Work Text:
It was a very sunny fucking day. Or perhaps it was raining. You know sometimes it's hard to tell.
"Nemesis!! My darling, please don't run any FUCKING further!" Gallerian yelled as he watched her leave the porch of the mansion.
Nemesis was walking through the snow, happily jumping around and giggling and singing and crying. You know, sometimes it's hard to tell, and kids are weird, and I'm just an underpaid bat, what can I do.
Anyway, she soon realized that she wasn't safe in the snow she was jumping around in, so she decided to go hide on the garden shed. Then she realized she didn't quite know how to climb on the building, she wasn't much of a building climber, or a tree climber, or an anything climber, so she decided to enter the shed instead. There was a sign on the door that said:
"DO NOT ENTER, DO NOT EAT, DO NOT CRY ABOUT, DO NOT HIT, DO NOT KICK, DO NOT SLAP, DO NOT LAUGH ABOUT, DO NOT JUMP ON, DO NOT CLIMB, DO NOT LICK, DO NOT SCRATCH, DO NOT PUNCH, DO NOT BACKFLIP, DO NOT FLIPBACK ON, DO NOT THROW ANYTHING ON, DO NOT OPEN, DO NOT CLOSE, DO COMPLIMENT :), DO NOT FEEL SAFE AROUND, DO NOT LOCK, THE SHED. THANKS, XOXO. Signed, ben."
… Nemesis wondered what this sign meant. Good thing she didn't know how to read because she didn't go to school yet!
She entered the shed, opening the door that opened with a creaking sighing growling sound, she stepped inside and looked around. It was dark, obscure, somber, musky, unlit, lightless, pitch dark, black, moonless, and she had to blink to get her eyes used to the shadowlike interior. She felt much safer in there.
Ow, my wing hurts. Maybe I need to stretch for a bit. uhhhghhghghghghhhhghhghghghghghhghhhhhhhhh ow owow wow ow wo wowwowowowowow… ok. ok. done. I'm stretched. Ok, where were we again.
Ah the door closed, oops. I stretched too hard. Who knew a door could have plot relevance. Maybe I should talk about the door for a moment while Nemesis is crying for help, that must not be important.
The door always had hopes. It started a simple, young tree in the forest of Held. It had watched every tree around it, grow and grow as Held's children… Yet, this small young tree that soon to be becoming the door of the garden shed in the Marlon mansion didn't grow much. It thought it was alright at first, every tree grew at their own speed. No trees were identical anyhow. It just grew slower…. slower…
A few years passed, and the tree still hadn't grown. All its other pals trees had left the forest, taking their flight, and becoming beautiful things. The tree's best friend even had the honor to become a floorboard on the most enormous unsinkable boat in the whole world the S.S Titanis! Ah! What an badge of pride it must have been. Oh, the tree was happy for its friends, all of them. But yet… it couldn't erase the sense of … abandonment it felt when it realized that the years had gone by and that still, the tree wasn't tall enough to reach the skies and become the star it would've wished to be. So one day, it asked Held.
"Oh, mighty Held, tell me why haven't I been able to grow yet?"
"…"
"All my trees friends left your sanctuary, but here I am… stuck. Here. Tell me, all mighty Held, is this what you had planned for me? Left to wonder if I am meant to be small all my life? Why would a small tree exist? Oh mighty Held, you've created your children to grow, why cannot I fulfill my one purpose? Is it a part of your plans? Do you have some… greater, bigger agenda I cannot know about? Who am I to contradict the godly plans of yours… But please, please if you hear me, consider my wish and come back to me eventually… I miss you."
Unfortunately, Held didn't bring any answer. Because he was a tree and he couldn't talk.
Yet, one day, a shed maker called Ben arrived there- oh my I should probably tell you the story of Ben too, for explanatory purposes… well ok, let's go.
Ben was born in a family without a mother. Raised by his father, alone, Ben soon learnt that he had to climb the social ladder to earn his money. He had heard, through stories his father sometimes told him, that his mother had died soon after his birth, locked in a shed and dying alone there. Those stories made Ben's heart ache every time. He could've hated those sheds, and what they had done. But weirdly enough, I'm not paid enough, he hadn't followed his father hatred and instead decided to fight against it.
