Amusement

Summary:

Attraction, after all, is what amuses Gods of His stature.

Work Text:

It was by pure intrigue that the Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth decided to observe His future vessels. Two tiny humans. Both with fragile, little lives that could end with one flick of His fingers. And still, how curious it is—that these two insignificant lives had the most potential to stall his resurrection. It wasn't like He's concerned, really. For mythical creatures like Him are eternal, and what are earthlings to something inconceivable as a Great Old One? It's only a matter of limitless patience.

But He cannot deny His fascination with such existences. Just as they cannot perceive Him—He, in return, cannot perceive them. How could something in heaven lower themselves on earth? How could earth ever dare to lay their eyes on heaven? How could two intricately different things understand their fundamental differences? How could two opposites ever be understood?

But such is the things of convergence. The Law of Attraction is even more eternal than He. More inconceivable and unpredictable in the way they intimately functioned. Even little similarities could be linked to each other, all threaded together by a red string of fate. And what is law but a concept given meaning? And what is meaning but symbolism? And what is symbolism but an inevitable design? Reasonable developments are simply reasonable developments even if they are illogical and instinctual.

And so, if the Celestial Worthy wishes to observe—then observe He shall. As He pleased, and as expected of Him. And if somewhere along the way, He grew fond, then it is but the Law of Convergence in effect. Attraction, after all, is what amuses Gods of His stature.

The Celestial Worthy's smile was ominous and mysterious. "Zhou it is that continues the footsteps here below," He said. Then with a wave of His hand, a tarot deck appeared out of thin air. "Mingrui isn't necessarily Mingrui, is he not?" He asked, theoretically, hands playfully shuffling the cards. With a graceful flick of His fingers, three cards were pulled out simultaneously. And as they landed, one could see what illustrations were presented on each delicate historical projections.
