demon realm at that. She only knew a few different glyphs at this point, maybe she should've asked king to come with her for some company. But still Luz decided to brave her fears and shuffle to the front door.
"I mean, if it was actually someone dangerous Hooty would probably have swallowed them whole at this point." She thought to herself while also silently freaking out. When Luz opened the door She was actually met with a familiar and surprising face.
It was Amity, Luz was kind of confused at the witchling until she realized she never told Amity the time that she was supposed to arrive, she internally smacked herself on the forehead.
To not be rude and have curtsy for her friend, Luz bowed her head and made room for amity to enter the house " come in Ms. Blight, the par-tay is this way." said Luz in Her most fancy voice impression, amity quickly stepped inside while blushing profusely.
Even though Amity was a bit early to the party Luz still wanted her to feel welcomed so she started with a bit of small talk "ha, I'm surprised hooty didn't give you a hard time just a moment ago." Amity was still blushing and tugging on her dress on top of that, until she heard Luz speaking to her.
"Oh yeah, I guess he learned his lesson from earlier today." she said sheepishly, Luz thought this was a bit odd with how shy amity was acting lately but she decided not to comment on it. "hmm guess he did, you kind of came a bit early but it's fine so don't worry, I was actually on my way to find some board games we could play or something. You can help me look if you want." Amity was now looking at the floor while twiddling her thumbs and was still red in the face.
Luz thought for a moment "does amity have a fever or some other type of demon realm sickness? That could explain why she's been acting weird..."
"Amity, you don't have to stay if you don't want to.." Amity was now shocked out of her la la land or whatever and gave Luz a crooked smile "oh no no, I'm fine, totally fine! Just thinking...of the test on Monday that's all! " Amity said all of this with various voice cracks in between, this statement calmed Luz down, she was glad to hear her dear friend didn't have eyepox or something, of course that was it, the test on Monday. Just because amity is the top student doesn't mean she can't fret over a test.
Luz gave amity a big hug to reassure her for the upcoming test "I'm sure you'll do great" Luz said warmly.
If you could die from embarrassment Amity Blight would have already had a memorial.
"O-kay, Luz." Amity said before pushing Luz off of her. Luz decided to take this as a sign that amity wasn't a touchy type of person, and respected her for it, soon Luz was leading amity to the dark hall way that she had previously been in before amity had knocked, she kind of wished Eda would install more lights in the house, it was really creepy at night. But maybe that would hurt hooty or something, he is the owl house itself.
While Luz was lost in thought for the 50th time this night something suddenly grabbed her forearm, Luz was really trying not to shit herself with how creepy this night had gone so far, Luz turned to see amity grabbing her arm and looked at her confusingly "Is amity also scared of the hall? I thought she said she had night vision" Luz thought while patiently waiting for amity to say something.
After finally mustering up the courage Amity spoke nervously "uh, Luz what you did this night... was very heroic..." amity said this as she was fluttering her eyes and bashfully looking away" uh, for this I feel that it would be the most logical to uh, give you a reward."
Luz was now flustered and blushing a bit too, for someone of amity's demure she hadn't expected this at all. But at the same time amity was rich and fancy, so maybe this was their way of respecting someone. But when amity cupped Luz's face something finally clicked in luz's peanut sized brain "oh my god she going to eat me, I knew it, I should have never-"
...amity had placed her soft lips on Luz's, while her two hands held Luz in place. Their noses rubbed against each other in a awkward way and Luz's lips where a bit chapped, but this did not stop amity from savoring the best moment of her life. But of course as all good things do the good moments have to end at some point and as they parted the mood of the night had certainly shifted in an unexpected way.
Luz honestly didn't know what to do in this situation, she didn't know amity felt this way about her at all, I mean just a few months ago amity was ready to watch her get obliterated by one of her own abominations, just because she wanted to be a witch!
But now here they were,
locking lips on a Friday night.
As they pulled away from the shared kiss Luz couldn't help herself as she started sputtering words with a ever growing scarlet starting to spread across her face "But-"your crush-" "I don't deserve-" at some point Luz ended her nonsense speech with a groan and a literal slap on the face, as she started to calm down. Luz finally decided to look at amity in the eye after her whole freak out, now they both where seriously red in the face.
Amity clutches her the hem of her dress again "uh, so yeah, thanks for taking my place and stuff." Amity was now severely panicking inside her head "oh my titan why would I do that! She probably doesn't even like me like that"
As they both calmed down the silence was deafening, all that could be heard was their own quickened breaths and a slight hum of the house, until Luz's voice pierced through the air.
"Can I have another?" Amity looked at Luz, bewildered at the question. "Uh, yeah that's fine it's your reward after all.." This time Luz was the one the take initiative, as she gently cupped amity's red flushed cheeks, being careful to not cause the sparky crown on the others head to not topple off, as she closed the small space between them.
This time the kiss was more deliberate, soft, needy. As the kiss between the two deepened Amity clutched the back of Luz's tuxedo to bring her closer to her. But as soon as it started it ended, as Luz slowly pulled away. She looked at Amity's illuminated golden eyes in the dimly lit hallway, as her breathing quickened and in the blink of an eye they were at it again. This time it was a bit more desperate than the last, with the two
"heh, so are you just doing this as a reward or do you actually the hots for me?" Luz asked curiously, her face still a dark red tint while she fiddled with Amity's minty green hair.
Amity stammered in embarrassment "Uherm-I uh,j-just a reward." She finally choked out while trying to not let her soul flee from the premises. Luz looked into her yellow glowing cat like eyes, that pretty much lit up in the dim lighted hallway, she had never realized how pretty they were until now.
