Chapter Text
[0:00] — Intro
Soft ambient hum. Dim lighting. Black backdrop. A table laid out with random objects: scissors, lighter, plastic case, perfume. Two binaural mics frame the shot.
Mitsuki sits down, looking slightly unsure and a little out of place.
“Hi. I’m Mitsuki.”
She glances off-camera.
“…am I supposed to whisper the whole time?”
A nod.
“Well, if I must.”
She leans closer to the right mic with a playful smile.
“Fun fact, a friend told me it can actually be bad for your voice. To be honest though, I don’t even know if it’s a fact, sometimes he’s full of—”
She cuts herself off with a guilty glance off to the side again.
“…am I allowed to swear?”
A quiet laugh as she turns her gaze back to the camera.
“Okay.”
Her voice drops softer.
“I was told this is supposed to be relaxing, so I’ll try not to be too loud.”
She switches to the left mic.
“I don’t really know much about ASMR, but apparently my fiancée is a fan. She loves watching those videos of soap being cut into like, a bunch of little cubes.”
A light chuckle.
“So she was really excited when I told her about what I was doing today.”
A beat. She leans back a little on the chair.
“I’m gonna try and do a good job, 'cause she’s definitely gonna watch this when it comes out.”
She playfully makes a nervous face.
“No pressure or anything.”
[1:00] — Bracelet Sounds
Mitsuki pushes up the sleeve of her sweater, holding up her wrist where a simple silver bracelet sits. She slides it off slowly.
“This was a Christmas gift from my fiancée.”
Soft taps against metal.
“Aya’s really thoughtful, so she’s amazing at giving gifts.”
Light scraping.
“I’m not into super flashy jewellery, so it probably doesn’t look like anything special to you guys… but it means a lot to me.”
She tilts the bracelet toward the camera.
“…it’s got coordinates engraved on it.”
Continues tapping, softer.
“Since I was little, I’ve always loved rock. Where I grew up, it was pretty rare to find people my age who had the same music taste as me. My uncle is also a massive fan of Western rock though, and he used to own a record store. So I did know some people who liked the same stuff, but they were mostly like… middle-aged geezers.”
A small smile.
“It was actually a pretty cool setup though. He let me work part-time there, so after school I’d pretty much rush to my shifts – but it was fine since we lived, like, right upstairs.”
Her smile widens.
“If you didn’t already know, Aya and I met in high school. It’s actually pretty funny. She walked in one random day while I was on shift, saw me and somehow thought I was a guy.”
She shakes her head slightly.
“Long story short—the guy she was totally crushing on was actually a girl who sits next to her in class.”
A quiet laugh.
“And the rest is history.”
She clears her throat lightly.
“Sorry, got sidetracked.”
She slides the bracelet back on.
“Anyway, I guess the record store is where we officially met, so she got the coordinates engraved into this. I think it’s really cute of her.”
[3:00] — Lighter Sounds
Mitsuki picks up the lighter, flicking the spark wheel with her thumb without lighting it.
“This actually isn’t mine. It’s Narita’s.”
click.
“He’s very into the whole ‘drunk cig outside the venue’ vibe. Aya stole this a while ago to try and get him to kick the habit. He still hasn’t noticed, so I think she might be succeeding—or he probably just got another one.”
click. click. click.
“I feel like at some point, everyone in their late teens or twenty-somethings has been tempted at least once. I was, 'cause I thought it looked cool.”
She rolls her eyes at herself.
“I was very young and very angsty about suddenly being very far away from my girlfriend. I was also very new to the LA party scene, and I guess I sort of got the urge to try and fit in. Which is dumb, I know that now.”
click. click.
“But it didn’t last long. I don’t even know what I was thinking—I suck at hiding things. Aya found out immediately.”
click.
“She shut that shit down real quick.”
A small laugh.
“She got so mad at me. You guys think I’m kidding, but she’s actually really scary when she’s mad.”
She smirks faintly.
“Plus, she said she’d never kiss me again if I didn’t stop. That would obviously suck, so it was a no-brainer.”
Another soft click as she looks directly at the camera.
“Anyway—smoking’s bad for you. Don’t do it.”
She sets the lighter down.
[4:30] — Perfume Sounds
Mitsuki picks up the bottle of perfume.
“Speaking of smell…”
She turns it slowly in her hand.
“…this is Aya’s perfume.”
She lifts the bottle to her nose and inhales softly near the cap.
“I love this scent.”
She taps gently on the glass.
“I can tell when she’s been in a room before I even see her.”
She laughs softly as she continues tapping.
“She’d never admit it, but for someone whose job is to advertise stuff, she’s lowkey a gatekeeper. She’s gonna be annoyed I showed you guys this.”
She takes off the cap carefully and sprays two times near both mics.
Inhales deeply. Exhales slowly.
“…I guess I didn’t need to spray it, 'cause I already know what it smells like.”
She smiles.
“Aya’s always close enough for that.”
A beat.
“I love it.”
[6:00] — Scissor Sounds
Mitsuki places the bottle back down with a gentle touch and picks up the scissors.
“These are from my kitchen.”
She snips at the air close to a mic.
“I brought them to the studio just for you guys. With special permission from security, of course.”
A faint, nostalgic smile touches her face.
“My uncle used to cut my hair when I was little. It was probably because he had no idea what he was doing, so it was easier to keep it short. The style really stuck, though. I’ve always preferred short hair.”
snip. snip. snip.
“I used to have bangs, and whenever it was time to trim them he would sit me down in the kitchen.”
Imitating her uncle’s gruff voice in an exaggerated solemn tone:
“‘Remember, Mitsuki, don’t take too much off at once. You can always cut more off, but you can’t put it back on.’.”