If sheds hurt people, like his mother had been hurt, then surely he could try to change it.
Oh, dreams, he had them! A very hopeful man, this Ben, just like our tree… Unfortunately, changing a system is never that easy.
His father had warned him. One who hangs with sheds, always end up like them. It was an old saying in their country… Ben thought he could make this change too. Ben had a lot of ambitions.
Sheds were terrible, ruthless. And soon enough… Ben would end up as corrupted as them.
…
Back to the day Ben went in the forest, and he cut the small tree, thinking it would suit better for an inoffensive shed. A shed that couldn't hurt anyone by how small it was.
…
Surely Ben didn't plan that our little Nemesis would be banging on the door and crying for help just a few years after this.
"Ow. Ow ow ow OW-" the shed door thought. Here were its big hopes and ambitions… being slapped by a six… or seven years old kid.
"MHHHHHH!!!" Nemesis yelled.
"Nemesis, sweetheart…" Gallerian went to open the door. "Didn't you see the door handle?"
"…"
"It is okay. As long as you are out now. Let's forget this happened, how about we leave for our apointment? Mira your mother, and your sister must be waiting for us."
"Mh."
Gallerian took his daughter's hand and led her to the car. Okay, let me hold onto the car too. Ok. Ok, I'm ready you can start the caaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

…
Gallerian, I hope you go to hell. Ow.
Anyway, they just arrived at a weird building. Can you believe town have buildings? Sometimes even I get baffled.
Mira and Michelle were waiting inside an office inside an corridor inside this building, in front of someone who looked like a therapist, as one could tell thanks to the sign "Family therapist" on their door.
"HELLO. I AM SIR THERAPIST THE THERAPIST." He greeted Nemesis and Gallerian as they stepped in.
"Oh my. Well this is a rather perticuliar name."
"I KNOW. I ALWAYS WANTED TO BECOME A FISHERMAN. BUT I AM WAY TOO ATTACHED TO FISHES."
"Oh. Well, that is interesting." Gallerian stated.
"INDEED." Therapist grinned.
"Mh." Nemesis hummed.
"End the corruption!" Gammon said- Oops sorry, got carried away…
Gallerian and Nemesis went to sit down with Michelle and Mira.
"Those fish shaped chairs sure are interesting…" The judge stated.
"THIS IS NOT A CHAIR, THIS IS MY PET."
"Ooops, my apologies."
"NO THIS IS STILL MY PET."
"Of course." he sat on the chair shaped chair instead.
"WELL NOW WE CAN START THE SESSION WHO WANTS TO TALK FIRST?" Gammon rose his hand. "YES YOU?"
"Gallerian, give back the sword!!!!! ow-" I threw Gammon out of this office, right onto Adam. This is not their story.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."
"Sir therapist, this cannot be that funny." Mira frowned, a bit confused.
"ANYWAY, WHO WANTS TO TALK? YOU!"
"Mh."
"TELL ME MORE."
"mHmhmh. hm. mh."
"REALLY?"
"…. mh."
"SURPRISING!"
"mhmhmh… mh. mh. mhmhm. mh."
"HAVE YOU TOLD THAT TO YOUR FATHER YET?"
"mhm."
"Sweetheart, you should've told me…" Gallerian frowned, his heart aching at the revelation. Or because it was a heart attack because he was old.
"…" Nemesis replied.
"Oh! I would've liked to hear that sooner."
"… Well hearing it is kind of the problem, can you speak up, Nemesis please?" Mira asked, trying to understand.
"Papa! Mama! Look a bird!" Michelle smiled, pointing at the window.
Both adults looked, no. It was only me.
"… No worries, sweetheart, this is just the bat your Papa keeps around because he feels misunderstood sometimes so he needs someone to explain his own actions." Mira patted her daughter's head.
"Oh! Is that true, Papa?" Gallerian nodded.
"AHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE FISHES."
"…" Nemesis tried to speak again but no one heard her.
"DID YOU KNOW WHALES WERE FISHES TOO??? MY MOTHER TOLD ME HER NAME WAS CATHE-"
I threw a stone at the therapist. Not even therapy can save this family.
Humans are really weird…
