Two Romeos, One Fate

Summary:

Thomas wasn’t supposed to find out Minho is going through the Changing. When he found out, he did the only thing he was good at, he ran. He ran to the Glade’s lake and wished to be alone. And couldn’t even get that.

Work Text:

The only thing Thomas wanted was to be alone and he couldn't even get that. The watery reflection mirrored his sigh. It mirrored Thomas' etched eye-bags, his dulled lips, and slouched figure. His tired hands caressed his rosy cheeks. He didn't respond to the slightest crunch of leaves growing closer. He didn't even look from the water when Minho loudly groaned and slumped beside him.

"You look uglier than usual. Talk to me." Minho mused. Thomas snapped away from his reflection. His clenched fist and dagger-glare softened upon looking at his fellow runner. Black cracks littered his, annoyingly, pleasant face. Minho's deep dark eyes skulled and contrasted the smug smirk on his rosy lips.

Thomas was astonished by how tragically gorgeous Minho looked despite it all.

"Am I that breathtaking, Juliet?" Minho chuckled, his eyes creased by his widely stretched sheepish giggle. "Juliet? Oh, as in Romeo and Juliet." Thomas numbly recalled.

Minho dramatically swooned. "Yes, Edison, the star-crossed, fatefully doomed lovers!" He swung left to right until helplessly 'falling' into Thomas' lap with dainty hand across his poor forehead. "'Oh Romeo, Romeo, where are thou?' Ring a bell, shank?" The greenie flushed a heavy red looking down at the comfortably cushioned teen.

A blush creeped on Minho's cheek. He stumbled to push himself up but abruptly stopped for a gentle hand, that was threading his thick black hair. Minho scoffed. Whether it was because of Thomas' impulsive antics or his own racing heart, was any shank's guess.

"You'll kill me when I succumbed to the Changing, right?" Minho wearily muttered.
"No." Thomas spat firmly. "I will find a cure for you."
Minho lifted himself instantly and ready to gush on how stupid, it was. How dangerous, it would be. Minho was about to rambled before he saw the look in Thomas' eyes. It was serious; set in stone. He let out at airy laugh at it all.
"You're crazy, man." He smirked.

It was insane, crazy, and buggin' impossible.
For Thomas? This was a goal was worth trying and dying over.

Minho, was worth trying and dying for.

The Leader of the Runners sighed knowingly he'd be by his side, it was addictive afterall. A need to stand against the odds, with this shank. Even if he is a helpless.

They'll be helplessly insane, together.
