Chapter Text
Today was relatively boring, all things considered. One of the men working under me decided to go directly against orders, and it resulted in a few minor casualties. Many injuries, and a heavy reimbursement from the fatui to one of our equipment providers.
The anger I feel is absolutely incomprehensible. But above all, shame precedes other sentiments of mine.
I feel mildly ashamed of this incident, even if it wasn’t under my orders that such a thing occurred. Thus, exempting me of fault.
But it still insults my pride in the same manner, as it was one of my own men. Don’t they know that their actions reflect on me? Hmph.
Either way, after a very heavy and heated tongue lashing, I think he got the memo. Either that, or the fact that I threatened him that if he ever dared to screw up again, I would have each individual finger of his cut off and force-fed to him.
I’m not so heartless. I would not do such a thing even if I do have the power to. But the message was clearly heard.
I like to think that he might have even soiled his pants in fear. Nothing more scary than incurring wrath directly from one of the fatui harbingers themselves.
Otherwise, there is one other mildly interesting thing that occurred recently.
A new fatui harbinger has been inducted, going by the name “The Damselette”.
She was immediately ranked number three of the fatui.
Usually I wouldn’t find a major issue in such a thing, even if my own rank was pushed from six to seven. However, whatever caused such an immediate high ranking—
It was not from being cunning, sharp-witted, or craftiness! Whatever strength she has, it is clearly from some hidden inner strength that isn’t visible in her exterior.
It frustrates me, really. She may as well have zero thoughts in that big round head of hers.
I would be incredibly surprised if there was any given moment that her mind wasn’t up in the clouds.
I tried giving a formal greeting and welcoming to the fatui, and she remained silent. It wasn’t until I raised my hand to wave in front of her face that she reacted. What did she say in response? ”Huh?”
Huh? HUH?! Is that all she had to say???
Seriously, she’s as dim-witted as they get! Even the men who were assigned to work for her have little idea as to what to do! I even overheard some of them cheering for being assigned to such a passive harbinger.
Clearly, they thought that meant that they would have it easy for the duration of their employment under her.
That was until I stepped over and gave them a heavy tongue lashing about lazing around and taking advantage of their free time.
I gave them a heavy work load for the rest of the day as a result. I don’t think the Damselette would care, or heck, even notice if some of her men were already working on tedious assignments assigned from another harbinger.
She seemingly just floats around all day, doing whatever she pleases.
I have little idea of what to make of her yet. Perhaps one of these days she’ll show that her brain isn’t just air, and there is substance to her rank.

(A note is under the drawing in slightly messier writing; Seriously, is it all just air?? Does she even think?? What could she have been doing beforehand that she has essentially zero skills in anything related to social etiquette??)
