Work Text:
FOR A MOMENT, THE WORLD SLOWED DOWN. The hour had turned midnight. The rain stopped and the wind whistled lowly outside. A stream of water gushed down from the rooftop’s gutter, crashing down onto the stoned pavement of the Oosawa residence. The two of them were visiting Aya’s mother, Aiko, and the twins for the weekend.
The home felt like theirs too, in a way. The walls knew their secrets and conversations. The floors felt every footstep that they took as they roamed around the house; every quiet step to the kitchen to eat some leftover dessert. Which only happened whenever they caught Aki and Amu trying to do so; with Mitsuki convincing Aya to join the twins. The hallways of the Oosawa residence heard the echoes of their laughter.
Including his.
Ever since Mitsuki had been brought over to the Oosawa residence, entering the house as Aya’s boyfriend, he made himself at home; the way she wanted him to be.
The movie they had chosen earlier played quietly on the TV, but neither one of them had cared to continue watching or turn it off.
Aya was curled on his lap, sitting sideways as her legs were draped over his thighs. Her arms wrapped around his neck, her cheek rested against his shoulder. Her breathing was slow and even.
Mitsuki didn’t move, nor did he want to.
One hand rested on the small of Aya’s back, the other gently cradled the back of her hand. His fingers tangled in the strands of her hair whilst being mindful of his rings; fingertips moving in slow and circular motions, massaging her scalp to lull her into a deeper sleep. He turned his head slightly, kissing her forehead.
“I love you,” he murmured, voice barely above a whisper.
Aya stirred a bit, muttering something he couldn’t quite make out, but Mitsuki chuckled anyway, pulling her closer and rested his head on top of hers, closing his eyes with a content sigh.
He truly was at home.
