Chapter Text
Miles loved his family.
They had taken him in after his parents had abandoned him on their front doorstep.
He knew that his family didn't think he remembered. He had decided not to tell them unless they asked.
He didn't tell them a lot of things. Like the fact that he shared memories with his brother through one-way telepathy.
He didn't tell them that his brother had begun a life of crime with their biological uncle. Their Uncle Aaron had trained Milo to become the next Prowler. Miles knew that Milo didn't remember the memories Miles tried to show him. Mostly because Miles had abilities that his brother didn't.
His adoptive parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams had raised him as their eldest child, even though his younger sister, Wednesday was their biological eldest child. But he was treated as the eldest because he was technically their first child.
He called his adoptive parents Madre and Padre because he didn't want to lose his Latino roots. His family often found him speaking Spanish when he either got really excited, upset, or sleepy. Sometimes he spoke Spanish just because he didn't feel like speaking English. It was a good thing his family also spoke Spanish and English.
Since he had grown up with the Addams, he had developed his own macabre style in the family.
Miles and his family had gone out on the town once when he was ten years old and he saw graffiti on a building as they creeped through alleyways, trying to stay away from the sun. He found himself interested in the art style and decided to paint in his own horrifying and terrifying way. He snuck out most of the time to paint different gory scenes on abandoned buildings.
He had found himself particularly entranced in painting a torture scene one day when Madre had come looking for him and found him an hour later still trying to get the gore to look right. She had stood there in silence and watched him still lost in his process until he was done. He had been surprised when he finally noticed her and had looked down at the ground, waiting for her to scold him for his less than legal activities.
But she had told him that his art was hauntingly beautiful. She also gave him tips on how to make the blood, gore, and expressions of terror look more realistic. After that, she had taken him home and talked with his Padre about giving him the art studio they had. Seeing as they barely used it, he readily agreed.
When Miles was fourteen, he had snuck out again to find a new place to throw up his art. He had wanted to paint a bigger mural than what his studio had the space for. He had found himself deep within an old, abandoned subway station, painting his mural, when a radioactive spider bit him. He'd already had spider-like tendencies before, finding himself painting webs on his bedroom walls, hissing at people when they interrupted his progress, and even wrapping himself up in a cocoon made of silk blankets when he was tired or overwhelmed. But after the spider bit him he gained abilities that no one else in his creepy family had.
He gained heightened senses, heightened strength, he moved faster than before, he could camouflage himself, and he had an electrical venom strike. He also gained a new mutation.
Spinnerets on the inside of his wrists.
Before he'd discovered his new abilities and mutation, he'd met Spider-Man a few minutes before he died at the hands of Wilson Fisk. A.K.A, Kingpin. A mountain of a man that did what he wanted, whenever he wanted. Regardless of what or who was in his way to reach his goal.
That night he had returned back home and told his family what had happened to him and what he had seen.
His sister immediately wanted to test his new abilities, but their Madre had shut it down because Miles had been upset. Their Padre had taken him to the infirmary in their house and ran tests to make sure the bite wasn't deadly. After his head had hit the pillow of the medical bed he had broken out in a fever. His siblings and parents took care of him the entire night, doing everything in their power to make sure he didn't die.
Say what you will about the Addams family. They may seem apathetic and blood hungry most of the time, but they worried about their own.
Wednesday had stopped her torture antics for the night and joined their Padre in testing his blood, both trying to figure out what spider had bitten him. Pugsley watched over him with their Madre and changed the rag on his forehead when it got too warm. His fever had finally broken an hour before he woke up the next morning.
When they finally let him get up, they found that he had grown a full four inches overnight. So instead of five 'five, he was five 'nine.
After two days he and his family went to visit Peter's grave to pay their respects during the night. That was when they stumbled on a man with a face that was nearly identical to the recently deceased Spider-Man. Though, the man's face looked more haggard, and he had a larger stomach.
The man had explained that he was the Peter Parker of another universe and that he needed help getting home. They had taken the alive Peter back to their house for dinner, though Miles had ordered burgers and a pizza for himself and the man since their metabolisms worked faster than a normal person's. He figured the man most likely wouldn't want to eat what his family usually did. (Peter nearly threw up when he saw the family's dinner.) Though Miles mixed in some of his family's cuisine into his takeout.
He felt that the food just didn't taste right without some of his Madre's cooking.
Lurch had driven them to May Parker's house where they had found the other Spiders.
He met Gwen, who, in his opinion, was a little weird. But she was cool. He learned that she was a lesbian, which was also good because he learned early on that he was gay and he really didn't want another girl trying to ask him out. Too many girls at his school tried to until they learned that he was an Addams.
When Gwen wasn't looking, he pinned a lesbian pride flag pin to her hood without her noticing. He had gotten a few when he had learned that Wednesday liked girls.
After a while the other Spiders told him that he wasn't ready to be Spider-Man and left him webbed to his chair after figuring out that he still couldn't control his powers. He had broken out by focusing on his venom strike after calming down. He went to May's and she gave him a new suit with a hood to paint over. She tried giving him a pair of web shooters but put them away after he showed her his spinnerets. She did however give him a voice modulator in the form of a black choker with a silver spider pendant.