Luz stayed silent for a moment, pondering. This was the first time she had kissed someone, it felt..nice? And made her all giddy inside, even though Amity's feelings weren't reciprocated, Luz felt as she was swooning over her, seeing amity in a whole different light.
Luz looked away from amity's gaze for moment, she bit her lip in thought. She thought back to all those lovey dovey movies, books, and so on and so forth, and the stuff that would happen in said media.
she glanced back to amity's illuminating eyes for a few seconds before breaking the eye contact again, she thought to herself, about the ridiculous idea that had formed into her head the first time amity had layed her lips upon hers. Was it even a thing in the boiling isles?
Luz finally turned her gaze back to amity's officially, Luz took a deep breath through her nose before placing her hands on the others shoulders "so uh I wanted to try something out" Luz started to get flustered a bit but persisted on with the favor "so, I have never tried this before so I might be bad at it, but uh there's this thing that people do in the human realm and it's kind of like a special way to kiss someone? Uh it's called French kissing, is that a thing here too, or no?"
The silence between them stretched "uh no? What do you mean by that?" Amity responded, reluctantly. Luz got closer if that was even possible, and she softly looked amity in her eyes while placing her hands on placid, pale face.
"Well, from what I've seen it's pretty much when two people uhh, put their tongues in each other's mouths?" now that Luz was thinking about it, describing making out doesn't really sound that much appealing and is probably less appealing to someone who's foreign to the concept.
"Uh, ok now that I'm describing it, it doesn't sound...great, but that's why I wanted to try it with you." Luz could now feel her hands getting sweaty and decide it was probably for the best if she just got it over with instead of stalling.
So with a deep breath she grabbed the back of amity's head and guided their faces toward each other until their lips connected, Luz ran her fingers through amity's undercut as the kiss deepened, Luz's other hand came up to graze amity's smooth cheek and drifted down to her chin, she pushed down which prompted amity to actually open her mouth in which Luz plunged her tongue into.
It felt weird, the hardness of the teeth in contrast with slimy abyss which was the actual mouth itself, their tongues touching each other for the first time felt as they were licking a huge worm. But even with its odd nature it was weirdly satisfying? pleasureful?
Amity tugged at the back of Luz's suit, which she did not even realize she was holding on to. Luz pulled back, panting heavily, face flustered, there was a string of salvia connected to their mouths, "that was gross, but at the same time nice? If that makes sense." Amity chuckled.
"But you liked it didn't you?" Luz said with a smug look on her face, the silence was deafening until they both started to laugh to the point that Luz was on the floor clutching her stomach "Ok maybe I shouldn't had said that." she said while still snickering , she wiped away a tear and looked up to amity "but I'm being serious, did you like it?" Luz said while tilting her head in curiosity.
Shit, that feeling of warmness came back to amity's face as she glanced away from Luz's eye contact " uhh- I mean it was fine, certainly weird but fine." Luz grinned and jumped up back to her feet, she looped her arms around amity's hips with her hands resting on the curve of her back, their foreheads touch, they can feel each other's breath on their faces, amity guided her hands across Luz's cheeks in a loving manner.
The two connected lips once again and started to
Swirl their tongues in each other's mouths, it felt like eternity with how long they were like that, Luz had her tongue practically down amity's throat before she felt a sharp pain on her tongue.
"Crap!" Luz yelled out while clutching her cheek, Amity can to her side with concern plastered over her face while she tried to inspect the problem with her "friend".
"Are you ok? what happened." Amity looked at Luz’s cheek closely with a close eye, Luz stuck out her tongue, it had a red puncture wound on it “ oh shoot I’m so sorry Luz, I must’ve bit you on accident while we were-”
Luz quickly put a hand on amity’s shoulder “it fin amiy,I shoud had gess it woud hapen wit witcs havin shapr teth an all.”(It’s fine amity, I should have guessed it would happen with witches having sharper teeth and all) Luz said reassuringly, giving amity a smile in the process.
amity gave a small smile in return “I uh-” but before she could finish the sound of the fount door opening echoed through the house “Luz, were ready to party!” Gus said enthusiastically.
amity looked at Luz bewildered, she hadn’t known the others were also coming “o shoo I fogt tey wer comin, I comin giys!”(oh shoot I forgot they were coming, I'm coming guys!) Luz yelled out for the others to hear.
She turned around to amity again and gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek before whispering a small “sory.”(sorry.)
As soon as she turned to go down the hallway her stomach made a very low but loud growl as she clutched it and made a pained face.
“o secn tot,mabe not.”(on second thought, maybe not.) she quietly spoke to herself, then ran as quickly as she could to the bathroom at the end of the hall.
amity was left there in the dark hall a bit of pink speckled her face with a mix of annoyance by Luz’s antics, but chuckled to herself “oh Luz.”
The bustle and chatter of students filled the cafeteria, it was the brisk afternoon of a Monday. kids were already grouping up to their respective cliques and started filling the tables. Luz sat down with her tray with mystery globs on it, Gus and Willow were already seated as they had their last class together.
Eda gave Luz a special potion with some horrid side effects to fasten the healing speed on her tongue, so now she could properly speak again in time for school.
It was no time until they started chatting about the weekend and the plans they had for the upcoming week, Luz glanced over to where amity was seated, she was at a table with Boscha and the others but didn’t seem to engaged in the conversation the others were having.
Luz put her attention back to her tray, then she looked at Willow and Gus “are rich people usually weird in the boiling isles?”
