Work Text:
You were fairly new to the crossroads, having moved there from BlackRock. You were familiar with the scientist, Subspace. Subspace t. Mine, as you were an ex-employee at Korblox.
Well, safe to say you were quite the fan of his, admiring every last thing about him. You never got the opportunity to work face to face, only occasionally in teams, so after you quit, you mostly pushed him aside out of your mind. Little did you know though, a man of his ego would never let one of HIS scientists leave, especially one as talented as what you were.
Your life in the crossroads was nice, it was much more different than blackrocks great mountains, but it's safe to say you were adjusting nicely. You had heard Subspace's name floating around a lot, mostly shit talk but, it's not like that matters right? Most people seemed to fear him, even at the lab. You never did, you always found him a one of a kind specimen that was just irresistible. Part of you thought, well, maybe he thought that too of you.
You never would’ve expected to run into Subspace in the backstreets of the crossroads, you never thought you’d see any of your ex-coworkers again. Subspace stared at you, even if you and him had barely had a singular coherent conversation before, the moment you two saw each other was like a reunion of a soldier to his family.
“Never thought I’d see you again.” He grinned, his voice muffled through his mask. Subspace was most certainly in worse condition than what he was when you last saw him, your heart ached at the fact. “Same to you.” You muttered.
The night air was cold, the wind gently blowing between you two. “You know, I never thought a phernal of my ego would learn to admire someone, but I've thought about you a lot lately.” He chuckled. “UHhhhh yeah! Same.. same.”
(fucking kill me)
“Would you ever consider coming back to Blackrock?” He asked, holding out his hand as if he was beckoning for your return. You shook your head, “I don't think I could.” He frowned, but clearly understood. “At least let me give you something then, huh?” He took off his mask, his rot almost glowing. It was a shocking sight at least, but you smiled. It wasn’t ugly, it was beautiful.
He stepped closer to you and gently held your face. Subspace kissed you, as if he knew what it was like to love somebody. You kissed him back, not expecting the action, but happy. It was a content love filled kiss.
Subspace moved back and grinned, as you then fell to the ground and fucking died because of the fumes. He laughed to himself. “That's what you get for betraying blackrock, sucker!!”