He painted his new suit black with purple accents. He painted on stitches in the shape of a smile on the mask with white spray paint.
Since he didn't want to take the name Spider-Man, his sister came up with a name for him. She called him The Huntsman, though he wanted to honor his more Latino ancestors, so they changed it to El Cazador.
After that he went after the other Spiders and found them at Alchemax. He rescued Peter from Olivia Octavius and, after some fighting, sent the Spider's home. Kingpin came after him, but Miles won in the end after seeing that his biological father was there to arrest Fisk. As much as Miles disliked his biological father, he couldn't let his twin brother be without a father.
That night he had followed the detective home while invisible and watched as his brother snuck back in through his bedroom window right after Jefferson closed the front door to their apartment building.
He kept watch most nights for two years to make sure his brother and his brother's parents were safe. He didn't think of them as his parents since they took him away from his brother and tossed him out like trash. He didn't think that his brother remembered him. If he did, he never showed it.
Miles had snuck in once when he was sixteen to look for any sign that they still remembered him. He didn't find anything. Nothing that would let Milo know that Miles existed.
Before he left the apartment, he had left an envelope under Milo's pillow telling him to ask his parents about his twin. The other baby boy they had thrown away. Along with the note he left a picture of himself with his new family that he had printed off. Miles had circled his own image in the picture to let Milo know who he would be looking for. He didn't leave a phone number because everyone in the city knew where to go if they were looking for the Addams family.
He hadn't heard anything after a few weeks, but thanks to his one-way telepathy, he knew that his brother didn't come to look for him because he wanted to keep him safe.
As nice as it was that his brother wanted to keep him out of his life of crime, Miles also didn't want Milo to get hurt. So anytime he heard of a particularly dangerous plan to steal something for Milo's boss, Miles got to it hours before hand and left it as a present for his brother. And if he had to dismantle something Milo's boss built with them later, then at was Miles' business to handle. He just couldn't risk his brother getting hurt because Milo's boss saw him as disposable. So, Miles made it to where his brother was irreplaceable.
Milo stayed safe, without any new injuries or scars, and Miles could sleep later knowing that his brother was safe.
After half a year of that, Miles had snuck in when everyone was out of the apartment again. It was just supposed to be an unscheduled visit. Just to be closer to his brother. He wasn't entirely sure why he was there. To him, it felt like something had pulled him there. Something had felt like there was something there for him, waiting for him. And as much as he didn't want to, he ended up giving into the pull.
When he got there, there was a white envelope waiting for him under Milo's pillow.
It was addressed: 'To My Stalker'.
Miles gave a small, almost unnoticeable smirk at the unfamiliar handwriting.
Milo had left him a note.
He had opened it and began reading.
To my stalker,
I'm a little irritated and grateful for your gifts over the last few months, but at the same time I need to know what your deal is. I don't know you or anything about you. What do you want with me? Why are you doing shit for me? What are you planning? What's your name?!
I don't know any of this shit. I'd like some info, y'know? I'm going crazy out of my mind trying to figure out if you're a creepy old man who likes kids or if you're planning on using me for something.
The next 'gift' I get from you had better be an explanation.
~Regrettably yours,
Prowler.
Miles smiled a little more, amused with his twin's irritation.
He tucked the letter in one of his suit's pockets before reaching into the other pocket and taking out a black envelope and black piece of paper with a white paint marker that dried pretty fast and began to write his explanation.
Mi Querido Prowler,
I enjoyed your letter.
You may not know anything about me, but I like to think that I know you better than you know yourself. I know a great many things that you yourself do not know about yourself or your employer. I am not a creepy old man; I am the same age as you. One might say that we are... similar.
For your questions I will give you this.
I want you to stay safe. Your employer is ruthless and will dispose of anyone he deems either in his way or useless to him. All it takes is one misstep to set him off. I plan to keep you safe. Your biggest desire is to keep your hermano safe from your life of crime. Do you not think it's also his desire to see you safe and sound as well? Do you not think he would like you to stay happy and healthy? I guarantee you that if you were to meet him face to face, he would welcome you with open arms. He would not care about what you've done. What you've had to steal or who you've had to hurt.
He only cares for your safety and your health.
As for my name, it's not important.
I am doing these things for you because your hermano doesn't want you hurt. The Addams family are not to be trifled with when one of their own is in danger.
~Siempre Tuyo Vigilante,
Cazador.
He put the letter in the envelope and sealed it with a sticker that looked like a wax seal stamp that had his Vigilante logo. He wrote Milo's name on the front of the envelope and set it inside his twin's sketchbook before leaving the book closed on Milo's desk. He knew the other boy would notice if anything was out of place immediately.
As he had set the sketchbook down, he heard the front door of the apartment open and his brother's footsteps coming in. He turned invisible as the front door shut and he could hear Milo take off his shoes.
Miles was already out the widow once Milo finally got his shoes off. He silently closed the window as his brother walked near silently down the hall and towards the bedroom. Once the window was fully shut, he moved out of view of the window as his brother opened the door to his room. Miles knew the moment that Milo saw his letter by the sound of his backpack dropping to the floor and his padded footsteps rushing to the window.
