Chapter Text
25th December 12:48pm
It has been a long morning in the Mori detective agency.
Conan and Ran barely got any sleep due to Kogoro’s loud snoring. Everyone just enjoys their day off by watching some Television.
Until suddenly the doorbell rings. Ran gets up to answer the door like always, but as soon as she opens it you can hear her sound surprised.
The person in front of the door is Aoko Nakamori, Inspector Nakamori’s daughter.
„Nakamori?” Says Ran confused, no one expected her.
„I’m sorry for coming here unannounced mid day...” Aoko looks down at her feet almost like she’s embarrassed to be here.
Ran notices that she looks somewhat sad. „No no it’s fine! Did something happen?” She opens the door wider. „Come in, I’ll make you some tea, you must be freezing.”
Aoko smiles warmly. „That would be nice. Thank you.” She closes the door behind her.
Only just now Kogoro noticed that there was another person in the agency. He immediately fixes his posture and hair. „Ahhh you must be Nakamori’s daughter, right?” He says not even bothering to stand up.
Aoko only nods in response. „Is there any reason for your visit? Did your father send you?” He says while turning his head back to the TV.
„Well actually...” Aoko starts. „I wanted to ask you, detective Kogoro, for help.” The moment she finished the sentence Kogoro already turned the TV off and jumped out of his seat almost sprinting to her.
It also caught Conan’s attention, why would the daughter of a police inspector need the help of a detective?
Ran came back with freshly filled tea and brought it to the table in front of me. „You need help? Is it a case for your dad?”
Aoko shakes her head. „No, he doesn’t even know I’m here. It’s more like a personal thing.” She adds while removing her shoes to enter the room even more.
Everyone sits at the table waiting for their tea to cool down. Conan and Ran are sitting next to Kogoro, who’s sitting opposite of Aoko.
Kogoro breaks the silence, „So, what kind of case are we talking about? You said it was a personal matter?”
„Right, uhm…” Aoko starts.
„A really good friend of mine has been missing for a couple of days now, I mean it’s nothing out of the ordinary that he leaves out of nowhere, but this time was different. He won’t even respond to any of my texts, all of this just feels weird...” She starts explaining the case.
„Of course, many people go missing these days and it’s been only like a couple of days, so why is she that worried?” Conan thinks to himself.
„I don’t know what do to. I didn’t want to dad to panic so I haven’t told him yet...” Aoko explains.
„Oh I see, that’s why you came here. Do you and that person have a tight relationship?” Conan asks while taking a sip of his tea.
„Actually yes. We’ve met when we were kids. He basically lives with us at the moment so my dad automatically let him in his heart.” She says smiling to herself but then drops it again. „Please you have to help me!”
Conan looks at her, feeling sorry for her.
„Her face…She could be Ran’s twin. No, Sibling.” He gets lost in thoughts and stopped listening for a second.
„They have a lot of familiarities it’s uncanny…” He mutters.
„I’m really sorry to hear that, do you perhaps have any pictures of that person?” Ran says softly, almost like sharing the pain.
„Yeah hold on...” Aoko finally pulls out the printed photo she had in her bag.
The room goes silent. Ran gasps „That looks like..."
In the photo you can see a boy, around 17-19 years old. He has messy brown hair with dark indigo eyes. He smiles into the camera and shows the peace sign.
Conan abruptly stands up from the couch.
Aoko looks confused by the reaction, „His name is Kaito Kuroba, a magician.”
