Work Text:
Sunday laid in bed, his eyes closed and his music playing in his headphones. He was trying so, so hard not to cry, but it wasn't working well, as he could feel tears slipping out of the corners of his eyes. Sunday didn't even know why he was upset, he was very emotional, so this was normal. All he wanted to feel was the warmth of his boyfriend's embrace. He had waited patiently for Anaxa to get home, but it had been three hours and there was no sign of him. Sunday sighed and checked the clock. 1:42 AM. Sunday sighed again and rolled over onto his side, the headphones digging into his ear, but he didn't notice the pain. He closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep to the sound of his favorite song playing.
----------
The sound of the door to his room creaking woke Sunday up, and he sat up with a groan, rubbing his ear where the headphone was digging into it while he was sleeping.
He opened a bleary eye to see a familiar teal-haired man walk into the room, mumbling a quiet, "'M sorry for waking you." Sunday tried to say something, but he couldn't, so he just stared at Anaxa, his eyes wide and pleading. Anaxa noticed, and his eyes softened.
He whispered, "I'm going to change into pajamas quickly so that we can sleep, is that alright?" Sunday shook his head, he didn't want Anaxa to leave him. Anaxa paused, then sighed. "I'll just change in here then."
He quickly changed into pajamas while Sunday made himself more comfortable in the bed, taking out his headphones and putting his phone on the nightstand. While he did that, he checked the time, sighing when he saw the number 4:14. Sunday looked up when he felt the bed dip next to him, and he saw Anaxa lay next to him and open his arms. He smiled softly and then tears started to fall from Sunday's eyes. He fell into Anaxa's arms, the professor holding him closer and whispering sweet nothings into Sunday's ears.
Once the winged man stopped crying, he fell quiet in the professor's arms, Anaxa stroking his wings lightly. "You alright now?" the professor inquired, Sunday nodding hesitantly.
"If I may ask for a kiss..?" Anaxa's eyes softened at that soft question, and in response, he leaned down and captured the Halovian's lips softly. Sunday sighed into the kiss, pressing into Anaxa slightly. They kissed for a few more seconds before they parted, Sunday burying his face into Anaxa's chest after.
The professor smiled and whispered, "Are you tired, dear? Do you want to sleep?" Tears welled up in Sunday's eyes at the pet name, and he nodded his head yes. Anaxa kissed his forehead and pulled him closer, starting to hum a little lullaby that Sunday loved.
The Halovian snuggled closer to his beloved, starting to fall asleep. Before he did though, he swore he heard a whispered "I love you, my angel" coming from the teal-haired man's direction. Although Sunday thought it was from his half-asleep brain, he mumbled back a garbled "I love you too" to the man holding him, the love of his life, before falling asleep.
