Something that Lena thought she would be able to brag about when she got with Kara is the very fact that she's dating Kara. Really, it was very obvious that they were a couple, there was no actual need to brag. Oh but Lena really wanted to. She was dating the most gorgeous woman in the multiverse and everyone should know that.
And if that was so then why was Kara still being hit on by random people? She was Lena's date to the gala, everyone saw them arrive together. Didn't they?
"So who's the lucky person this time, Luthor?" Lena blinked, looking back at the group of women she was supposed to be talking to. They were from her school, she vaguely remembered attending some parties with them.
"Lucky person?" Was someone finally gonna ask, did someone finally notice?!
"Don't try to hide it. You did a bad job of it anyway, you've got little marks all over you. Are you dating a vampire or something?" One of the women, Alice was probably her name, chuckled as she took a sip of her drink.
Lena's hand immediately went to her neck. She tried to tell Kara too cool it on their drive here but she claimed Lena looked too good to resist in her dress. That was true, Lena knew that much. She also realized why people haven't been flirting with her tonight. Because Kara marked her. But Kara should also be... Lena knows she did a number on her back on their way here.
On Kara's unbreakable, muscular back, Kryptonian back. As soon as she thought about that fact for more than a minute she saw the problem.
"The lucky person is a certain blonde who I need to go save. Excuse me, ladies." Lena downed the rest of her drink in one gulp and all but shoved people on her way to Kara who looked like she was moments from combusting. The blonde was not used to this kind of attention. "Sorry I was gone for so long, darling. I was catching up with some old schoolmates."
Lena's tone was polite and sweet as it could be but her hand on Kara's back told a different story. "Lena! I was just about to come find you! I think I'm just about ready to leave, I uhm... I think I had a bit too much to drink." A good lie except no amount of human alcohol could get Kara drunk. Only Lena knew that.
"In that case why is this man offering you more? Are you trying to make my girlfriend sick?" Lena's other hand pressed against Kara's bicep, her smile going from sweet to threatening.
"N-No, no! She said she liked this one so I... she didn't say anything about feeling sick! I thought she was just a bit shy, I swear!" The man backed up next to the woman who looked just as guilty.
"Also she never said anything about being in a relationship." She mumbled almost to herself more than anyone around her.
Lena saw red. "If someone doesn't feel like talking to you they don't owe you an explanation why that is. And what does her being or not being in a relationship have to do with you refusing to leave her alone and trying to get her drunk?!" Lena's anger started to attract some eyes, more eyes than the man and woman seemed to be comfortable with so they tried their best to leave and blend back into the crowd.
Pleased with her intimidation Lena took Kara by the hand to lead her back to their car. The driver opened the door as soon as he saw them approaching.
"Honestly, the nerve of some people." They were barely in the car before Lena turned the privacy screen on and was climbing onto Kara's lap. "Are you okay, darling?"
"Much better now. Thanks for the rescue, they were driving me insane but I didn't want to say anything too rude. But that guy did have a very punchable face." Lena laughed against Kara's neck as she draped her arms over the blonde's shoulders. "Luckily I had you there to save me, my pretty hero."
"Always, Kara. Although we might have a slight, unfair problem on our hands." Speaking of hands, Kara's were rubbing up and down Lena's thighs, occasionally moving under her dress but not where Lena needed them. "Despite my best efforts I can't seem to leave my marks on you like you do to me. At times like these it's very frustrating, even though I normally like how strong you are." Lena's teeth pressed into the skin on Kara's neck and the blonde grunted in response, more from the words at this point.
"Lena... babe... please..."
"And do you know why that's so frustrating, Kara? Do you?" She bit down hard, fully knowing that it won't hurt no matter how hard she pressed. The privacy screen was doing so much work muffling Kara's pleas and desperate moans. "It's because there's no physical evidence of you being mine. I like you being mine, I like being yours. Can you really blame me for wanting other to know it?"
Kara's features softened when she heard that little bit of insecurity in Lena's voice. Usually she was so confident but a lot of that was projected learned behavior. Like everyone else she had her insecurities. This was apparently one of them.
"I'll say it next time. Clearly. I'll say I'm taken and if they ask by who I'll say it's you. It'll always be you Lena, just you, you'll always be my favorite person in the whole universe and beyond. If you want me to shout that from the rooftops then I will." She was not kidding about that, she could do that, from every rooftop on the planet in fact.
"As sweet as that is I don't want you to die from embarrassment. Hmmm, maybe I'll think of buying some new lipstick. The marks won't last as long but as long as you pretend not to notice them it'll get a few heads turning the other way." She made her point by planting a firm kiss on the side of Kara's neck, but sadly she wasn't wearing strong lipstick that night so it didn't leave as much of a mark as she would have liked.
"I like the sound of that. Try out as many kinds as you want, kiss me anywhere you want. We need to see which one will fit best right?" Kara looked and sounded as excited as she would be for any other experiment. She was after all a huge nerd at heart, despite being a superhero and a fighter.
"Careful darling, you're gonna give me too much power over you." Which was hot.
"Oh no. I'll be completely at your mercy. Whatever shall I do?" And then there was this goofy, dramatic side of her. It didn't really mater which side of herself Kara showed when, Lena loved all of them equally, the Super, the Danvers and the Zor-El. Those were all parts that made her beloved Kara.
"Don't worry, Kara, I promise to treat you well." And for Kara it didn't matter what side Lena showed, the CEO, the Luthor, the scientist, to Kara she was her beloved Lena.
