Work Text:

It's not immediately obvious, because Tomoro isn't a very excitable person to begin with. But he is, in lack of better terms, moping and pining.

During the luxury cruise trip, he doesn't go anywhere aside from his room and the pool. He ventures a bit to one of the many restaurants—then, overwhelmed by the choices and even more overwhelmed by Gekkomon's attempt to inhale everything, decides on room service.

Once they're back—to Glowing Dawn's base and to the red in their account books—Tomoro doesn't do anything new in particular.

But he's a lot more withdrawn. Not to the same state as when he first joined. A different kind of silence. One that's prone to staring into the distance and sighing deeply. One that actually has him taking out his Sapotama frequently, tapping at it like he's constantly checking something. Sometimes, he even uses the camera function to take photos of some random things.

For the most part, he just keeps staring wistfully at some spot, like he could will something to appear by staring long enough.

"Argh, I can't take it anymore! Why are you so dispirited lately, Tomoro?!" Reina ruffles her hair, weirded out by the other's mopey vibe. She even attempts to joke, in an effort to get a reaction from the other. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you'd been dumped by a girl that you're chasing."

That, or some grandpa who's reminiscing about the past ninety years, all while seating on a rocking chair.

If Tomoro is his normal self, he'd definitely shoot her a dirty look, before snippily retorting to her joke.

The Tomoro of the past few days isn't very normal. Today's Tomoro sighs and rubs the back of his neck. He looks like he's about to impart important knowledge, like he has discovered a horrible secret about the Five Stars. Instead, what comes out of his mouth is: "I'm worried about Raito."

Reina immediately loses interest. "The pickup artist? He's old and big enough, he knows what he's doing."

"I know." Another sigh. "But I'm still worried about him."

"If you have enough time to worry about him, worry more about the lack of food in our pantry," Reina suggests. She could sense that thinking about their accounts is going to lead her to early baldness.

"You could send Raito-san a message," Makoto suggests, ever-diplomatic. "If Tomoro-san really wants to know how he's doing."

Tomoro sighs again, fiddling with his Sapotama. "I already messaged him, multiple times."

"You actually managed to get his number?" Reina can't help but whistle.

Pristimon chimes in, "Turns out, the pickup artist failed to get Reina's contact information, but his contact is the one that's picked up..."

Makoto claps his hands. "I was going to suggest using Chiropmon to help get his contact, but if Tomoro-san already has it, then I'm happy for you."

"But he barely replies," Tomoro grumbles. "He only said that he's fine and that I should stop nagging him and that I should focus my energy on learning to control my emotions."

"...That's actually way more replies that I expected," Reina says after a moment of watching Tomoro fume.

As if emboldened by the fact that there are now people—and Digimon—listening to his plight, Tomoro continues, "Every morning I tell him that he's a genius so he shouldn't work so hard, but he only tells me to shut up... I keep sending him reminders to eat his meals on time too, but he never replies... Sometimes the messages aren't even 'Seen'. Just what is he doing that's causing him to miss meals? Is he in trouble again? Does he go often to the Mirror World?"

Gekkomon puts forth his piece, "If you stop sending him photos of your food, I can eat them faster, ya know!"

"Aren't you worried about Monodramon too." Tomoro clicks his tongue.

Reina can't take this anymore. She considers herself being very civilized by not shaking the other by his oversized jacket and throwing him out the door. "If you're not going to use your brains to think about our finances, fine. But if you're just going to act like a clingy idiot, do it far away from me! Or better yet, just go ahead and find him and drag him back with you!"

Tomoro blinks, and then his eyes sparkle with awe. It's endearing and horrifying at once.

"Reina... that's so smart..."

"Don't actually try to kidnap another man, oi!"
