Chapter Text
Dazai had gotten drunk again. Dazai was no stranger to the evil of alcohol. And it was up to albatross -and chuuya- to make sure the brunette survived till morning.
He was sobbing in albatross’ arms about odasaku’s death.
Odasaku had been like a father figure to dazai. One of the only forms of love dazai got for years.
It was always odd to see this talkative and bubbly kid cry.
It was especially odd, because if dazai wasn't talkative and bubbly, his eyes were as dark and scary as black smoke from a forest fire.
“It’s alright dazai. All will be ok. We’re here, yeah? We won’t die, nor leave.” Albatross reassured him.

Dazai seemed to be getting better. They always seem to get better before disaster.
Albatross learned that in middle school.
His friend had made him all sorts of drawings and stories of fictional characters. They would stay up late during sleep overs, talking about the future.
But that friend is gone. now, just a fading memory.
The next time dazai showed up to albatross’s door crying, albatross took him in his arms.
“What's wrong Dazai?..”
But I already knew. Chuuya had left.
………………………………………………………………………..
We came across Chuuya in a shop. He apologized to Dazai profusely. But the damage had been done. Dazai’s eyes were empty, little emotion was left.

Dazai had been Critically injured on a mission a week later. I was his emergency contact for the hospital.
It was 10;30 pm when I got the call. “Osamu Dazai is in critical condition, you were his emergency contact, we need you at the hospital for identification”
I grabbed my keys, not bothering with that stupid helmet. I started my bike, and sped to the hospital.
I bolted to the front desk, fuming, tears ricked my eyes.
“Where is he? Wheress dazai?!” He couldn't be dead..
The nurse led me to a room. There was a bloody cover on a stretcher.
“Mr Albatross. Should we cast the body?” It pained me to hear them speak of dazai like an object.
“Let me see him,” I demanded.
“Sir it’s not a pretty sight.” I glared at the doctor.
He gulped and uncovered dazai’s body. Half of his face was blown off. Blood stained his perfect suit, caked his messy hair, dripped from a cut right under his eye.
My heart dropped to my stomach. I felt empty knowing he was dead. Why the hell did I care? We barely knew each other aside from the relationship iceman and mori forced us into.
The funeral wasn't pleasant, most aren’t. But I can't wait for Mori's. He couldn’t even show up to his own son’s funeral. It was a rainy day. I didn't hold an umbrella, just let the rain soak my hair. I didn’t wear my sunglasses. They were tucked away in my jacket.
After the coffin was buried and everyone dispersed, I fell to my knees.
“You were right dazai! I guess we all will die someday, huh?” I clawed at the disturbed dirt, tears mixing with raindrops. I took my sunglasses out and set them on his gravestone.
The Demon Prodigy was dead. My friend was dead. My lover was dead.
