It's april 8, year 2005 in the heat of spring, a red headed teenage boy sits in his room, playing a video game that he was losing terribly at, a boy sat across from him, watching the red head lose in the game over and over again, eventually the boy named Hayate called out to The red head saying
'asuka, what's the point of trying over and over again, at this point you should just pick up a different game.'
asuka turned his head around to talk to Hayate And responded saying
'I know it seems pointless but I can surely Win if I keep trying.'
after a few minutes pass Asuka eventually puts down the Game and offers to get hayate and himself some drinks to cool down from the unbearable heat, hayate agrees and Asuka excitedly goes to get the drinks while Hayate sits back and waits for his friend to come back.
A few weeks later, rain is pouring down and Hayate enjoys the scenery from inside the classroom where he sits, school is almost over, Asuka Packs up both his things and Hayate's belongings even though Hayate didn't ask him to, while Asuka Packs up, he was being overly Enthusiastic to Hayate about an upcoming video game, saying
'Haven't you heard about this new game! It's about a hero saving the world from the grasp of evil, gaining companions along the way!'
Hayate looks away from the window to Look at Asuka and Said
'what makes it so different from all the other games? To me it just sounds like every other video game.'
Asuka Defends the game and said
'so? It's special to me, even if other people don't like it..'
Hayate still doesn't understand why Asuka likes the game but he doesn't question it
after a little while Asuka and Hayate walks through the hallway to leave school together, Hayate Finds his umbrella gone, probably had been taken by another student by mistake, as Hayate quietly gets annoyed by the Inconvenience though keeping his composure on the outside, Asuka doesn't notice Hayate's internal turmoil and ends up offering to share his umbrella with Hayate,
the two walk home together in the rain as Asuka Admires Hayate's calmness while Hayate was nervous Bec of the close Proximity
'so.. I was wondering if we could hang out at your house just like old times!'
Asuka asked Hayate, hoping that hayate would say yes
'oh.. about that, I don't think we can, but maybe next time'
Hayate Responded, he looked away from Asuka and Asuka's smile dropped a little but kept his composure, Asuka nods even though he is disappointed because ever since they became teens, Hayate's parents wouldn't let Asuka hang out with Hayate bec They thought of him as a bad influence on Hayate.
The next day the two are in P.E together, getting ready for dodgeball, Asuka Noticed Hayate looking a little more tired than usual
'Heyyy.. what's with the long face and Tired eyes? Are you alright?'
Asuka asked with concern, trying to keep up his usual cheerfulness although it was hard for him to act cheery when he was worried
Hayate immediately Shook his head and Told Asuka that he was fine, saying he was just Tired from not getting enough sleep last night, in reality he had Stayed awake last night due to thinking about the walk home with Asuka from yesterday, Asuka didn't press Hayate to continue.
Dodgeball eventually started and In the middle of an intense match, Hayate got Distracted by Asuka on the opposite team and thinking about how Handsome Asuka looked, suddenly his daydreaming was interrupted as a Dodgeball hit Hayate square in the face
Asuka turned as pale as a Sheet of paper because he thought he just injured his best friend and immediately rushed To Hayate's side and Asked hayate whether he was okay as Hayate quickly responded to ease Asuka's worries and said he was okay although both of them ended up losing Bec right after that Asuka was hit with a Dodgeball,
Sitting with Asuka, Hayate Stared blankly at the floor, he wonders what Asuka would do in this situation since Asuka always seems to know what to do or what to say, his thinking is interrupted as Asuka pulled Hayate closer to make sure he was safe from getting hit by any stray dodgeball, Hayate stopped his thinking and just savored the moment of enjoying watching the match with Asuka
After weeks of silently crushing on Asuka and Floundering Like a fish out of water, Hayate finally Asked Asuka to go hangout at the Nearby park, asuka responded
'Oh! Right it's been a while since we Hung out there, I bet we can get some great Pictures together like we Did last time!'
Asuka smiled brightly, almost obnoxiously so, Asuka followed up by saying
'I'll see you after school then!'
Asuka excitedly waves goodbye and Leaves, once Asuka is gone, hayate smiles to himself although that bit of Happiness was immediately overshadowed by overwhelming nervousness as after school The two met at the park, asuka was taking pictures of Hayate and the scenery, Hayate was looking at the ground, trying to build up the courage to tell Asuka about his feelings, Hayate's eyes Looked over to Asuka, Hayate stood still as he saw Asuka smiling widely, admiring the view while the wind breezed Gently causing the sakura leafs to fall, the Sun's Light Across Asuka's face and red hair, camera in hand
'so, why did you bring me here? There has to be a Good Reason as to why, you usually don't pick spots like this, especially since it's a little crowded'
Asuka asked Hayate, obviously curious and Hayate Snaps out of his daydream,
'nothing.. I just thought you'd enjoy seeing the Sakura trees after all it's a great time see them bloom..'
Hayate Quickly Responded, he Makes up an excuse that Asuka thankfully Accepted, he eventually decides to not tell his feelings to Asuka because he doesn't want to Ruin their friendship even though he already feels a bit of regret.
The two hang out for a little while and part ways, afterwards Hayate walks home, he took out the pictures Asuka gave him from his pocket, staring at those pictures, he regretted not telling Asuka when he had the chance but Reminds himself that this is for the best of their relationship and that even if they were together, it wouldn't work out, he puts away the pictures as he quietly Decides to just admire Asuka from afar like he always did.
