Chapter Text
Miitopia was a nice little world, where all Miis could live in peace and harmony. And one of these Miis was a young girl named Pearl. Pearl was your average girl, nothing super special about her, who had a older brother she cared for very much.
Until he disappeared.
Pearl left home one sunny day, with nothing but a poster in hand, as she wandered through the grasslands near her home, looking out for her brother. But nobody was in sight, so she sat down, and saw a pink butterfly float gently onto her head. She decided to not move, to let the butterfly rest on her head a bit.
Little did she know, that butterfly would be the start of a journey to save her home…
Suddenly, a glowing orb with eyes in it flew down, and landed on the butterfly, causing it to fly back as it roared, with the eyes firmly planted on it's wings. The butterfly roared again as Pearl shot up, and backed up. The butterfly roared one last time as Pearl screamed and ran away, dropping her poster in the process. She ran, and ran, and ran, until she ran out of stamina.
"Where… Am I?"
Pearl, in her running, didn't run back home, but in a random direction, but at least she found a small town.
Entering the town, Pearl looked around the town, her fear still etched on her face. There was a person leaning on the wall, looking around, an older woman behind a counter, selling small foods. There was a child running around, with their mother watching them. A couple was whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears. There was a girl about her age, walking and talking to herself, and someone just sitting there, sneering at her. Pearl walked through the town, looking for someone in a position of authority, to help guide her back to her hometown. She saw someone overlooking from the fanciest house with the fanciest outfit in the village. He was likely the mayor, so Pearl went up to him.
"Hello there sir!" Pearl said, "I am just an adventurer who got lost."
"Ah, hello adventurer, I am Mayor Louis."
"Have you seem my brother? His name is Obsidian. He looks like me, but with shorter hair and no mole on his cheek."
"No I have not seen anyone like you, I apologize."
"What's this place's name?"
"Greenhorne. Greenhorne's a nice town. Though I'm the mayor, so I kinda have to say that."
Suddenly, the sky became dark as night, as the people looked up. The person leaning on the wall steadied himself while pointing to the sky, talking to the older woman behind the counter. The older woman looked up, and backed up deeper into her stall. The child ran into their mother's arms, and hid while their mother hugged them. The couple also hugged each other. The child started crying, while the girl her age all started running away. The person who sneered at them earlier let out a small comment of this not being good. The mayor and Pearl looked up at' the rapidly darkening sky.
Then, a creature summoned from the darkness, legs messing, a long robe covered that up. Large light blue hands that floated in front of them, with long purple claws. A face that felt all too familiar to Pearl with large horns that protruded from it. The creature laughed loudly, freezing most the townsfolk in fear. Pearl wished she was hiding in a house right now, or maybe that she stayed with that butterfly. Whatever that was was better than this…
"I am the dark lord! I've come to wreak mayhem and terror on this miserable world! And I'm starting with you, people of Greenhorne!"
The dark lord was smirking, a smile growing wider with each minute, but not one of pure happiness, one of dark happiness, a grin from the darkest depths, with sharp teeth and glowing eyes.
"Time to taste true fear! Say good-bye to your faces!" The dark lord said with a laugh.