A light chuckle.
“Words of wisdom, honestly. It helped a lot for when I got old enough to do it myself.”
snip. snip. snip.
“I still cut my own hair now. I grew out my bangs a long time ago but I can still hear him in my head every time.”
She laughs quietly.
[7:20] — Nail Case Sounds
She sets the scissors back down neatly on the table and picks up the plastic case.
“Oh, sick.”
Mitsuki turns the case slightly between the mics, tapping on the clear surface.
“These are made by my friends.”
She opens it with a firm click.
“They run a business—I was gonna say small, but it’s actually not anymore.”
A proud smile.
“They’re very good at what they do.”
She sets down the case carefully. Her fingers hover over the press-on nails. She picks one up and turns it to the camera. It’s short, glossy black with silver holographic star-shaped sequins.
“They also already come with these little sticky tabs, which is nice. You just peel it off and slap it on.”
She speaks distractedly as she fits the nail onto her finger.
“They last for weeks… allegedly.”
She scratches her sweater aggressively, then hums.
“So far so good.”
She moves on to another finger.
“Sometimes Aya models the designs.”
She smiles slyly.
“…I feel like they sell out crazy fast when she does.”
It’s quiet except for soft plasticky noises and Mitsuki’s sweater rustling as she continues applying the rest of the set.
“I’ve never had long nails.”
She doesn’t look up, focused on her task.
“Never will. It’d probably be so hard to put contact lenses on.”
A pause.
“Or play guitar.”
Mitsuki presses on the last piece and closes the case with a soft click. She takes it in both hands and starts tapping it lightly, smiling.
“Not sponsored, by the way.”
[10:50] — Wig / Head Scratching
She puts the case down and glances awkwardly off-camera.
“Can I please get the head?”
A pair of arms appear in frame to place a wig stand on the table in front of her.
“Thank you.”
Still looking a little awkward, she adjusts the red wig on the stand slightly. Mitsuki clears her throat instinctively, then looks up with a guilty grimace.
“Oh, sorry. Was that too loud?”
A quiet, almost embarrassed exhale. Hands sink into hair.
“Aya always has long nails.”
Slow scratching begins. A smile pulls at her lips absentmindedly.
“Which is good, honestly. She’s literally the best at this.”
Soft brushing and scratching sounds fill the space. Slow. Gentle. Her shoulders drop unconsciously, tension easing without her noticing. Her eyelids lower slightly, like she’s somewhere else at the moment.
“She does this thing…”
Her nails scrape lightly along the fake scalp, mimicking a soft, rhythmic motion, trailing down.
“It always gives me chills.”
A quiet sigh. She repeats the motion, then her fingers shift, lighter now, barely grazing.
“But it makes me feel…”
A pause, like she’s searching for the word.
“…safe.”
Her hand flattens slightly, nails dragging gently along the scalp like she’s mapping it out.
“Like I don’t have to think about anything else.”
Another short pause.
“Just her.”
She doesn’t speak for a while, now moving her hands more purposefully, still gentle and slow.
“I don’t have to ask.”
A quick exhale.
“She just does it.”
Her voice softens further.
“…like she knows when I need it.”
Another slow motion through the synthetic hair.
“Sometimes I don’t even realise I’m tense until she starts.”
A faint breath.
“And then I just forget everything else.”
More soft scratching—less deliberate, more instinctive.
“Like my whole body just… shuts off.”
A small, almost embarrassed huff of a laugh.
“I fall asleep so quick every time.”
Another pass, slightly firmer. She adjusts pressure almost unconsciously, as if remembering exactly how Aya does it.
“She starts here…”
Her fingers run through the hair at the top first, then drift downward at the back.
“…then moves down…”
A light scratch at the scalp.
“…like this.”
Her palms flatten slightly, continuing the soft, steady scratches. Her eyes flicker down for a second, almost bashful.
“It’s the best feeling ever.”
Mitsuki slowly withdraws her hands with a small, shy laugh.
“Okay, I’m going to stop before I fall asleep.”
A quiet inhale, like she’s resetting herself.
“…I get it now.”
A small pause.
“This is kind of dangerous.”
Then she leans toward the right mic again, voice a little louder now.
“I didn’t think I’d like it this much.”
Her fingers tap lightly against the mic—soft, rhythmic. She glances off-camera briefly, then back. A faint smile lingers.
“I said earlier I don’t watch ASMR videos.”
A beat.
“I don’t have to.”
Mitsuki leans in a little closer, voice dropping again—low, almost conspiratorial.
“…I have it at home.”
She huffs out a soft laugh, then sits back slightly, looking between the objects like she’s trying to remember something.
“I think that’s everything?”
A voice off-camera says something quietly. Mitsuki tilts her head, listening.
“Oh. Right.”
Her eyes light up a little.
“Bad news, I gotta wrap it up here.”
She smirks slightly.
“But, good news—you guys get to meet the expert herself on the next one.”
Her fingers tap lightly against the table, careful and controlled.
“She talks nonstop, by the way.”
She smiles, small but fond.
“Like—about everything. Her day, her shoots, random things she saw online… You’re in for the best bedtime stories ever.”
A pause.
“Now I kinda feel lame, 'cause I don’t think this—”
She gestures vaguely at the setup.
“…can compete with that.”
[16:36] — Outro
She leans forward again, resting her arms lightly on the table.
“Alright guys, my name is Mitsuki, and this was my first time doing ASMR. I hope you enjoyed it.”
A small grin tugs at her mouth.
“Thanks for hanging out with me. See you next time.”
