Katsuki huffed and flopped down on the couch in the common area. His hearing aids had broken during a sparring match with Deku, so he hadn’t been able to hear hardly anything. The only other person in the class who knew sign language was the nerd, so he wasn’t able to properly communicate either.
Kirishima said something in greeting, but Katsuki couldn’t understand what he said. He turned to face him, frowning. Once he was looking at Kirishima’s face, he could somewhat read his lips.
“Dude, you good?” Kirishima asked. “You haven’t been talking to anyone all day.”
“Sorry, that’s probably my fault,” Deku appeared beside Kirishima, grinning sheepishly. “Sorry for breaking your hearing aids Kacchan.”
“Hearing aids?” Kirishima tilted his head.
“I’m hard of hearing, idiot,” Katsuki grumbled. “Quirk blew out my eardrums years ago.”
“Why didn’t you say anything? I would have learned sign or something,” Kirishima playfully punched him in the shoulder.
“Wasn’t an issue until somebody,” he glared at Deku. “Broke my hearing aids.”
“You’re the one that didn’t dodge my attack,” Izuku pouted. “Mei is working on a more durable pair, and you know how fast she works.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he rolled his eyes.
“I’m still stuck on the fact you’re hard of hearing and you never said anything!” Kirishima shook his head. “We could have been signing! No wonder you don’t join our conversations much.”
“I get it, I’m disabled!” Katsuki snapped.
“Be nice, Kacchan,” Izuku chastised. “You know, everybody would have to find out eventually.”
“And have them all constantly coddling me? No thanks,” he shook his head. “I’m perfectly fine handling things on my own.”
“Too late now, Bakubro,” Kirishima smiled. “Now I’m gonna tell our friends, and we’re all gonna learn sign, and you’re going to be able to catch every part of the conversation.”
“I hate you all,” Katsuki rolled over so he was facing the back of the couch, sighing loudly.