The window he had closed was thrown open a second later and Milo peeked out before looking around.
Miles had to physically hold himself back from touching his brother's braids. He just wanted to be close to his brother. To hug him and hide him away from his boss for as long as Milo would let him. He wanted his hermano to rely on him.
After that day Miles didn't get another letter for two years.
Both brothers were eighteen now.
Miles knew what his brother was up to and kept secretly stealing things for his brother only to put a stop to Kingpin's plans with the stolen items later. When he missed his brother, he went and watched him from another building across the street while invisible. He would read his last letter at night when his family was asleep.
His Madre and Padre had gotten him his own slightly smaller mansion now that Miles was eighteen. The only catch was that he visits them for dinner sometimes. His Padre had given him a small fortune of a hundred million dollars. Miles had decided to start his own business in the form of a night club. He also invested in the company that had a chain of stores called Hot Topic.
He wanted to be like his Padre and create or invest in businesses he felt would help keep his fortune growing.
He invested in a few smaller businesses as well. They were locally owned pagan stores where people could buy sage and crystals and other macabre items that struck their fancy. Sometimes if he found out that they were losing business he would send a few of his cousins and aunts to their shops to become regular customers to help keep their stores alive.
Miles had also invested in a few major tech companies like STARK Industries and Wayne Industries. Both were rival companies, but neither of them would say no to an Addams. They knew that they would lose business if they did.
At the moment Miles was watching his brother move into a new apartment.
It was a pretty small one, but Milo didn't seem to mind. At least that's what he got from his shared memories.
Miles was broken from his thoughts and his attention moved to the feeling of needles vibrating against and going into his skin. It seemed like his soulmate was giving themself a tattoo. He had found out when Gwen and the other Spiders had been there that his universe was the only one with actual soulmates. He also figured out that his soulmate was in a completely different universe.
In his own universe you could write messages to your soulmate on your skin and they could write back. He never wrote to his though. His Madre and Padre had fallen for each other long before they found out that they were soulmates. He wanted to give his soulmate the opportunity to fall for someone that wasn't him. He wanted to be able to fall in love with someone even if they weren't his soulmate. He wanted them to have that kind of freedom.
Miles took off from the roof he was on and swung back to his house. He took off his suit and got into a pair of black silk pajamas before tying his long hair into braids and putting them into his bonnet. He sat on his bed and read a book as his soulmate kept drawing with the tattoo gun. Periodically Miles would check on his soulmate's progress and found himself smiling as an anarchy symbol became clearer on his forearm.
He waited until his soulmate was done with the tattoo before grabbing his white eyeliner and finally decided to draw something as well.
He carefully drew two skulls facing each other in the form of a heart.
Over the years his soulmate had drawn and written a multitude of things on themself. Through the drawings and writings Miles had found out that they loved music, they were an anarchist, they didn't do anything consistently, and that their universe was a complete shitshow, but they were working on fixing it. They were also a Spider person.
Miles felt their hesitant words form on his skin as they wrote to him.
'Hello?'
'Hello there.' he replied.
'What is this? Who are you and how are you doing this?'
'I take it that means your universe doesn't have soulmates and soul-writing then?'
'Soulmates? Soul-Writing? No. Does this mean you're my supposed soulmate?'
'Yes, although I find that having soulmates undermines the experience of falling for someone you love. No one should be bound to someone they don't know.'
'Then why did you start writing to me?'
'Well, when you decided to tattoo yourself, you also tattooed me. I honestly don't mind; I like the anarchy symbol you drew. I figured that if you were going to continue to get tattoos, I should give you some artwork as well.'
'Why the white liner?'
'My eyelashes are white, as well as my hair, but my skin is dark. I'm still fairly pale since I mostly work at night and I stay inside some of the time.'
'Your hair being white seems like it would be a bloody brilliant sight to see. My skin is pretty dark too. My hair is the same as my skin, but I put them into wicks. Wanted my hair to look as loud as my music.'
'That sounds lovely mi querido. What kind of music do you play?'
'I play pretty much anything that pisses off the government and raises the spirits of the people here. Anything that gives hope to people, hope for the future, hope for things to be better. Also, what does mi querido mean?'
'That's understandable. Mi querido means My dear in Spanish. I am Afro-Latino, though my adoptive family is purely Latino. Mi querido is a term of endearment in mi familia.'
'Ah, it's like when I say bruv or lad or luv.'
'Exactly.'
'What about you? What do you like to do?'
'I like to paint, its mostly graffiti though. My room and my old art studio at my parents' house are absolutely covered in graffiti. Mi Madre also had me take piano lessons, though in my free time I'd rather sing. I like hunting as well.'
'That's aces, Luv'
Miles felt his cheeks begin to burn at that.
They continued to write to each other for a while until his soulmate told him they needed to go to bed because they were starting to get tired. He wished them a good night's sleep before going to sleep himself.
Maybe he would see them in person one day.
Miles hoped that their love story was like his padres'. He hoped he could fall for them at first sight like his Madre and Padre had.
But that was a problem for future Miles. At the moment he had to sleep.
