Work Text:
It’s a bit late and it’s getting dark outside already by the time they settle at a table in Siwoo’s favourite little restaurant. Jaehyuk had been busy and he’d tried to convince the man to re-schedule, but the man had simply whined and rambled about important GenG botlaners being impossible to get a hold of.
So, with a heavy sigh, Jaehyuk had agreed they’d meet up anyway and hung up the moment Siwoo started prattling on about ways Jaehyuk should make it up to him.
Now they’re here, Siwoo looking through the menu like they’ve not been here countless times before and Jaehyuk waiting patiently because he knew what he was getting before they even walked in.
“I think I’m going to go with this,” Siwoo announces, pointing at a dish Jaehyuk knows is way too much for him and incredibly expensive. He raises an eyebrow.
“Did you win the lottery, or what? You’ll finish half of it and then moan about it being a waste considering the price.”
“Of course not,” the support replies flippantly. “You’re paying.”
Jaehyuk splutters. “When did I ever agree to that?”
Amused eyes turn to him, pretty and clearly up to something. Jaehyuk knows he’s going to end up paying regardless, because that look spells trouble.
Siwoo grins at him. “You invited me, didn’t you? You suggested we have a meal. That’s date behaviour and the person who asks the other person out should pay.”
“I just said it’s been a while since we went out to eat.”
“Exactly. You missed me and wanted to go out on a date. I can’t blame you, really, I’m excellent company.”
Siwoo looks Jaehyuk up and down. “You could have dressed up a little more, though. What kind of first impression is this?”
Jaehyuck knows he looks a little plain. He’d been at the GenG building for some meetings and last minute schedule changes, so he’d not had the time to go back and pick out something nice before he and Siwoo were supposed to meet.
Siwoo knows that, though, and Jaehyuk also knows he’s just messing with him now.
“We’ve been dating for years. What do you mean, first impression?”
Siwoo ignores him and prattles on, a smile on his face and a pleased little redness to his cheeks. Jaehyuk loses the will to argue, because his boyfriend is cute and clearly missed spending time with him.
He’s happy where he is and proud of all GenG has achieved, but he knows he doesn’t have as much time as Siwoo would probably want. And Siwoo’s always been the one who needs Jaehyuk’s presence more. While Jaehyuk can go days on cute text messages and phone calls, Siwoo needs physical contact.
Just a hand in his or sneaking kisses in an empty hallway. Waking up together and having nowhere to be or nothing to do. Jaehyuk misses it, but he knows Siwoo misses it more.
So he’s not surprised that as the man talks about expectations and treating every date like it’s their first, the support’s fingers are tangling in Jaehyuk's. He probably doesn’t even realize he’s doing it.
Jaehyuk just lets him and smiles pleasantly at the waiter who comes over to take their order.
She doesn’t stay long.
“You’re so boring,” Siwoo complains after the lady has left. “You always take the same thing.”
“Hmm,” Jaehyuk hums. “I don’t need to keep trying new things once I know what I want. And I’ve known that for a long time.”
He smirks at the way Siwoo falls silent and instantly notices when the other man gets the implication. The support flushes, his ears a little pink, and gives Jaehyuk a shy smile. Where their fingers had laced into each other playfully earlier, now Siwoo grabs them tightly.
The man goes quiet, for once having nothing to say, and Jaehyuk waits. In these moments it’s best to give him some time to consider and reboot, because as much as Siwoo talks about and admits to everything readily, when Jaehyuk gets emotional and honest he never knows what to say.
“So you plan to have the same dish forever?” the support eventually asks, voice soft and a little searching.
“Hmm,” Jaehyuk answers. “I promise I’ll have it as long as it’s available to me.”
A smile blooms and Jaehyuk tells himself to say these things a little more, because nothing is more beautiful than his boyfriend when he’s reminded that even in their busy lives and Jaehyuk’s ridiculous schedule, they are forever.
Jaehyuk happily pays for him in the end and doesn’t complain when Siwoo doesn’t even finish half the dish.
He’s just glad at the joy in his boyfriend’s eyes.
