Chapter Text
Cassie awoke with a large gasp for air, her chest felt heavy, her vision was blurred, and she could tell her pulse was reeling.
ย
As she slowly came to her sense, she felt a tingling sensation on both her arms and forehead. She tried to pull her arm up to feel for damage, but when she tried, her arm throbbed.
ย
She managed to move it enough so it could reach her forehead. She felt something wet. She pulled her arm downโฆ ๐๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฅ... She thought.
ย
She tried to stand, she let out a noise that sounded like something between a gasp, and a groan, but by no means was the noise make to show she was felt awesome and energized, in reality, it was made for the opposite reason.
ย
She held her right arm as it ached and throbbed, she could tell it was broken, or atleast sprained.
ย
She felt her whole body ache in pain. Her knees, legs, arms, head, they all hurt. She thought.
As she tried to take a step towards the wall, her knees gave out, causing her to fall to the rubble covered ground.
ย
Cassie was confused. She had no clue of where she was, what happened, and how she got this hurt. She began to sob. She began to sob on the damaged floor.
ย
As she wailed, she hands clinged onto something as they were moving across the debris.
ย
Cassie realized she was touching something that was hard, but had a front of soft fabric. Polyester or cotton maybe?
ย
She looked over as fast as she could, which caused her head pound in retaliation, but at this point, she didn't care, she just wanted to figure out where she was and what she was doing here.
ย
What she saw was a mask, a mask that was constructed to resemble a rabbit. As she felt it with her hand, she felt that it has some sort of wires laced inside it. She observed.
ย
She raised her arms, trying to ingnore the pulsing in her arms, and put on the mask to the side of her head, she decided it would be better to keep it with her, just in case.
ย
Noticing she found something that seemed to have importance so quickly, she decided she would gaze the room from where she sat, deciding that this was a better option then attempting to stand at the moment.
ย
While her vision was blurry, and the place she woke up in was quite dim, she was able to spot something mainly purple from a far.
ย
She was curious about what it was, as she couldn't tell due to her abstracted vision and the darkness, but she could not be bothered to get up right now.
ย
She had more important things to do.
Cassie thought.
ย
She sat there on the ground quietly, swallowing the pain seizing her body, trying to recall what had happened.
ย
After a minute, it still hadn't come to her. She thought sarcastically.
ย
She gazed across the rubble covering the room and everything around it, wondering to herself what happened to cause such a result of damages to the asphalt that was once, she assumed, fully intact below her.
She thought.
Cassie had been through a lot over the years. And she had a lot of pressure to be pretty, perfect, smart, but she felt like she never reached those goals. Now that she was in this situation, she wondered if she ever would.
ย
In the desolate darkness ofโฆ wherever she was. She thought of her father's words.
She remembered.
ย
Her father, despite sometimes putting pressure on her, was always there for her. And even if he wasn't there now, Cassie knew she could rely on his words to encourage her, especially now, when she needed it the most.
ย
Her father's words played through her head, over and over, and she tried to stand onto her own two feet once more.
Her thoughts repeated.
ย
Her body pounded in pain, and trembled as she stood, she grunted in pain.
ย
She looked down, seeing the damage done to her legs almost caused her to fall just at the sight, but she pushed through the need to do so.
ย
She stumbled far enough to be able to lean against the wall for support, making it easier to walk. And when say walk, i mean drag herself.
ย
She winced at the pain, but she had to see what else was here, she couldn't just let herself bleed to death down here! She knew there had to be a way out.
ย
After a solid minute of hobbling against the wall, pushing through the incapacitating ache in her body, she reached the purple thing she had spotted.
ย
Reaching down to grab it, she lost balance, due to the dizziness, and the pain, as a result she fell to the ground, beside the object she had seen.
ย
She grunted at the pain that pulsed through her body due to the injuries, and her stumble.
ย
She slowly turned her head and looked beside her, starting to make out more of a shape despite her unclear focus on reality she currently had. And not in a good way.
ย
She grabbed it with her left arm, although it was on the opposite side of the object, it hurt a lot less to move her left arm then her right.
ย
She moved it closer to her face, it took a minute to process what it was.
She wondered.
ย
As she observed the plastic communicator she shared with Gregory, everything suddenly came back to her in a fast rush of memories.
ย
Events, pictures, sounds, the adrenaline she felt racing through to hallways for her life, Gregory needing help, his betrayal, the endless chases, whatever thatโฆ thingโฆ in the basement how the plex wasโฆ.
ย
Absolutely everything came back to her.
ย
She began to weep, sitting on the rubble of the asphalt below her.
ย
She was tired, she was injured, she was wounded, but most of all, she was heartbroken. The one person she let into her life besides her dad that didn't criticize her, that was nice, genuinely nice, had left her to dieโฆ
She thought.
He had said to her. Before dropping her who knows how many feet, leaving her to die alone in the basement of a past children's entertainment facility.
Cassie thought.
Her mind raced, rightfully so, filled with thoughts of betrayal and, well, being alone again. Assuming she got out of this alive not perishing due to;
One, blood loss.
Two, dehydration, assuming the wounds didn't kill her.
Or three, the robot that's trapped down here with her!
She would no longer have any friends, due to the fact her only one just pretty much sacrificed her.
ย
But that wasn't the issue she should focus on, she had to find a way to get out of this crevice. But, she was spent, she used her remaining energy on getting to the walky-talky.
ย
As if to represent her last remaining efforts, Cassie lifted her walky-talky slowly, which was as fast as she could lift it in her current damaged state.
ย
As she was sprawled across the tarnished asphalt, she brought the walky-talky up the her ear. She could barely keep it in her hand due to the weakness in her body caused from injuries and blood loss.
ย
She held down the button on the communicator, and took a long breath.
ย
She mumbled.
ย
Her arm dropped onto her chest. She breathed slowly, hoping someone, anyone, would find her. Save her. Get her out of this uncanny mess.
ย
On the edge on consciousness, she heard static coming from the walky-talky. Cassie thought. She hoped with every fiber of her being that they, whoever they are did.
ย
Even though the static gave her some hope, and a small burst of energy, consciousness was no longer in her grasp.
ย
Cassie passed out.
ย
Was the last thing she heard before everything went black.
ย
During her last moment of awareness, she saw a figure run towards her. A tear trickled down her eye.
