"I didn't realize you were so weak."
It had been days since that fight breakup incident at the bar, and Vincent still couldn't face it.
Weak? Him? Vincent fucking Whitman? He'd killed people. He'd lied. He'd done so much to get up to the top back in life, and now that stupid deer calls him weak?
I'll show him weak.
Vincent would definitely never try having a friendship again, that was for sure. Friends were overrated, anyway. Why had he even tried in the first place?
Because he wished so badly it could have been more than friends
Well, that didn't matter now. Who needed friends when you could have power? He'd show that old-timey prick who was really weak.
And his power wouldn't come from some stupid deal, either. Of course, Alastor had refused to ever name who exactly he had bargained with, or even that said bargaining had happened in the first place, but Vincent wasn't stupid. He had picked up enough from things said and even just the context of Al's situation.
What a goddamn hypocrite. Suggesting partnership was weak, but making a deal for all your power wasn't?
Vincent shook it off. That wasn't the point. The point was, it was time for an upgrade. Time to erase Vincent Whitman, who obviously would never get anywhere, and find a new identity.
He'd already been playing around with names for a while, trying to find something new. Preferably beginning with V still, because let's be honest, a V made for an excellent logo.
And there was one that really stuck out to him.
Vox.
It meant voice, which Vincent had found quite fitting. Hadn't he said he'd be the people's voice and all that to his followers back in the living world, after all?
Yes, Vox would be a fitting new identity. Perfect for an overlord.
Because that was what he would be. The strongest in Hell, if he could climb that far.
And he knew he could. Radio would be old news soon enough.
Time for a new era.
