Chapter 1: Walking Scott street, feeling like a stranger

Chapter Text

Don’t be a stranger
Chapter one:

It has been four years since everything happened. El’s sacrifice, the most devastating friendzone of the century, And of course Vecna finally being defeated. Everyone sort of
moved on after a while.

Lucas and Max moved in together in a small apartment. They still talked to the party, just not as much. Dustin went on to become a science teacher, which he loved. Will and Mike haven’t really talked to each other within that time frame. A few calls a week turned into one call a month, a month turned into one a year, a year turned into.. Well none. Mike figured Will was better off without him. One fateful morning Mike Wheeler was walking No. running. the streets of Manhattan. He was embarrassingly late to his class. “Shit shit shit!” He shouted as he sprinted to the college campus. He was really hoping he wouldn't get a lecture from his professor for the third time that week. Without processing where he was going he collided with
someone.

He hit the ground hard, pain exploding in his back. “Shit oh my god I’m so sorry!” a voice above him said apologetically, extending a hand out for Mike to grab.
The voice sounded familiar. No.. it couldn't have been.. He picked up his slightly cracked glasses sliding them on his face. The “Stranger” he had bumped into was Will Byers. His heart raced. “Will?..” He muttered in disbelief, taking his hand. Will chuckled softly. “Mike.. wow I.. can’t believe it’s you.” Mike stood up slowly, brushing off imaginary dirt on his pants. “What are you doing in New York?” Mike asked utterly confused.

Will shrugged exaggeratedly. “Oh I don’t know.. I've always wanted to visit the city that never sleeps." He said sarcastically. Mike knew that joking tone. “Haha very funny, what are you really doing here?” Will shifted on his feet. “I figured you’d be here. The last time we talked on the phone which was- god I don’t even know how long ago.” he cleared his throat roughly, clearly

uncomfortable talking about this. “You told me you were in New York doing writing right?” Will asked the memory dawning on him. Mike nodded eagerly, maybe a little too eager. “Yeah I got accepted a little while back.” Will nodded with a slight smile on his face. God Mike missed it so much. There was a slightly awkward silence when Mike finally spoke up. “What are you majoring in? I'm sure it's something amazing." Will's cheeks dusted pink. "Art actually."

Mike smiled lopsidedly. " of course your doing that, you have always been an artist.." Will smiled. Mike glanced at his watch. "oh shit my class started five minutes ago. Sorry I need to go-" Will suddenly grabbed Mike's arm. "Wait!" Mike looked at him confused. "Can I come by your place later?" Will asked softly. Mike smiled. "of course you can." Will waved as Mike sprinted to class. Mike waved back. They had a lot to catch up on.
