Chapter Text
[KYRIE POV]
Another failed experiment, another failure, why can’t I just get it? Why did I have to fail again, I need to get it right, I have to do—
“Kyrie, earth to Kyrie? Kyrie?? Kyrie!”
I’d almost jump out of my skin, immediately paying attention to the voice shouting my name now, I’d turn my head to find Beau… well, Bayle Auclair is her actual name but most she’s close to call her Beau, Harley Sawyers assistant. I’d quietly sigh, running a hair through my faint brown, blue tipped hair and look at her properly
“Yes? What's wrong?” I’d ask, she wouldn’t just scream my name for no reason, that's not like her
”You were staring at that experiment of yours for almost 5 minutes, well, at least long enough for me to find you anyway, what's got you so wrapped up about this experiment?” She’d reply back, always concerned for others yet not herself, I guess that what it's like from someone so kind as her, maybe that's why Julien and Beau are so alike, they're both kind and easy to talk to
I’d clear my throat and speak; “It's nothing other than another failure of an experiment really” I’d sigh quietly, glancing at the dud of an experiment with some silent anger and resentment before taking a deep breath and looking back to Beau, noticing the hint of concern on her face, probably from my reaction towards the failure
“Why were you trying to find me though exactly?” I’d ask, remembering the fact she mentioned finding me as well, what did she need me for exactly? Harley Sawyer? Rubbish honestly, he wouldn’t accept anybody’s help except help from Beau, well, at least reluctantly anyways. She’d perk up slightly though I did notice after all because I was still looking at her, the hell was I supposed to be looking at anyway
"Oh yeah! Julien wanted to see you" She'd smirk slightly and wiggle her eyebrows at me, I'd feel my face involuntarily flush up and I'd quickly look away at the sterile almost tile looking floor. My face was red as hell and warm, I'd quickly take deep breaths, I had to calm down
"Where is he then, Beau?" I'd question, silently annoyed at the waver in my voice as I spoke, trying to calm down further despite the race of my heart beating in my chest at the mention of Julien wanting to see me. Why me? Of all people? Why would he need to see me? What was wrong? Did he need to ask me something? Why--
My racing thoughts would be cut off from Beau speaking again. "I think he's near the other entrance in the power room" She'd reply with a smile, grinning almost ear to ear though the smugness from her radiated like her dyed magenta hair radiated under the bright lights of the room
I'd quietly sigh, looking back to her. "Got it, thanks Beau, see you then" I'd start to move around her to go to the door but I'd notice a slight change in her expression, stopping by her side so we were shoulder to shoulder, looking to my right and slightly up to her, my gaze narrowing at her face as she perked up, looking back to me. "What's wrong Beau?" I'd ask, tilting my head slightly, feeling the genuine concern towards my friend ache in my chest, what's got her worked up now? Did something happen to Julien? I'd almost feel the breath leave my lungs at that thought but quickly take a deep breath just seconds before she'd finally speak
"Do you actually genuinely like Julien, Kyrie, be honest with me, as I'm your friend here and Juliens twin sister" She'd say, almost staring her eyes right into my soul, It felt like my own soul was trying to leave me body from her staring and she was trying to use her stares to drag it back into my body and make it stay there, fucking hell Beau can be a bit scary, I'd hold back the gulp bubbling up in my throat against my Adams apple and sigh out a breath I hardly realized I was holding, looking right back at her, almost challenging for her to truly understand that every word I was about to speak was what I truly meant, why and how could I lie to my friend right to her face like this anyway?
"Of course I do. Julien is a very close friend of mine, like you, Beau. I thought you already knew that" I'd fidget with coats sleeves involuntarily, feeling the ache in my throat of needing a cigarette was bad, I couldn't do that right now, nevertheless in front of Beau, she hated smoking, her lungs are also apparently weak anyways so even a puff of smoke could supposedly get her hospitalized. I could never do that to my friend
She'd stare at my face, as if trying to find something on it yet not able to, it left a bad taste in my mouth of being unable to ask what was wrong. "Uh huh... right... Friend.." She'd slowly reply, nodding her head slightly before sighing slightly. "Just... don't hurt Julien, please? I care about Jules a lot so if he's hurt, then, so am I, got it?" She'd lean closer, I was terrified that she was about to pick me up by my white coats collar like a high school bully, but I knew she'd never do that to anyway, but she was taller than me, which was just as horrifying, especially when she loomed over me slightly like right now, I'm jumpy, I knew that, who wouldn't honestly be after everything I've gone through? Nonetheless, all three of my friends are taller than me! How'd I become friends with giants...
Never mind that know, I had to go see what Julien wanted, even if wondering what was up with him needing to see me did make my heart thump and race in my chest, nonetheless, I started walking to where Julien apparently last was.
