Dreaming 'Bout You Is How I Sleep At Night

Summary:

Sunbathing, musically and gay tho and there's actually no sun

Work Text:

Maxwell had been sitting on the floor with his back against the wall for about an hour now, his bass- Not plugged into an amp, at the moment- resting on his lap. He could barely hear it, but it made enough sound for him to know if he was playing the lines correctly or not. And, of course, he had his husband’s head on his leg, listening to him play while watching him pluck notes from the strings.

Jordan always did this, he even fell asleep there often, too. He’d come lay down beside him whenever he had his bass out, usually with his cat, Andy, alongside him. Now was one of those times- Maxwell was still playing, the light pressure of his vocalist against his thigh, “their” cat asleep on his chest, which rose and fell softly with each breath he took. His husband had been out for a while, and Andy had taken up his space not long after his father and fallen asleep.

He carefully set his bass on the floor, lifting his fingers to gently tangle into his lover’s soft hair. Jordan looked so peaceful, deep in his rest with one palm having lifted up to unconsciously stroke his cat’s fur, however slowly. Maxwell slowly caressed his husband's stubbled jaw, his fretting hand reaching up to pet Andy as he admired his gorgeous partner. Even if it had been years since they'd gotten together, since their wedding even, he still couldn't believe he'd attracted a man so perfect.

Jordan was, first of all, a great man in his entirety. He was incredibly caring, and he never held back on his love, which might annoy others, but he couldn't appreciate anything more. Not only that, he was for everyone, so long as they were, too. He was such a fiery, passionate man, always willing to do whatever needed to be done, no matter what. He had a habit of screaming revolution at the top of his lungs, and not even two minutes later, gently kissing his husband with those same lips.

That, and the fact that he was absolutely fucking stunning, in every form of the word. His soft green eyes never failed to captivate him, especially if the sun hit them just right when they had that adoring look in them. Jordan claimed that his eyes were better in said light, but, honestly, Maxwell thought his own looked like dirt compared to his beloved's. Paired with those fluffy, defined curls of his and the shape of his face that fit perfectly beneath his chin, he was a vision of pure beauty.

Oh, how Maxwell loved his husband.

With a soft sigh, he pulled his lover into his arms, giving a quiet chuckle when Andy jumped off of his chest to instead stand at his feet as he stood up. He lifted Jordan with him, holding him the exact same way he had on the day they'd gotten married. Maxwell took great care as he walked to their bedroom, their cat following him closely and jumping up onto their bed once he pushed the door open. He gently set his husband down on the mattress, tugging his shirt off and leaning down to press his lips to his nose.

He lay down beside the other man, wrapping his arms around his waist and drawing him close. Unconsciously, Jordan rolled onto his side to press his face into the crook of his husband's neck, balling up his hands between their bodies. Andy curled up on the space between their legs above the blanket, once Maxwell had pulled it up to their waists. Carefully, he nestled his nose into his lover’s thick curls, inhaling deeply and allowing his eyes to drift shut. “I love you, Jordan,” He whispered affectionately just before sleep claimed him as well.

With every day that passed, his deep certainty that he would never regret marrying this perfect man only grew.
