Work Text:
Twas the night before April first and all throughout Night Raven College halls, the quiet sounds of laughter and snickering could be heard throughout all.
For tomorrow would be Aprils fool's and, well, this school was full of fools.
In the early morning, Housewarden Riddle Rosehearts had a small smirk on his face. He had planned a small little prank, something harmless and silly for the amusement of the Heartslabyul house. A completely new, and made up, Queen Of Hearts Rule.
Rule 811: When a student doesn't wear mauve on the first of April, they must do a silly little dance for the Queen.
As the Housewarden walked down his halls of his dormitory, his eyes locked onto his first two targets.
"DEUCE SPADE AND ACE TRAPPOLA" Riddle screamed, causing the two first years to stop dead in their tracks and lose all color in their faces. Deuce turned around immediately with a posture straight and stiff as a board. Ace turned around a little more nonchalantly but the fear in his eyes and the tension in his shoulders was definitely noticeable. Riddle suppressed a small laugh and tried to keep his stern expression on the boys.
"Where is the mauve in your outfit?!" The shorter boy glared at the two, "Heartslabyul rule 811: States that a student must wear mauve on the first of April, and if they don't they must do a dance for the Queen."
"Wha-"
"SINCE WHEN WAS THERE 811!?"
The Housewarden silenced the freshmans with a glare. "Since the Queen Of Hearts made the rules herself! Now if you don't wish for it to be off with your head, you will begin to dance! Well? Get on with it! 5 6 7 8!" Riddle then clapping in a rhythm.
The younger boys shot glances at each other and began to dance awkwardly in the middle of the hallway. Multiple people stopped to look at both of them making complete fools of themselves. Once Riddle stopped clapping, he immediately burst into a fit of giggles and laughter, causing Ace and Deuce to look at him.
"My, you two really are silly. April Fool's my wonderful dancing card soldiers!"
The boys faces immediately cycled through shock, embarrassment, then, they started laughing with their Housewarden.
Honestly, the dead give away would've been that Riddle himself wasn't wearing any mauve.
In the Octavinelle dormitory, The Leech brothers were up to mischief themselves.
Floyd, who usually went for a more relaxed and casual look, now had his uniform neat and proper. Just like his brother's. Jade, now donned a messy and untucked uniform, just like how his brother would wear. The two also switched which side the black stripe of their hair was on, as well as their earrings.
As the two walked into the Mostro Lounge, they found their Housewarden, Azul Ashengrotto, setting up advertisements for a joke product.
"Limited time only! Shark flavored mocktails!"
The twins looked at each other, that was an … interesting concept they suppose.
“Good morning Azul” Floyd said, pitching down his voice to mimic Jade’s.
“You two don’t need to pretend, I know you’ve switched places. I’ve known you for long enough to realize when you’re faking as each other” Azul said, not even looking away from the poster he was putting up.
The three all laughed together, they knew that the twins would have a better chance of fooling someone who wasn’t Azul.
Meanwhile in class 3-A, Leona Kingscholar sat laying his head down on his desk when his classmate, Rook approached him.
”Hey Leona.” Rook said, lacking his usual accent.
Leona’s head shot up, no, no, it was too early for this shit.
”WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!” Leona screeched, he scrambled back like a startled cat.
”Ah haha! Your reaction was simply beauté! Happy April Fools!”
Back in Heartslabyul, Trey Clover was passing out some cookies to celebrate the first of the month and the coming spring. Or that’s what he told everyone.
When the unsuspecting students took bites of the cookies, they were salty and bitter. Most likely because instead of using sugar like a sane and regular baker, Trey deliberately used salt in his cookies.
Although, when he went to give one to his fellow third year and boyfriend, Cater, his face lit up as he took a bite.
“Omg! Trey! #YUM! Like and subscribe for sure! Did you do anything different this time?” Cater exclaimed.
”They’re made with salt, honey.”
”Oh.”
After a while Floyd got bored of pretending to be Jade and put his uniform back to normal and headed to the library.
When his eyes locked onto his favorite head of red hair, his face to a mischievous smile.
“Heya Riddle~” Floyd said and watched as the shorter boys jaw dropped.
”What in the name of the great sevens? Has the underworld frozen over?! What did you just call me?!”
Floyd watched with amusement as Riddle turned bright red and confused.
”I called ya Riddle. Ya know, your name?” Floyd teased him just a little bit and before Riddle could even speak, he cut him off “Anyways, Riddle~ I was wondering if ya wanted to go out with me?”
Riddle’s heart skipped a beat, then he remembered what day it was. And who Floyd was. And all hope he had drained from his body.
“I don’t think I would. And if you keep this rubbish behavior up, it’ll be off with your head!” Riddle took his books and left the library, leaving a sad Floyd sitting alone.
Little did Riddle know, Floyd meant his words and Jade would soon find a heart broken eel sulking in his bed later that day.
