Today was April First, as most know it to be; April Fools. But to Doppo Kunikida, today was his boyfriend Nikolai Gogols birthday. At 5:15 a.m. Kunikida rose free, prying himself from his boyfriends arms and making his side of the bed. If not for how out of it Nikolai was (and how much of a heavy sleeper he was) Nikolai surely would have awoken.
Doppo let ot a sigh as he did his morning routine, doing his selfcare tasks and then going to the kitchen to make some eggs, toast and bacon for his dearests breakfeast in bed.
As Kunikida cracked the eggs into the pan, he couldnt helbut reber hei coversaion they had a couple of days ago. Nikolaiwas no fool, and obviously knew his own birthdayy was coming up; but when asked about it, Nikolai seemed to tense up quite a bit before responding with "What is the point in celebrating the day i was forced into a cage?" Which being completely honest had suprised Kunikida a bit. If anything Nikolai seemed to be the type to constantily remind folks about it being close to his birthday and happy it was coming up, not so… resentful towards it.
At aroung 6:39 a.m. Kunikida re-entered their share room wiith the the of food; and Nikolai being in a much lighter state of slumber from his sleep rose from his slumber as the door opened.
"mmhhh… Doppo whats that…?" Nikolai asked his voice still heavy from sleep as he sat up on their bed.
"Breakfast Gogol, Its your bithday." Kunkida states in a matter of fact tone, plaing the tray right next to Nikolai.
Nikolai stared at his partner for a moment before speaking, his voice more quieter now "you really should'nt have"
"I know how you see your own birthday Gogol." Kunikida sakd before pausnnnnnnnd then continuing to speak. " But today is not the day you were forced in a cage, thats not were celebrating, we are celebrating you being born ; you being here with me." kunikida finished, moving his hand into nikolais
Gogol looked a him, wide eyed. As if he truely had dropepd the clown facade. God Kunikida knew just the right things to day; but unlike fyodor, Kunikida meant it. And that was everything to him.
"Gosh I love you you idealist." Gogol said his eyes filled with love that made Kunikida soften slightly every time he saw them.
"I love you too Gogol, now eat your food before it gets cooled, everything in my notebook s blank for today, were doing whatever you want to do."
