Chapter 1: he was sunshine

Chapter Text

Sasuke was born to be a celebrity. Good looking, charming, and charismatic. So much so that he had the nickname, "Charasuke". And while he has a dedicated large fanbase, what truly put him on the general public’s consciousness was when he was paired with up and coming actress, Sakura Haruno.

Their chemistry was discovered by pure accident. Both of them got to be special hosts for a well beloved variety show. One of the tech people missed the cue and put both of them on the livestream a little too early. Their temporary moment of confusion and quick recovery was caught on camera. All they did was look at each other, laughed at the unintentional mistake and managed to adlib on the spot.

And the viewers absolutely loved it.

Their little 20 seconds of interaction got thousands of engagement online with people talking about their chemistry and professionalism. Several reposted and fan edited videos of that moment got hundreds of thousands of views. It was the hot topic of the general public.

It was a whirlwind of interviews, photoshoots, brand deals, and many projects after that. Surprisingly, his fanbase wasn’t angry with the setup. Seeing their fave be favored by the public must have dampen any protests they might have seeing him with a woman.

Sasuke had never heard of sakura prior to working with her before. They’ve politely introduced themselves before the that show but it got too busy to talk further. It was after their agencies have met for business discussions after their viral moment did they finally have time to talk.

When the bosses have already left to discuss paperwork, Sakura had turned to him and said, “Hey, thanks for agreeing to do this.”

Charasuke smiles, “Of course.”

“I don’t have any connections in the industry. Even my agency is still fairly new and small. So i appreciate it," she looked at him softly, eyes twinkling as she smiled at him. Something fluttered inside his chest then. He knew, there was no going back.

The public loved them. They go crazy for every contact, every sweet (empty) line said to one another. Even the small gestures: his hand on the small of her back, her helping him fix his collar, or them joking around off cam, had people losing their minds.

Charasuke’s schedule had never been this busy before. There was always something lined up: an interview, a tv commercial, a magazine photoshoot, and even planning on what to post on social media. but then again, he didn’t mind it at all. He and Sakura worked too well together.

They aren’t even given scripts anymore, the producers just trust both of them to come up with things naturally on the spot. The directors for photoshoots and commercials also loved working with them as they just always find the correct rhythm.

Sakura’s work ethic is admirable. Always kind to the staff and the fans. No matter how tiring the schedule is, it never shows on her demeanor. He’d never met someone so dedicated and goal oriented.

And so professional.

So, so painstakingly professional.

Because when the lights are all out, when the cameras stop rolling, and as soon as they are out of the public eye, she clocks out.

Her loving gaze at him dims.

The hand that was holding his lets go.

And the distance between them widens.
