That Which is not Escaped, but Managed

Summary:

Did anyone else look at the episode Charades, see the wildly underexplored horrors T’Pring is going through, and find themselves haunted by fanfic about it? …No? Just me? Hm.

A series of drabbles about T’Pring’s relationship with her family, which might be politely described as “not great.” New chapters added as inspiration strikes, but at present each one stands alone.

Despite my very complex and mostly angry feelings about the choices SNW makes, these are compliant with that canon as of at least season 2.

Chapter 1: On Tevmel

Chapter Text

“What was your opinion of the tevmel?” T’Pring asks after the V’shal ritual.

Sevet considers this. “Your mother—”

“I did not ask,” T’Pring says evenly, “for my mother’s opinion.”

“I found it... intriguing.”

“I see.”

Sevet purses his lips. “Your engagement to Spock—”

“Is by your design, despite my mother’s... concern.”

“Illogical concern.”

“As I have told her. When will you do the same?”

Sevet says nothing.

T’Pring stands. “Your opinion of the tevmel is noted. I will tell this to the captain, since you would not.” And with that she is gone, letting the door swish shut behind her.
