Love Lost

Summary:

Usually I drop my poems in Original Works. This is a homage to all of the Supernatural-based stories I have read that are based on unrequited love, including triangles, misunderstandings, and well-intended failures. I wrote this after I left the man I thought was my true love–and moved 1000 miles away. The good news–we both found lasting happiness with the right people. He and I are still friends. A good guy.

Notes:

I own nothing. I rely on the talent and kindness of strangers.
No Beta. All mistakes are mine to claim and bear.
Kudos and comments and bookmarks are much appreciated. Thank you!
My relationship with the canon is the same as that of the show's writers and show runners, meaning I do what I please.

I wrote this before I knew about the Supernatural world. When I ask for the ghost to be dead I mean to be dead AND gone, but never could figure out a satisfying meter. But I bet some of you have been haunted by an old passion, even if you were the person who left.

Caught in an open relationship. He wanted both of us, actually, all of us, but I was not his first choice. Nope and nope.

Work Text:

Darling I'm leaving

You know that it's true

That I would have broken

My own heart in two.

It's not that you're wicked

Or that you don't care.

But I can't love a lover

Who's not even there.

And I loved you.

And you glowed

In my arms

Like the dawn.

The ghost of our love

Lies besides me in bed.

I think it is sleeping.

I wish it were dead.

I go to bed weeping

I wake up alive.

Thank God it is springtime

I think I'll survive.

And I loved you.

And you glowed

in my arms

like the dawn.
