Unwell

Summary:

A fever, a phone call, and a single moment of vulnerability pull two teachers closer than either expected. Between the hush of midnight care and the warmth of morning light, affection blooms softly — proof that love doesn’t always announce itself; sometimes, it arrives quietly with soup, gentle hands, and whispered reassurances.

Work Text:

“Ugh… my throat is so sore… it is already 2am… i think i have a fever…” Rati coughs meekly, too lethargic to get out of bed. She weakly reaches out her arm and grabs her phone, noticing Sichuan was online. Without thinking, Rati pressed the call button, and Sichuan picked up.

“Bae?” Sichuan asked confusedly, curious about why Rati would call so late at night.

“H-hey… I-i think i’m sick. Too tired to get up.” Rati mumbled into the phone with fatigue.

Sichuan’s eyebrows scrunched with worry. “Sick? I’m coming over. Give me your address.”

“My address…? It’s alright, really. Don’t you have papers to mark and it is already so late after all…” Rati dismissed.

“Quickly.” A slam could be heard from Sichuan’s background. “Your address. Now.”

“Okay…” Rati murmured, sending Sichuan her address.

“Thank you babygirl. Now, just give me 10 minutes, i’ll be right there.”

Less than 10 minutes later, the doorbell was heard. Rati tiredly got out of bed and opened the door, and Sichuan entered with soup and medicine. Sichuan entered the house, ushering Rati to bed while heating up the soup.

While Rati slept, Sichuan remained beside her, and constantly checked on her temperature, changing the cloth on her forehead to a cold one.

At around 3.45pm, Rati’s eyes opened really quickly as she gagged. Sichuan noticed and immediately brought a pail up to her chin as she puked. Sichuan rubbed Rati’s back gently, whispering words of reassurance and encouraging her to let it all out.

“Let it all out baby. Don’t you feel much better?” Sichuan kissed Rati’s forehead when she was finished puking and brought her to the bathroom to clean up.

Rati slept soundly after that, temperature going down quickly thanks to Sichuan’s help. Despite her temperature being normal by 7am, Rati decided not to go to school to rest and Sichuan stayed behind with her.
