Chapter 1: Fireworks Are Too Loud (Edward/OC)

Chapter Text

Two mixed traffic engines chugged down the rail to the docks. It was a special day of course, well not for the engines but for the dowager’s birthday.

“The sunset sure is pretty isn’t it Wilson?”

Edward spoke up from behind the heavy truck. In front chuffed and puff a cocoa brown engine with a faint smile. He enjoyed Edward’s company after coming to Sodor. It was nice to share a similar history to such a wise engine.

“You’re not wrong, Ed.”

Wilson replied at the front. The two engines chuffed happily down the track, watching the sky.

**BOOM**

There was a loud bang that shook Wilson. It came from the sky, but from what?

“W-what was that?”

Wilson asked shakily. Edward raised a brow at the shaky voice. He looked up and saw subtle colorful sparkles in the dark orange sky.

“It’s nothing to worry about. Just fir-“

Another bang in the sky. Wilson felt his pistons move faster, urging him to go further from wherever that bang is coming from.

More bangs were heard in the sky, and by now Wilson’s steel frame was trembling, and his wheels have never moved faster before.

“Slow down Wilson! It’s not what you-“

More fireworks interrupt Edward. Wilson’s breathing was rapid, he felt scared—afraid that his memories have came back to haunt him. His driver patted the side of the cab door, also trying to tell him to slow down. But he couldn’t! He felt blinded by the bangs!

There was a bend coming up, and at this rate, they’ll definitely derail!

“Wilson! You need to slow down otherwise we’ll derail!”

Edward shouted, trying to snap the brown engine back to reality. Yet, the engine didn’t slow down, too caught up with the loud noises. They were reaching the bend awfully quick, and Edward had no choice but to break.

His wheels screeched against the rails, sparking metal everywhere.

“Wilson! Please! Look ahead and break!”

Edward begged. Wilson’s gaze finally focused, and spotted the bend. He quickly put his breaks on, trying to slow down.

But by then, the brown engine was far too late. They reach the bend, their bodies and truck tilting to the side. Gravity pulled Wilson down, along bring Edward and the truck with him!

The conductors jumped out as Wilson’s face hit against the rough gravel and grass, being dragged against it. Wilson grit his teeth as he felt the burning pain against his cheek. The engines eventually came to a stop, covered in dirt and scratches.

Wilson opened his right eye, breathing heavily. He cannot believe what just happened! He only now realized a minute ago they were fireworks! Now he’s derailed and brought Edward down with him.

“Ohh…I’m so sorry Edward…”

Wilson groaned out. Edward spat out whatever was in his mouth, looking at the fallen engine ahead of him.

“It’s fine Wilson. You can’t control what happened in your past after all.”

Edward said softly. Wilson blushed a little, almost feeling the nice smile Edward held on his face.

Well, now they had to wait for some sort of rescue. At least they have each other to keep company.
