Robert, Ross, and Roy. Three best friends. Three boys who all three have a crush on each other. Yet oddly enough, they keep their crushes hidden from each other.
That would change today, Robert decided. He invited Ross and Roy over to his house for a sleepover while his mom, dad, and sister went to visit their grandparents. His brother, Radford, was staying the night at his boyfriends house. It was only 9 AM and they would be here until the end of the next day. Rob was sitting on the living room couch, playing on his phone, when he got a text from Ross. It read simply "here" Robert sat still, blinking at the message and admiring how simple and unenthusiastically his best friend (and crush) typed.
Robert had realized he took too long when Roy was banging on the door, yelling insults. "Okay, okay! Coming!" Robert shouted from the couch as he walked over and opened the front door. "Hey dude" Ross greeted as Roy slipped between them and made himself comfortable on the couch as if he owned the place. "Hey guys! So, what did you wanna do first?" Robert asked as him and Ross walked over and plopped down next to Roy who was on his phone. "Hmmm" Ross put his index finger on his chin deep in thought. "We could watch that new horror movie, Halloween Week I think it was called..?" "Sure!" Replied Robert
"Oh! can we get popcorn too?" Roy added, looking up from his phone. "Also, can we watch in your room? More.. comfyyy y'know?" Ross asked Robert, seductively? Flirtily? No that couldn't be right. Robert was probably hallucinating or something. It didn't make any sense for Ross to flirt with him, especially about something as simple as a question about a movie night. (Little did Robert know, that was Ross' very horrible attempt at flirting. Could you tell he didn't know what he was doing?) "Uhh sure guys! Go make yourself comfortable, I'll get the p-popcorn..!" Robert needed a second alone, he was too flustered and embarrassed to be around both of his crushes right now.
Meanwhile, Roy and Ross took a seat in Roberts bed. His room was messy, but had a familiar smell. Both Roy and Ross took note of that as Ross grabbed the TV remote. They turned it on, searching for the movie. "Hey Roy" Ross spoke, breaking the silence. Neither looking up from the TV. "Hm?" "Are you okay? You're being way more quiet and... nicer than usual. Did something happen?" Ross now turned completely to face Roy. Roy was now completely panicked. He now had to debate whether or not to tell his best friend (and crush) what has been happening with his uncle, or to lie to him.
Instead of responding, Roy just burst into a choked out sob, still looking at Ross. "Woah! Hey, hey man, what happened? Talk to me please" "Um," Roy finally spoke. Getting interrupted, however, by Robert busting through the door. "I'M BAC- woah woah wait what happened?" Robert placed the singular popcorn bowl down, kneeling on the ground in front of Roy who was now in a ball. His knees to his face. "I-i don't even know how to explain.." Roy spoke as Ross and Robert silently listened. And so, Roy explained.
Roy took just under half an hour explaining in agonizing detail what his uncle has been doing to him since he was little. He explained to them that his uncle had only one month ago been sent to prison for doing the same to other children. He had explained how he felt guilty for everything that has happened to other kids. He explained the things he would do to him every time they were alone. He explained that he was too scared to ever bring this up in fear of Ross and Robert being disgusted. He explained that the reason he was so mean and aggressive was so he didn't appear as weak, hoping it would put an end to the abuse he endured for so long. He explained that he didn't want to burden his friends with his problems.
As Roy was talking about it, Ross and Robert had to hold back bursting into tears. They all three looked at each other "Roy," Robert said softly after a few moments of silence. "I'm so sorry that happened to you." "And I am so sorry we didn't notice sooner" Ross added. "N-no it's not your fault guys, there's no way any of you could have known" Roy said. Robert and Ross make eye contact, before going to hug Roy. "I am glad you aren't in that situation anymore, even if it's only recently." Robert said, sobbing. This only made both Ross and Roy cry harder. Roy now realized just how much his best friends cared about him.
A few minutes if this happened before Ross wiped his tears with his sleeve. "Fuck it feels so weird crying in front of you two." Said Ross. This made Roy and Robert giggle. "Yeah well how do you think I feel? Neither of you have cried in front of me until right now!" Robert said, half laughing-half crying. "Thank you guys, so much" Roy spoke suddenly. The two other boys looked at him in confusion. "For listening to me and caring about me, I mean"
"You don't have to thank us for that man" Robert said looking up at Roy. Roy nodded before Ross asked if they both still wanted to watch the movie. They both agreed, the three of them climbing to lay in Roberts bed. Rob grabbed the remote and huddled himself next to Roy, Ross on the other side of him. All three of them taking note on how romantic the position they were in was. Roy must have worn himself out with the crying, because 40 minutes into the movie and he fell asleep. It was only about 11 am after all. When the movie was done. The two boys who were awake admired Roy. Only now finally processing what Roy had been keeping secret for so long.
