Chapter Text
The main source of supernatural energy of The Tears of God universe. Chaos is a wild thing, that can never be truly completely understood. Chaos wielders have been called various names throughout all of history, from Sorcerers to Chaos Masters to Duelists. Chaos is found all around the world, and it can be passively collected by these wielders. The ability to use this energy is tied to knowledge and the soul (more on this on a later chapter). There is virtually no limit to the amount and the variety of things a person can do with chaos.
To use Chaos, as an analogy, is to use an electrical circuit. You have to define where it can flow, in which direction, and which components in the circuit it can power to do work. The different way one can make chaos flow are called techniques. There is almost no limit to the complexity of these techniques and these circuits, you only have to be able to perform them, and that can be rather difficult.
As every circuit does, a chaos circuit necessitates of a proper battery to work and start the flow. The easiest, and essentially the only way to get a battery is to use the Ba of a soul (more on those later).
Reinforcement: The most basic technique, it can be used to strengthen body parts, or even objects. If one becomes proficient, it might look like super strength and super speed.
Flare: Basic offensive technique. You expand the circuit so that chaos flows wildly out of you, harming opponents. It can be caused by excessive rage.
Pressure: Directed offensive technique. You slam your chaos onto other things or beings, causing damage.
Distortion: Slightly more advanced technique. Chaos is used to alter perception using a veil. A basic use of this is the regular static veil technique invented by Epitaph, that allows operatives to act without worrying about being filmed or remembered by people.
Chaos Blast: Advanced offensive technique: use chaos to perform a kinetic blast, being able to cause huge damage in localized areas.
Chaos Rift: Very advanced chaos technique. Can be used to link two points in space with a rift. It is unclear If this violates relativity.
Chaos Possession: Possibly the most advanced technique seen up until now. Using an object imbued with chaos as a beacon, one can take control of another body and mind.
Flight: Self-explanatory, rather advanced.
Barrier: Use chaos to deflect blows and create a physical rift in the air. Rather complex.
Chaos Caliburn: Similar principle to barriers and portals, chaos is used to bend space to create a blade with immense offensive power.
And there are plenty more.
