"What did you and Luz eat together? Anything from the Human Realm?"
The Collector didn't need food like King did, but their eyes hungered all the same, eager for any scrap of information about the main character of most of King's Owl House stories.
"Well…" King considered the question. "We had pizza bagels sometimes. First you take a bagel—"
"A bagel?"
"A ring of bread with a hole in the middle," King explained. "Not as sweet as a donut."
"A donut?" Forehead scrunched in confusion, the Collector hovered upside down.
"That's more like fried cake in a ring with a hole in the middle. But sometimes you eat the holes."
"Eat the holes?" The Collector looked fascinated, but this conversation was getting off track.
"Anyways, you cut a bagel in half, spread toematoe sauce on each side, add cheese and whatever toppings you want, then heat it until the cheese is melty and gooey."
The next time King's tummy rumbled, the Collector was on it — and presented pizza bagels with fruit, meat, and cheese cut into crescents and stars. While they were a little fancier than the pizza bagels he'd made with Luz, King had to admit they were tasty.