"Hey, Ross?" Robert whispered. "Hm?" Ross hummed, looking up from Roy. "I um- whenever Roy wakes up, and when both of you are ready, I want to talk to you. Both of you." Robert muttered nervously. He couldn't believe that today was actually the day he would do this, he was so scared. Ross smiled at Robert. "Of course dude" he whispered, the both of them going back to looking at Roy as the movie played in the background. As Roy was sleeping, he subconsciously pulled Rob and Ross closer to him, grabbing them both by the waist and wrapping his arms around him. Robert blushes and gets flustered while Ross smiles softly at the gesture.
Later, Roy slowly wakes up "mmmnnnnnn where am I...?" Roy mumbles sleepily. "Hey dude, how you holding up?" Robert asks his friend quietly. "Um, I'm okay I think" Roy says, rubbing his eyes and sitting up before realizing that he was cuddling his two friends in his sleep. This fact make him blush and hide his face in shame. "Uh sorry about... that, all of this" He adds. "No Roy you have nothing to apologize for" Ross speaks up "Yeah man you didn't do anything, okay?" Rob adds softly. Roy nods. "Oh by the way, Rob said he wanted to talk to us about something. Are you okay with that?" Roy nods again, both boys turning to Robert, the boys now sitting in a triangle. "Oh! Now? Are you sure? It's a lot, especially after...that."
After confirmation from both boys, Robert begins his confession he's been thinking about for months now. He is sweaty and nervous and red and embarrassed, but he confesses nonetheless. His two crushes watching and listening with their undivided attention.
"So, since we all became friends there has always been somehing different about the two of you. I mean, you both know I like boys, that's no secret" Robert giggled deep in thought, too scared to look up from his hands he was fidgeting with. "Basically, a few months ago I realized that I saw the both of you as more than friends. I like both oft you. I want to date both of you, like- I want all three of us to be together"
There were a few moments of silence. Robert looked like he was about to cry. He shut his eyes tight, expecting to get rejected. Instead, however, he was met with two sets of arms wrapping around him. "I like you too Rob. Both of you." Said Ross. "U-um me too." Roy muttered embarrassed. Robert let out a sigh of relief that he didn't ruin everything with his two best friends.
"WAIT! Does that mean we're all like boyfriends now?" Robert asked excitedly "If you all want to be, then yeah" Ross responded, smiling while looking at Rob and Roy. "I do. I really, really do." Roy answered, still shy and embarrassed, now covering his face. Robert nodded, smiling at Roy's reaction. "Okay! Then we're boyfriends..!" Robert said in disbelief.
The boys all take a moment to just sit in comfortable silence. All admiring each other, before Roy spoke up. "Should we- um- nevermind.." "No tell us Roy!" Robert said as he grabbed Roy's hand. This action made Ross smile, taking in the fact that this was really happening. "It's embarrassing though" Roy whined. "Just say it please" Ross spoke as he also grabbed one of Roy's hands in an attempt to cal him down. This only made him more flustered. "Can I kiss you two?" Roy blurted out in fake anger. "If you want to I mean, i-i just wanna know... what... it..." As he trailed off, Roy's anger quickly turned back into embarrassment (For the millionth time)
Robert and Ross looked at each other and smirked. First Ross crawled towards Roy on his knees. Ross placed both hands on Roy's jaw. Roy closed his eyes tightly, and they kissed. They kissed for what felt like an eternity to Roy, but was really only a few seconds. "You okay?" Asked Ross, after pulling away. "Yeah" Roy responded while nodding his head, looking at his new boyfriend(s) in awe, admiration, and disbelief. Robert, who was watching with a grin was now scooting towards Roy and kissed him as well. Roy had his hands on Roberts waist to stabilize him while he was on his knees, and Robert had one hand on Roy's leg, and the other on Ross' leg. After they pulled apart, Robert looked over at Ross with pleading eyes. Ross knew what this meant, so he smirked and turned to kiss Robert. Roy watched, Infatuated at the way their lips pressed together.
