Chapter Text
Rainbow sat there under her favourite tree on sweet apple acres but nothing about this was sweet. Her plucked feathers lay all around her. She should probably clean this up; she didn't want Applejack to worry.
"I need to get up," she repeated to herself so quietly it was barely a whisper. Despite her desperation her limbs felt so intensely heavy but it wasn't like she was tired. Although she hadn't slept properly in weeks this wasn't fatigue it was a different feeling. A feeling she felt a little to intensely and often nowadays. She curled tighter under the tree it made her feel a little better. Two or three deep breaths later she got up then walked away leaving her feathers behind.
Her wings were now sore the kind of punishment she deserved. The pain of the bare skin blistering as she lifted her wings to glide once again it was unbearable but for some reason it still felt so, so worth it. She bit her lip as her eyes watered up. Slowly she brang her mouth to her wing and pluck. Another feather gone.
Relief.
Pain.
Disgust.
Confusion.
Guilt. Just guilt.
These thoughts flooded her mind so she ran till her lungs hurt a distraction from the truth she never wanted to face. What was the truth? Did she even know anymore?
Five minutes later she found her self back on the farm she had bumped into Applejack. No no no not now, she thought to herself.
"Howdy partner," Applejack said excitedly but her eyes quickly squinted In something only describable as concern.
"Hi.. AJ. I wasn't expecting to see you around."
"Around my own farm? And what's with all the feathers?" Apple Jack pushed the pile of feathers towards Rainbow with her hoof.
"I.. I ran into a thorn bush then I sat under our tree to rest up a bit but the bush must've loosened up a couple feathers" rainbow dash was a good liar that was one thing she could rely on.
AJ looked her up and down
"Okay well you rest up you need it" Rainbow quickly opened her mouth but Applejack quickly spoke before her "Enough with the stubbornness I sometimes get worried about you"
Rainbow dash knodded then trotted away. How could she be so careless to leave all those feathers. 99 percent of her felt that way but that 1 percent wished someone would see past her strong facade. She did. She always did.
