Chapter Text
The office was calm as the precise sound of keys click-clacking that Reigen was behind filled the room, seemingly being very consumed by the computer. In the corner, Mob peacefully sat in his desk, trying his best to understand his homework but still needing the occasional help from his master. Mob was stuck on this one question. Usually, he’d just ask Reigen for assistance and it’d be all fine and dandy but, Mob noticed saw how focused his master was so he didn’t want to be a bother. Meaning, he just stared at the question in confusion, trying different ways and steps but none of them seemed to be doing the trick. Mob stared at Reigen, wondering if he should ask for help.
“Mob,” Mob jumped a bit out of his seat, “you know it’s rude to stare.” Reigen’s gaze soon directed to the boy’s who agreed then apologized for longingly staring at him, hoping he’d realize that he needed help.
“Oh, Mob, c’mere!” Reigen’s mood did a complete 180 as Mob slowly left his homework and sat down in the chair across from Reigen’s desk, “We both know how busy has been slower recently, right?” Reigen asked him to confirm, in which Mob just nodded his head as he replied, “Yes.” “So, I just got this awesome idea, okay?” Reigen excitedly beams as he abruptly stands up from his chair, trying to dramatize the moment, “I’m going to make a TikTok account to promote our services!” His eyes twinkled as he told Mob the news. Mixed with confusion and nerves, Mob looked at him with an unusual expression.
“Um, Master, what is a TikTok?” As those words left Mob’s mouth, Reigen’s eyes widened at the discovery that Mob doesn’t know the famous social media platform.
“Mob, I’d expect you to know that more than me especially with your age but,” Reigen sighed, realizing he’d have to explain his apprentice what TikTok is, “here we are.” Reigen then began to start digging in his pocket before pulling out a small, rectangular phone, “I just got a new phone, what do you think?” Reigen held out his phone in one hand as his other flashily presented it, Mob realized that Reigen went completely off topic… Or did he? “On this phone, you can do more than just the average flip phone, an app that is available on this phone is called TikTok.” Mob listened as Reigen carefully answered Mob’s question. “And on this app, you can post videos! See?” Suddenly, Reigen shoved the glowing phone in Mob’s face, hurting his eyes a bit as he practically got flash-banged. After his vision returned, he started to watch the videos Reigen was showing him, every five seconds, Reigen would scroll onto a new video, intoxicating Mob’s brain with random slop.
As Mob was still trying to process everything, Reigen began typing on his phone before flipping it back towards Mob. It was a picture of the building with the user, ‘0fficalSpiritsnSuch’.
“This is the account I made for us! Let me show you what I thought we should do first, just gimme a second ‘ere…” Reigen slowly typed on the phone, trying to get used to the more bigger and boxer feel on it as he then flipped the phone back to Mob a third or second time before showing a video of a girl doing a random dance. “We should try this!” He happily smiled, “It’d take practice though…” Mob nerves sky-rocketed, he didn’t want to dance in front of a camera! Especially a dance he’s never done. Mob began to sweat a bit before trying to make an effort to go against the idea,
“Master… I don’t feel comfortable doing that.” Reigen’s smile slowly dissipated as he looked at Mob nervously begin to fidget a bit.
“Don’t worry, Mob.” He smiled softly, aware that he shouldn’t force his student to do anything, “You can just record me doing it!” Reigen jovially beamed, he pushed the phone towards Mob before he slowly started to exit his desk attempting to dancing the dance as Mob just observed him. Mob looked down at the phone then to Reigen. Reigen seemed very cheerful and Mob didn’t want to destroy it so he sighed quietly as he stood up from his chair and began walking to the spot they’d record.
“Is this a good angle, Mob?” Reigen asked, getting ready for his first attempt, “Mhm.” Mob replies as he awkwardly holds the phone. “Just press that little red circle on the bottom to start to record!”Mob nods, “Okay, Mob! Do a countdown.” Riegen proudly asked as Mob nods his head again, just trying to go with the flow.
“Okay… Are you ready, Master?”
“Of course!”
“Three, two, one.”
Mob pressed the dot and the recording began, Reigen broke out into performance, dancing his heart out but, to Mob, he just looked like a fish out of water. Mob looked back at the video’s dance and the two were completely separate things. Finally, Reigen finished as he extravagantly posed at the end. Mob stopped the recording as a wave of dread came over him, he rewatched the supposed dance video and increasingly became worried.
“So, Mob, whatcha think?” Reigen happily skipped towards Mob who was still standing at the phone. You see, the reason why Mob was so concerned was not because if you didn’t know he was dancing, you would’ve thought he was having a medical emergency, but what the feedback would be from viewers watching it. The last thing Mob wanted was confidence’s to decline so he forcibly tugged the sides of his lips to form a semi-smile.
“It was good.”
“Really? Wow, for my first time too… Alright, Mob, hit post!”
Mob dragged his finger to the post button, his finger reluctantly hovered over it, scared over what the feedback might be.
“Mob, just post it!” Reigen snuck up behind him and snatched his phone out of Mob’s slippery hands, “Don’t worry, I know you did a great job recording it,” He reassured Mob as his attention shifted back towards the phone, “here.”
“Wait!”
Reigen pressed post as the words escaped his student’s mouth.
“What?” Reigen diverted his gaze as the colour drained from Mob’s face as he made an awkward expression. “Jeez, Mob, don’t worry so much!” Reigen blindly trotted past the frozen boy as Mob worried for the worse. Reigen sat back down at his desk, cracked his fingers and resumed typing away.
Still trying thinking about Reigen’s terrible decision, he slowly started to walk back to his desk. He plopped down and just sat there processing all the new, unnecessary information that was taking up space for more important things.
