Chapter 1: Ma belle Silver

Chapter Text

Idia never thought he would get married… I mean, just look at him. He always thought he would spend his entire life within the confines of his room, or perhaps within those of his office once he accepted his position. Not even his family legacy gave him any opportunity to have someone to love.

He was the heir of Styx; no one would ever want to give up their freedom and image to love a loser like him, someone as foolish as Idia.

So he didn’t know what to do when Ortho forced him to go out with Silver. He said it was just a special event for a limited time.

Very limited; February 14th.

— Ortho is tired of seeing him so in love and doing nothing about it

The Monster Lounge was offering a couples discount

Ortho asked Silver’s father for permission on his brother’s behalf

In reality, Lilia thought it was just a gaming afternoon

Silver looked shy and accepted! That’s a good sign according to Ortho!—

So Idia had no choice but to accept, even with sweaty hands, his hair completely pink, and his only topic of conversation being video games and bands from the other side of the island, trying not to get completely nervous and stutter, surprisingly Silver understood and smiled at him multiple times.

That made him ignore the fact that sitting across from him at the table was the most handsome boy on the Isle of the Sage.

They had already known each other long before, on the day of Silver’s welcome to Night Raven College, then again when he found him sleeping among the trees, how ethereal and beautiful he looked, he felt for a second that his heart would stop, and even if that had happened Idia would have left more than happy for having been able to witness that sight.

The hair over his face framing the shape of his jaw

His long eyelashes and those dreamy lips until the boy woke up and threatened him with his wand BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT! NOT ENTIRELY!

—Ugh… —The conversation had died for a few seconds while they ate, he began to lower his gaze so he wouldn’t keep staring at Silver, his hair began to feel too well styled and the formal clothes he was wearing started to feel too tight on his body

— S-sorry that Ortho forced you to… —His voice faded as he lowered his gaze to his own food, feeling the nausea creeping in, he had ordered the simplest and softest thing he found on the menu to avoid looking ridiculous complaining about his gums in front of the cute boy, he was trying to look as cool and alpha, sigma and all those new terms Ortho told him as he left, but it was becoming impossible, pfft, who was he kidding.

Silver —Who was just as dressed up, he even had small braids in his hair almost the same as Idia’s! Of course, Idia’s was longer and with more color and besides it wasn’t intentional but Idia wanted to think it was, for his own sanity, for his own hope for something — Surely he was counting the minutes, seconds, microseconds! to leave and never see the loser on the other side of the table again.

The place began to feel smaller as time passed, Idia kept his hands on his knees clenched into fists, gripping the fabric of his pants, his hair began to lose its pink to turn into a brighter blue.

The silver-haired one cleared his throat, making the older one almost jump from his chair, which without a doubt drew even more attention. He should dig a tunnel right now and go back to his room and never come out again and—

He lifted his gaze so quickly that he heard a small crack, all just to see the image of a worried face, dawn-colored eyes fixed on him, the other boy’s hand hesitating whether to approach so Idia could take it or not…

—Ortho didn’t force me, actually he only suggested it— Ok, that was direct, but Silver was always direct, right? He never went around things… right? Idia felt like his eyes were deceiving him when he saw the reddish tint on the boy’s cheeks, without thinking further in an “accidental” movement now his hand rests on Silver’s.

—Ick! S-SORRY! I-I DIDN’T MEA— he doesn’t have the chance to pull it away since their fingers are already intertwined and now Silver seems too focused on finishing his plate rather than continuing to talk, which makes him understand that it’s better to stay like this, without saying anything else, just holding hands, with faces as red as tomatoes.

—I was the one who organized this… well, I asked Azul and the Leech twins for some advice, that’s why they gave us a slightly more private table—

He was a total prince! He was worrying about Idia’s human trash, even looking at him with that typical side smile of his, the corners of the older one’s lips began to rise until at one point it was just the two of them smiling foolishly at each other.

Idia talking about his games, about his interests and above all letting himself go.

Silver kept listening to him with a small smile, from time to time giving his opinions and comments.

But above all, their hands remained together, they hadn’t let go all night, not even when they stood up and left the Monster Lounge.

They only did when they arrived at Idia’s room, where he finally noticed the state they were in, the suspicions it could create.

He got so nervous that he let go of the silver-haired boy’s hand and shut the door in his face.

Silver must hate him now!
Silver must despise him!

That’s what he thought for 10 minutes before his phone screen lit up with a message:

“Thank you for accompanying me this evening.”

He threw it without caring if it broke and wrapped himself in the sheets, kicking against them like a lovestruck schoolgirl (which in reality is what it was).

Then came the next level, even more dates, getting to know each other and the exploration of new endings.

To Idia’s surprise, the only thing that could go wrong in his new relationship was his father-in-law. Lilia at first didn’t like the news at all, he rejected the relationship at some point, until he saw the happy face of his son when he saw how Idia had gathered the courage to ask for permission to marry after graduating, only then did he get a yes as an answer.

The wedding was one of the most beautiful things. It was something Idia never believed he deserved.

Clearly, there were no crowds, there were not many guests, mostly because of the personalities of both grooms, it was only the people who truly mattered to both.

It was held in the forest of Briar Valley, Silver truly felt excited to do it in the place where he grew up, and Idia, who was he to deny something to his prince?

Between two tall trees stood a wooden arch covered in white flowers and vines. From above, delicate cascades of petals fell, as if nature itself was blessing the union. At the bases, some thorns intertwined subtly, an impossible detail to ignore… clearly the work of someone who carefully took care of every aspect of the place.

The air that day felt almost unreal, once again completely impossible.

Ortho floated happily over the path fulfilling his main mission as the “flower boy”, scattering the petals carefully even with his great enthusiasm filling his circuits.

Then Idia saw him.

Silver.

His — in a few moments — husband.

The white suit, with delicate silver details, fell with an almost ethereal elegance. The floral embroideries decorated the upper part while the fabric flowed lightly with each step. The lower part was pants of the same color, only that in this case the fabric fell like a light tunic with lace, swaying with each step he took.

It was all a dream Idia never wanted to wake up from.

His silver hair moved softly, framing his face naturally, small waves fell over his shoulders decorated with a flower crown and a light veil that captured the light between the trees.

Idia’s eyes began to blur and his lower lip trembled slightly.

He was so beautiful that he could never find enough words to describe him.

He didn’t realize he had started crying until he tried to breathe, until the tears began to treacherously run down his cheeks.

Silver was there, walking toward him, toward a life together, choosing him. HIM!!! AND ONLY HIM!!!

Despite the complications.
Despite his family.
Despite the fact that he was Idia Shroud.

Despite feeling for so long that he had no right to be loved, there he was, being chosen, being seen, being accepted. A choked laugh between tears was the first thing that came out once he had the silver-haired one in front of him, he covered his face with one hand embarrassed in an attempt to compose himself.

How ridiculous he was.

He was completely pathetic.

— You look beautiful… —

Weren’t those the words he should be saying to Silver? Instead Silver took his trembling hands and there he understood, that for the first time in his life he didn’t want to run, for the first time he wanted to be brave, he didn’t want to hide, he wanted to stay there.

With Silver.

With his husband.

And no matter how many route endings existed in the world, without a doubt his would always be the best, and the only one he would choose forever, to have the light of his brilliant beloved, his beautiful Silver.
