Work Text:

Jia Xichun couldn’t stop herself from thinking about those two.

The way Don Quixote effortlessly cleaved through Bloodfiends on her way to the Ferris wheel of La ManchaLand. How Ryōshū was able to slice through any in her path on the way towards the center of the old H Corp.

Of course it was easy for her to want to catch up with Don. Don had brought up the idea in the first place. However it felt more bizarre to keep thinking about Ryōshū. Maybe it was the way her eyes glinted when blood was spilled. Maybe it was the silly abbreviations. Maybe it was the soft caring underneath the cold exterior.

Ironic, still, that she had heard the two had begun dating in the interim between La ManchaLand. She thought that meant that she would have to sever these thoughts and leave them behind her. But the two wouldn’t stop glancing at her from the corners of their eyes. A hunger shared between them that Jia Xichun couldn’t quite define.

It was almost enough to make her grab one of them and start asking questions and prodding until she got what she wanted.

It didn’t help that the two would often invite her to the most banal of things. Getting food, sharpening their weaponry, or even something as simple as watching the moon rise up from the dark. Surely it all meant something more between the three of them. Otherwise, Don wouldn’t have requested that little moment in the Kezhan.

She sighed, watching as Don quietly joined her side.

“Lady Xichun” Don said, eyes sparkling, “wouldst thou wish to join me and Lady Ryōshū for a late night walk?”

“Very well.” Xichun said, smiling.

Even despite it all, she found herself enjoying those brief moments with two strange friends.
